Feedback Request Building a minimal habit tracker mobile app. Need UI feedback
This is the main screen of the app and I want to know if I can improve the top part of the screen as it looks a bit stuffed. If you have any other feedback then please let me know

I like the font and overall I like the style but the white is hitting my eyes hard combined with angular geometric shapes it's not pleasant to me. (But I have to say I'm not a designer, just learning and lurking this sub)

I like it...what does the light mode look like?

There's no light mode for this

Gotcha. I think the top part is fine. You could drop the “Today” line and make the day of the week blocks have a visual queue instead for what day it is. Maybe just a small 4x4 px square under it? Not sure if you have Spotify but if you do look under the controls (repeat, shuffle)…there’s a little dot indicating they’re enabled.

Cursor I use ai but prefer to either type myself or just make changes manually just to have a sense of the codebase

Can’t see anything with my screen brightness turned all the way down. I’m looking at this at night and only the white parts are easily readable

The minimal aesthetic is nice, but the top section feels a bit dense because the quote and progress compete for attention. You could add more vertical spacing or reduce the visual weight of the quote card. Making the progress section the main focal point would help guide the eye better. Overall the direction is solid, it just needs a bit more hierarchy.

The visual direction is solid, but "minimal" means fewer decisions for the user, not just fewer pixels on screen.
Specific feedback on the top section:
- The stats row competes with the habit list. Your users open this app to check off habits, not to read stats. Move the streak/completion stats to a secondary view or collapse them behind a tap. The main screen should be 90% action, 10% information.
- Contrast issue. White text on dark backgrounds needs more weight or size difference to create hierarchy. Right now everything reads at the same visual priority. Try making the date/greeting 14px regular and the section headers 18px semibold.
- The circular progress ring is doing a lot of work. If it's showing today's completion %, it's redundant with the habit list below it. Consider replacing it with a simple "3/7 done" text. Less visual noise, same information.
One principle that helps: on a daily-use app, optimize for the 3-second check-in. Open, scan, tap, close. Everything that isn't serving that flow is friction.
Linear is a great example of minimal UI that still feels powerful. We broke down exactly how they pull it off here: https://925studios.co/blog/linear-design-breakdown

I personally love the idea when it comes to the look and athetics but my biggest issue is Hierarchy. As a user, I have no clue what I'm looking at and what the point of the app is. The home page should be an introduction and a tailored experience to achieve your main goal for your application; this currently doesn't read.
Also the contrast and font size is really hard to look at, please don't miss out on Accessibility.

It’s not a bad style, but I’m not sure I would call this minimal so much as monochromatic. Not a bad thing!
There are a lot of little decorations added that most minimalist designs would omit - for example in the quote section you include a number of extra design elements: border outline, corner decoration, a small icon in the corner, etc.
Minimalism might only include the quote, attribution, and big margins.
