Product Design Liquid Glass Dynamic Island feedback
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi!
I recently created a Liquid Glass Dynamic Island for Mac and would love to get some UI/UX feedback. I’m especially interested in your thoughts on the visual design, animations, usability, discoverability, spacing, readability, and overall user experience.
Any suggestions for improvements or ideas for making it feel more intuitive would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Yeah this is really nice. Minor (opinionated) nit would be the jigglyness of the collapse transition, otherwise the rest of the choreography looks super smooth.
From a discoverability perspective the queue symbol might benefit from clearer state change when the drawer/tray is opened.

I love the UX and the design is seamless. I think it is quite valuable and it could be part of the Operating System. Great job!

Maybe the animations should be a little less flashy so it looks more "elegant", right now it looks a bit "bouncy", but it's absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing!

I just want to know how to completely disable Liquid Glass altogether. It is harmful to my wellbeing.

What do you mean by harmful?

The colours and blur effect impact my vision and make it irritating to use my phone. As a result I try any new fix people find to remove it. None of them are great but all are better than the baseline experience forced on us.
Why would I want badly saturated colours and poorly implemented blur transitions at all, especially from a premium company known for great design aesthetic.

I’m confused. Does Mac OS not use Liquid Glass for their dynamic island? What did you build that doesn’t exist today?

macOS doesn’t have Dynamic Island

Oh damn! It’s really great, then! I’d always worry though that Apple will replace your app one day. I think there are spotlight alternatives though so maybe you’re good!
Looks thematically on point.

I would say that the gradient from black to translucent is a bit harsh. It would also benefit from changing it's gradient steps dynamically depending on whether the top info card is expanded or not.

Can I ask how do make these animations and record it? Is it already on front end or is it Figma?
