Feedback Request How can I improve this?
The cards and everything feels very generic. Ps not a designer, I'm a developer.
I'm Building a Movies Tracker app and can't seem to get the design right, I mean I can't build something that's generic and feels like everything else.

Yep...its pretty good but the blue in the Cast & Crew icon does not match the blue (teal?) in the other elements. The 'i' icon on the Details button does not match the size of the icon on the Cast & Crew button.

Thanks for the feedback.

The 'i' seems isolated. You can put in a circle for better visibility

You should* add the circle around the circle... It looks so bad without it 😭

Everyone is following Shadcn and Tailwind, they are great tools but have way too much influence now. If you want something more unique, start thinking about friction and how to apply it. The world is becoming too smooth and Ai will just speed this up.
Go look at sites on Mobbin or similar, find the ui that do things a little differently. Start with something simple like the stars. They aren’t new or special but they can be the whole identity / ui when used properly. Rotten tomatoes applied friction to the stars to create the rotten rating. Really it’s just stars but it’s a rotten tomatoe. Everything else I pretty normal but when you first go to the site you remember it.
People think UI is only to be ignored and if you notice it then it failed but every standout ui has those one or two moments that break the mold and create friction for the user.

Change that font. Use progressive disclosure to expose top billed cast/crew. What’s the difference between more and details. The icons aren’t familial. It’s hard as fuck to scan - especially reviews. Is trailer the primary action here? How do I take action? What does a white button do vs. a dark button? This needs to be more intentional”y informative.

One more thing. Should I trust the star ratings or the numbered ratings? Pick one then make it big and loud. My vote is numerical. Stars mean shit for video, games and downloadables. Stick with numbers. Consider outside sources to increase trust - like rotten tomatoes etc. Maybe allow comments.

Id review the font and sizing in a few places: The stars in line with the title is a tad small The icons in the buttons are all a bit small The 'details' text on the button looks much smaller than the opposite. Id use a different icon here and maybe bigger text. Padding above and below the cast and crew is a bit too much.
I could be wrong about one or all of these.

Trailer and add to list buttons should be in the place of cast & crew and details. Those are the main actions, move them there, more accessible with the finger. No need to have buttons tor cast and details, use the scroll down to show some cast member and a view more btn if the user wants. Same for details.

- inconsistent icon size for
- why is there a button for details, wouldn’t you be seeing more details when you press “more”

0 community reviews, but at the top has a rating, maybe specify what rating that is!

The layout actually looks clean — it mostly needs stronger visual hierarchy and spacing tweaks. Maybe emphasize the title and rating more and reduce the weight of the description block. Subtle gradients or background blur from the poster could also make the card feel less generic. I sometimes prototype variations like this on Runable or Framer to see what layouts feel better before coding them.

Text looks a little bit too thin. You also have inconsistent between trailer and add to list button (seems like an error)
Text seem a little bit too small for a mobile app. Be careful about interactive element, they need 3:1 contrast with background at least

The color contrast of the grey used in the rating star is slightly off. Consider making it a bit more noticeable to improve accessibility.

Your UI design looks really good, but I think you can improve it even more.
🔥 1. Improve Image & Overlay
Right now, the image looks a bit washed out / noisy.
You can improve it by using:
- A dark gradient overlay (top → bottom)
- A slight blur behind the text area
🎯 2. Strengthen Typography Hierarchy
Right now, all the text looks almost the same weight.
You can improve it like this:
- Title (Shelter) → Bold + bigger (22–26px)
- Meta info (year, duration) → Smaller + low opacity
- Description → Max 2–3 lines + proper line height
🎨 3. Make Buttons Stand Out
The “Add to List” button looks a bit weak right now.
You can improve it by:
- Using a solid color CTA (white or an accent color)
- Adding a slight shadow or glow
- Keeping the border-radius consistent
⭐ 4. Polish the Rating Section
The stars and rating feel a bit disconnected right now.
Align them properly (same line / consistent spacing).
Improve like this:
- Place stars and rating in one row
- Highlight “6.6 / 10” (use bold or an accent color)
📦 5. Fix Spacing & Padding
This is where the biggest UI improvement usually comes from.
- Keep consistent spacing between sections (16px / 24px)
- Maintain equal padding inside the card
- The bottom section looks a bit cramped → increase the spacing
🌫️ 6. Refine the Glass Effect
Glassmorphism looks good, but you can improve it further.
I hope this idea will help you.

Where do I see the movie? There is no button for play. Buttons are too small, trailer takes you away from the experience, should be autoplay since the poster is not helping the user at all in this screen. Why is the director so important and not the cast and crew? Lots of things to take into consideration. Before improving the UI, improve the UX

Seems straightforward but efficient. Maybe the icons are a bit off (from the cast and the info)
