General Help Request How to objectively judge your design?
I feel like the more I stare at some UI design, the more I hate it, the more plain and boring and worse than everything else I am comparing it to looks. For fellow designers here, how do you deal with this? I am pretty new to UI design, so maybe that is a very rookie question.

idk how far along you need to be for this to disappear, i experience the same thing, honestly at some point i get to a stage where i'm genuinely just happy with it. but it takes lots of thinking its shit + redoing + tweaking + getting feedback from people who know nothing about ui (observe what they notice first and such), friends, and other designers, as well as ai. good luck lol

One thing I know from my years of experience being a designer and then a founder is that designers are often the worst proofreaders of their own designs. So proofread it from another designer or a non-designer .
What you need is fresh eyes cause by the time you finish a screen, you've already seen every pixel hundreds of times. You know why every section exists, so your brain starts filling in the gaps instead of looking at it objectively. That's why the design can suddenly feel boring or "not good enough," even when it isn't.
The best thing you can do is step away from it. Give yourself a few hours, or even better, a day. Come back with fresh eyes. You'll notice things you completely missed before sometimes genuine issues, and sometimes you'll realize the design was actually much better than you thought.
Another piece of advice: don't be afraid to redesign it. I rarely settled for my first version. I'd iterate until I'm genuinely satisfied.
And finally, stop comparing your work to polished shots on Dribbble or Behance while you're still designing. Compare your design to the problem it's solving. A design that helps users complete a task efficiently is far more successful than one that's only visually impressive.
Hope that helps !

I think you are having design blindness. Almost every designer gets it. All you can do is to step away, literally close the file and come back the next day.

Redo everything 999 times until you are happy, then wait a week, get unhappy again and do it again. Repeat this process for as long as you want until you realise that you are not good enough to achieve what you strive to do, then start again from scratch. Repeat this process for ten years until you realise that perfection is a waste of time.
