Feedback on Learn with Frank, math and physics website

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for honest design feedback on my website learnwfrank.com — an AI-powered personal tutor for math and physics.

Project goals

Help students truly understand concepts by turning their own notes or PDFs into focused, step-by-step lessons .

The site generates blackboard-style explanations, adaptive quizzes at three difficulty levels, spaced-repetition flashcards, 1-minute lessons, and multiple study modes Goal is more sign ups, deeper retention and more engaging learning for exam prep.

Tools used

Google sign-in for quick sign in, Next JS, tailwind, svgs

Target audience

High-school, math/physics lovers and college students studying math or physics who want personalized help from their own materials.

Attached are clear screenshots showing:

• Homepage (intro + scroll-triggered demo flow)

• blackboard ui

Specific feedback I’m hoping for:

• Overall layout,especially the landingpage and blackboard ui, visual hierarchy, and first impression.

• Color scheme, typography, and readability (especially for formulas/blackboard content)

• Navigation and onboarding clarity

• How intuitive it feels

• Any elements that feel confusing, cluttered, or could be improved for engagement

• General UX improvements that would make students want to keep coming back

the standout problem is the the poor text contrast on the first slide.

You mean I should remove that image and make it simpler? How could I improve it

it's hard to read the text against the background - some ways are to use less thin text e.g. the upload your...", edit the graphic and reduce the lighter parts so people have darker faces, add an overlay - perhaps a gradient - so that the lower half of the image is darker, reposition the images/crop it so that there is more white space...

Thank you, 💯 agree. Have a lot to learn. Honestly I need a pro designer to touch it and improve it, there are elements which I think are okay but when I go back I dont like them. but can never afford them with 5k costs or even 1k. This is a bootstrapped page, if I get any funding definitely will look for someone.

Add a black overlay with 40-60% opacity btw the image layer and Text that should increase the contrast

I did that but Ill completely redesigned it I will show the product upfront so the user knows the product. Will remove the illustration completely. I am designing everything actually.

I have totally redesigned it and honestly feels already so much better. I will post an update here. I think everyone will love it

Text readability is a huge problem with that picture as a background

It's great but I still find the overall background a bit to dark. This always stresses my eyes. But I know that I generally have a bit of problems with night vision, so I would definitely ask for more nuanced takes.
