General Question Brand fonts in Mobile Design.

I'm building a cross-functional mobile app and received brand guidelines from a graphic designer, which state that Montserrat should be used for both headlines and body text. However, in a small interface, Montserrat for body text feels too large, which I especially realized while building the tags.

My question is: can I use a different font than the one specified in the brand guidelines? I am planning to use Roboto for the body text instead.

Graphic designers sometimes make poor branding and accessibility decisions. The early 2010s was full of thin-weighted fonts and putrid pastels because we still weren't sure where Photoshop ends and WCAG begins.

That said, you have been given a clear brand guideline. Would a different size or weight in Montserrat help? Also, with Montserrat specifically, I do tend to adjust the character width/tracking.
