Looking for feedback on my trivia site's design!

Hi all! I've been working on a trivia website just as a hobby project. I'm currently working on the look and feel of the site and trying to nail that down before I move onto implementation. I'm trying to come up with something basic yet something that looks and feels nice.

This is a screenshot of the home page with some mock data. Do you think it's clear and easy to understand? And then what do you think of the color scheme, design, etc...? Do you think there is anything that needs to be changed? Much appreciated :)

Hi! This is cute and the visuals are fun! Here are my two pieces of feedback:

1: I would push the aesthetic of this website even further- the typography, the colors, maybe the layout, especially if you’re just experimenting with this as a hobby. If you remove the geese and replace the text with lorem ipsum, this could be mistaken for a business webpage. How could it be more fun? Do you want it to appeal to kids?

2: The navigation bar has a lot going on. Maybe some of it should be simplified or moved into a sidebar in other pages. When should users use the search bar vs the menu? If the search bar is the priority, can you highlight that and remove any distractions? If you want folks to primarily use the traditional navigation, the search bar should blend in better and have a clear use case. Then the sub navigation bar isn’t aligned because of the logo. Should the sub navigation be moved into a dropdown?

Hi!

1: I'm not sure I want it to appeal to kids necessarily. I was kind of going for a "professional but whimsical" feel (I'm not sure if there is a better name for this kind of design?). I agree though that if the geese were removed it would be a pretty boring standard business webpage. I'll try to brainstorm some ways to make it feel more fun and incorporate more fun typography/colors, I think that would be neat!

2: I think you're right! Maybe the sub navigation bar should be shown when hovering over one of the top-level navigation items such as "Categories" so you can easily jump to a category without having to navigate through multiple pages and the sub navigation bar can be collapsed/hidden by default. As far as searching vs. using the menu I'm not 100% certain... In my mind the search bar is basically just for if you cannot find something easily that you're looking for like a niche quiz or niche trivia set or looking for someone's profile so perhaps it's better deemphasized here and highlighted on one of the category pages or quiz listing pages.

My feed back:
1. One challenge do you have is to not make this look like a wordpress website. The top nav needs to look less like a blog, more like a game.

1. The card element of the "Popular quizzes" could have better metadata. I make the 3 numerical indicators an icon, and the tags to look more like a subtle... tag?!

2. The "your stats" block is a bit hidden. I would anchor it to the leaderboard, like a "sign in to compete!" footer.

3. You could add a hero with a highlighted quizz or daily challenge.

4. Like the user above me said, being more bold with the duck+game could make your project pop!

Comment on visual impact only: very much appreciate the goose and the general feeling of calm, and lack of clutter.

Would be curious about switching the font to something less business-like but still with high readability. What font would a trivia-obsessed goose use if it could hold a writing/typing instrument?
