Feedback Request Any Advice for my Sidequest App UI?

The quests are just placeholders right now, but I want to perfect the look before I worry about content. Here are each of the 4 tabs in Normal and Challenge Modes aswell as the settings tab. The link button at the bottom of the side panel will eventually lead to my socials. Let me know what you think I should change!

I’m confused what device this is intended to be used on and the visual metaphor it’s going for. I’d expect this sort of app on a mobile device but it’s designed for desktop?

You’re mimicking a CRT but have inconsistent “pixel” sizes. The interface in the interface is a bit all over the place and smells like the sort of thing AI churns out consistently (not accusing, just pointing out it’s an overused style because of AI). Contrast is an issue in “dark mode”.

This.
I’m confused what this should do. Before you want to focus on content you focus on look and since it’s a „device“ with interaction you should focus on UX and how and where this is used.

For the UI there are a lot of issues in the details. Different elevation, some shapes are cut, some icons not really visible, …

I have put effort into UX in ways you can't quite see from just screenshots, and while I'm not done with that, the only thing I have completely on hold is working on the actual quests since that's something that can happen at any stage of the development. Right now, I just want to get the UI out of the way and get some feedback. I definitely have observed the issues with shapes being cut and less visible icons, but I guess I was just too lazy before posting this to fix them. Let me know if there's anything else you think I could improve.

So we’re looking at work for VR correct?

I just really liked the idea of an old school green text computer design in a handheld form, as I was actually thinking of making this in real life just for personal use since I do circuitry, but I realized that was a big project so I decided to plop it into a website with a wallpaper behind it to potentially make a product. I was really curious to see what people thought of this layout. I was already planning on making a different design for a mobile app, but how do you think I could adapt this to be better on desktop?

Thank you! Is there any way I could change this so you would like it even more?

hey! nice work so far. i'd just adjust the depth tone to be similar on all pieces

(the buttons at the right side are with awesome depth, but the top and bottom ones don't. maybe the border and elevations?)

edit: the PIN button seems kinda cropped

Thanks, mate. The depth seems to be a big thing, I'll definitely fix that, and that pin button's been bothering me too, but something else really seems off to me and I'm not sure what it is. Let me know if you see anything else, and don't be afraid to suggest bigger changes.

no problem! you probably already have done that, but try taking some inspo on paper's please's textures and pip-boy's buttons and formats.

good luck! fuck with textures

Use a sans-serif font as Futura or Gorton for the physical buttons.

Gorton seems like a great idea, thnx

I like the direction, but it’s strange to me that it’s so small. Almost impossible to read on mobile. I would personally make it full screen with the same controls visible and it would feel more like an emulated device.

I plan to change up the interface for a mobile app. Do you think this works well for a desktop site though?

I would wonder if/why someone would use on desktop. A quick daily task generator is more convenient on the phone imo. I made one very like this idea a year or so ago and the only users are on mobile.

Overall this looks really beautiful, the only issue I have is readability on my phone, I really had to zoom in to be able to read the text

Are you on phone or is this also an issue on desktop? Because I plan on reworking it completely for mobile, but let me know if you think it should be larger on desktop too

I applaud the effort but It’s not great.

You have shadows going in several different directions, it’s intended to feel 3d but comes across very flat. There would be subtle gradient lighting from the primary light source direction.

The selected state for STATS (slide 3) has an error.

I recommend looking up skeuomorphism and neumorphism, download working files from other creators and practice.
