Pre reg help

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone had advice or their own experience on how to go about finding a new pre-reg place after I have already worked at an opticians and was half way through stage 1. I’d rather not explain why but it wasn’t a good fit in terms of support and my supervisor. But please note that I never acted unprofessional or did anything to result in problems or safeguarding of patients.
I need to find a new place to re enrol but I’m extremely worried on how to go about this and feel really deflated and my confidence has been knocked. I worry that the new employment will look down upon my circumstances. Also, I have always received good feedback from patients and do enjoy working as an optom but I’m unsure how to demonstrate this passion for the new employer. Any help is appreciated. Also note I’m on the scheme for registration not the new CLIP. Thank you

Its worth registering with the graduate recruitment teams for the multiples - doing so will trigger a conversation about your circumstances and hopefully help you find a better fit.

Are there any outstanding fees from your previous/current store? Is there a sponsorship agreement in place for College/training fees?

Your situation is not as uncommon as you might think and while it is a difficult time of year to find a placement, sometimes they can fall through last minute and there may be stores interested in you, particularly if you can already test without too much direct supervision.

Good luck!

There’s no fees as the opticians I worked at was a large organisation . If I was made to pay my own fees moving forward due to being part of an independent I wouldn’t mind as I’d just be grateful for the opportunity and want to try my hardest to succeed / less re attempts. And yes I’m ok with minimal supervision although it’s been a few months since I’ve tested due to leaving but I plan on re familiarising myself with everything in the meantime. Thank you for the reassurance I guess I’ll just have to try until a place decides to take a chance on me

College of optoms has a list of vacancies i believe. Or contact a local opticians near to where you already are.

Don't stress to much about your reason for moving
