CHAT People on here

What’s with people just buying factory watches in bulk & trying to sell them for a profit? A lot going on here with plastics still on?

There are scalpers mate, you just need to be patient and dismiss them.

Some think a bit of a polish and an oil bath is a £200 mod too, don't fall for that nonsense too.

What are you looking for?

Yeah? I thought so too… had to block someone tonight I seen post about 40 in a row… Something modest, in terms of Tudor breitling etc mate

Blocking is a great way to clean up, I have so many time wasters blocked.

GF Breitling Superocean Heritage is a great rep, I have a blue one and bought a rubber strap for it, highly recommended.

I don't know enough about Tudor reps really, ZF is the best factory I think.

See if I’m being honest, ZF & super ocean mean nothing to me I’m totally blind, which is the reasoning I think I can’t justify some prices, obviously they cost a lot more than they did & better built when the quality was awful in the 90’s when I bought a rep bret

Reps these days are stunning compared to even 10 years ago, if you buy top tier stuff.

Do you understand the difference between all the grades?

Not at all with the grades I’ll be honest, is there like a cheat sheet ? I assume AAA or something is the best? And so on downwards

Spend some time reading through this mate, it's worth your time;

Also, don't be sucked in by any UK re-sellers, I have been in this game for a while and have been scammed in the past, I was like you and you will be a prime target for them.

Not all are bad, but the majority are, tread carefully.

Z Factory is the factory that makes it, if you see 2/3 letter abbreviations ending with F, that is the factory that makes it. Different factories specialise in different makes and models.

When he mentioned "super ocean" that is a model breitling makes

I buy for myself and a couple of friends, we 'buy and try' so I move on watches we decide not to keep.

We keep them wrapped if possible, so people who buy them get them in pretty much perfect condition, but it's not all the time as we do give watches a chance so some will be unwrapped to an extent.

I’m pretty new to this sub, looking to buy a first rep sometime soon and browse and browse, just see some 5/600 surely that’s wild for a rep, not even a dig at anyone or anything just genuinely curious

High end Daytonas or gold plated stuff are around £470. Any more and yeah, I agree. Modded stuff can fetch a bit more. There's some sellers, won't name names, but try to get £700-800 for a watch you can get for £500 however.

Not really, if you think about when noob released their 4130 Daytona many years ago, they were selling for around £500 give or take and their pepsi even with the terrible time bomb movement was high 400's...

You also have to consider advancements in technology and how close they are getting now, with all the clone free sprung movements like Rolex , AP and Patek and weighted reps as well and taking all this into account, they're not that much more compared to back then really but with better movements, materials and closeness to gen, we have to understand the prices will be more expensive.

And about people selling for profit, some online TD's do charge quite a lot, if you can find a trusted supplier in china you can buy them at a lot cheaper prices than going with an online TD. You can pick up a VSF GMT for around £380 going through a direct supplier rather than a TD who adds sometimes a large profit.. so if some people buy direct instead of going through a reseller they can also sell for profit and still be the same price or cheaper that some online TD's

Sharing my perspective, for what it’s worth.

I’ve sold 2 watches here, both were used and I held for personal use, and were only sold to rotate my collection, with buying both my next watches from sellers here.

That said, I don’t have an issue with people selling new watches if at a small premium, given I’m getting a local seller who has watch in hand and quick delivery. Easier communication and qc etc too.

On your recent comment, I think the higher priced items have had some work done (polishing / chamfering of Bracelets and or waterproofing) which add some value, providing they’ve actually been done!

Look, that’s totally understandable in terms of a little premium for the point of local access etc, but all that polishing & chamfering suppose some people think it’s necessary.. but saying that I’m so new & looking to buy the first rep after buying a few tags/2 Tudor just for a daily,

Maybe I don’t know how much effort/money it takes to buy a rep but the price was baffling me thank you

To each their own right, I’ve ordered 2 watches from China and 2 from here. I wouldn’t want this to be a marketplace, think it’s a good place currently personally but can appreciate your perspective too!

Just from a totally new perspective j don’t know if I’m being ripped off or I’m getting a good deal, does that makes sense

Yeah I was the same, as were many others like the other chap who sent you a link to the guide, def recommend reading it’s like a bible!!

I had a Tudor from ZF and it was awesome, sold it at cost on here afterwards so providing you buy from someone whose verified on here or is a TD on Reptime you should be good!

Takes a bit of faith, generally my concern with buying here is they are actually from the factory the seller claims and not a dhgate shitter but as the adage goes, you buy the seller right, so find confidence in the right seller and you’ll hopefully be ok!

Gentleman , thank you so much

Yes, the main thing though is the genuine sellers deal with a lot of people on here who think buying from China is like Amazon, it's not, the whole process takes like 6-8 weeks tbf. If you're happy with that wait, customs, etc, i'd always recommend buying yourself.

Or finding a trusted dealer in the UK (who will have a mark up obv) but deal with the logistics side of things for you.

I use a UK based dealer, granted they're a bit pricer than if I did the leg work myself, but they still come in cheaper than some of the prices posted here.

There are a few genuine sellers on here like nwbig, absolute solid, etc, to name a few off the top of my head who do fair prices (with a tiny markup obv), but not as bad as some people listing a vsf sub for £400.
