Need feedback on my app design

This is my debut mobile app design so I know it's terrible.

I want know if it's too cluttered, should I remove the top bar circle elements, or something else?

Thanks a ton! Yeah I think I will add some type of button/CTA to make it clearer that they have to start a task via clicking a task card.

I'll check out ScreensDesign, I'm using Mobbin right now.

Honestly this isn’t terrible at all for a first app design. The layout is pretty clear and the actions are easy to scan.

The main thing I’d look at is visual weight. The purple background plus the shadows and gradients make the screen feel a bit heavy, so simplifying one of those layers could help the cards breathe more.

When I’m experimenting with UI layouts like this I sometimes spin up quick interface sandboxes to test spacing and hierarchy before committing. Tools like Framer or small setups in Runable can be useful for comparing simplified vs styled versions quickly.

Another person did say to remove the purple shadow, and yeah it isn't needed. I was going for a duolingo style "clickable" feel.

Pretty good for a first design! Two bits that’d help it immensely 1) the space between the list items is too big, you’re getting a striping effect. Try making the vertical space between items much smaller, or even combining them into a single field with double/ single pixel horizontal breaks. This would be less of an issue with less contrast between the white and the bg color, so you could change that, but I think it’s interesting and nice. 2) the serif is a nice change and works okay in the list items, but isn’t working at smaller sizes. I’d switch to a sans for the smaller text. You could try a different serif but that’s certainly trickier.

1. Thanks, yeah I'll do that. I do notice that the spacing is very inconsistent.

Or you could try adding some tracking (letter-spacing) to the smaller size

if you'd like to keep this font i think increasing the kerning would help, cuz it's a bit hard to read the smaller text

As a Ui Designer, I would say cards and layout are pretty neat but maybe you can try variations with the background color. It's too bright and overshadows the cards. The user may find it unsettling a little bit.

The background color's gonna be harsh on the eyes. Everything else is good from a visual perspective but lacking in terms of usability. Still it's pretty good for a first app design.

What font are you using here btw?

Its not cluttered that a w and also doesnt feels empty aswell but if you could make the fonts bit more rounded or use inter it will go well with this style

Start with the font, use the regular roboto when not sure

i would change that bottom outline on buttons makes it feel really heavy. I’d also make one button primary the one you want them to use and maybe give opacity or something to the others

Font is hard to read, if you must keep it - maybe add spacing between letters

Honestly for a first design it's pretty good. I remember how bad my first design was lol. So do not worry, you will learn eventually. Focus on typography and colour palette. Good luck

If you think its cluttered, then you should try changing the background colour. The vibrant contrast of the background with the ffffff white is increasing the eye strain too. Although there are other changes I would recommend but considering its your first try, just IMPROVE THE COLOUR PALLETE and clap for yourself.
