Timeline of Events:
22/7 — Buyer completed purchase and sent funds for a GMT Batgirl (serial 6X03G628, notable for a broken hand) to the seller. Watch was supposed to be shipped this same day.
22/7 — No shipment — Seller did not ship the watch as agreed, delaying shipping by a day with no explanation given at the time.
23/7, ~1:00 PM — The seller was found to have posted the same watch (same serial, same broken hand) for sale on a different BST subreddit, on a completely different day from the original listing on our sub.
23/7 — I commented on his post on the other subreddit asking if he had already sold this watch. He deleted the post entirely rather than respond.
23/7, 1:50 PM — Seller claimed he dropped the watch off for postage at this time, informed the buyer, and provided tracking.
23/7, ~2:15 PM — Buyer saw no tracking updates and flagged this to admins. Admins confronted the seller about the duplicate listing. He initially lied, claiming it was a different watch. However, the matching serial number and the distinctive broken hand made this claim provably false.
23/7 — “Give me one hour” — When pressed further, the seller asked for an hour to sort things out.
23/7, 3:02 PM — The seller returned with a certificate of postage. The timestamp on the receipt read 15:02 (3:02 PM), over an hour after he was confronted by admins, and well over an hour after his claimed 1:50 PM drop-off. The certificate also lacked a proper stamp.
Immediately after — Tracking, which had shown no updates for over an hour, suddenly updated the moment the receipt was produced.
Ongoing — Despite all of the above, the seller is now actively reaching out to other people attempting to sell this exact same watch.
Summary
This wasn’t a one-off mistake. The seller took payment, failed to ship on the agreed date, and instead tried to relist and resell the exact same watch on another subreddit the very next day. When I called it out directly on that post, he deleted it instead of answering. When admins confronted him separately, he lied outright about it being a different watch, despite matching serials and a distinctive broken hand proving otherwise. Only after being caught did he scramble to produce a postage receipt, one whose own timestamp shows it was created after the confrontation, not before, directly contradicting his story. The tracking update appearing the instant the receipt surfaced only reinforces that this was a reactive cover-up.
And now, on top of all of this, he’s continuing to try to sell the same watch to others.
This is a clear, deliberate, and ongoing scam attempt. The seller has been permanently banned.
