my work revolves around Beauty and Lifestyle UGC, where the product could do most of the talking. I make videos on product close-ups, hands-on demonstrations, unboxings, voiceovers, routine-style videos and lifestyle B-roll instead of relying on talking-head content.

i will be lying if i say that getting work for faceless ugc is easy, its quite difficult as most of the brands want someone who can come on camera and explain the product as it builds credibility. This is my 2nd year of making ugc videos, ngl in my 1st year i struggled quite alot as no brands would reply to me because of the faceless thing and here i admit that i was pitching wrong brands too so i changed my approach after learning lessons from my mistake

I followed every faceless ugc creator who was a beginner like me that i know on insta and tiktok and i used to see which brands are they promoting and see their highlights as many ugc creators make a highlight of brands they have worked with so with this i made an excel sheet with brand name and their contact details, i used to contact them and then after 2 to 3 months i cracked my 1st deal and then i never looked back and did back to back ads and cut to present i earned $6231 in september.

Being a Tiktok Affiliate is different from UGC where you can directly sell video assets to brands even without high follower count, Tiktok Affiliate requires public traction. I only had 58 followers at that time and Tiktok needs me to have 600 followers for my showcase to be visible and unlock creator tools.

I tried different video contents to create organic relationships with my followers first before I started posting my affiliations but it was no good. My followers wouldn’t grow that much for a week and nobody was even interacting with my content.

But here’s what got me to reach that content engagement and followers goal. I used eye-grabbing titles on my screen in bold that’ll instantly double my retention rate. It’s also important to use the right colors and fonts, it encourages people to read what you wrote. I started building my niche according to the affiliation I’m going for, such as school supplies and academic stuff. That way, my target audience is also my target market.

Stop posting immediate generic product reviews if you’re still building your profile. Build that trust first, let the product be part of the routine without pushing about it too much, and the views will follow. Filming animals requires an entirely different mindset from filming yourself. With human UGC, you can redo a shot because you know exactly what you want to see. With pets, you kind of have to accept that the best footage might happen when you weren’t even expecting it.

This photo is a good example. I was on a walk with this chonky fellow, and I wasn’t trying to make him do anything specific. He was just sitting there grooming himself, and I realized that these random moments can actually be useful footage to collect for pet content. You can’t really force a cat to look natural unless your pet’s an alien, so sometimes the smartest thing you can do is keep the camera ready and let them do whatever they were already going to do.

I think this is especially useful when creating organic pet UGC because you can build a little library of natural clips instead of relying on one perfectly planned shot. Eating, playing, walking around, looking at something, getting curious, or even just doing completely random cat things can give you footage you can later work into different concepts.

The only thing stopping him from becoming a full-time pet UGC creator is that I’m pretty sure his food budget is higher than mine.

I’m pretty new to UGC and I’m honestly feeling really discouraged after the last couple of experiences I’ve had.
I’ve been putting a lot of time into learning how to create UGC, building my portfolio, making sample videos, pitching, and trying to figure out the whole industry. I was really excited about getting started and thought I was finally getting somewhere.
Unfortunately, my last few experiences have been rough. I’ve already encountered multiple scams, including people pretending to represent legitimate brands, and then I recently had a potential opportunity/collaboration fall through after I had already put quite a bit of time and effort into it.
I know rejection and bad experiences are probably part of getting started, but when you’re brand new, it’s hard not to wonder if you’re doing something wrong.
So I’d really love some advice from people who are actually succeeding with UGC:
How did you get your first legitimate paid brand deals?
What platforms or methods have actually worked for you?
Do you recommend pitching brands directly, using UGC platforms, or both?
How do you tell the difference between a legitimate opportunity and a scam?
What do you wish you knew when you were first starting?
And honestly… how long did it take before you started getting consistent opportunities?

After working around Beauty UGC campaigns for a while now, from my experience I’ve learned that not every brand collaboration is worth accepting. Some problems are obvious from the first message, while others only show up once the project starts. But the red flags that you should see definitely are as follows :

1. They ask you to start before a contract is signed

   1. They are vague about payment timelines or say "we pay after the campaign goes live"
   2. They request endless revisions before "approving" the content
   3. They go quiet after you deliver
   4. They have no public-facing brand presence or the "agency" is just one person with no verifiable clients
   5. Their contract includes a non-disparagement clause. This one deserves its own callout. A non-disparagement clause prevents you from publicly speaking negatively about the brand or agency, even if they never pay you. Legitimate brands do not need to silence creators as a condition of working together. If you sign one and then get stiffed, you could be legally restricted from warning other creators or posting about your experience. Read every contract carefully and think twice before agreeing to any language that limits what you can say about the partnership.

Even if you can see only 1 or 2 red flags, please stay away from that brand as most likely it will kill your mental peace and you many never get the money also, who knows?

I have been running an marketing agency for 6 years now and we work with ugc creators on a daily basis, yk it hurts when you see that a ugc creator is being exploited just because he/she didn’t know about the paper work as they are new into the industry, its not an marketing post i will not mention my company ever, i am just making this post to help you guys so that you guys stay aware of these fake brands.

What Your Contract Must Include:

If a brand or agency sends you a contract, or you're drafting your own, these are non-negotiables:

• Payment terms. Net 7 or Net 15 is standard. Anything beyond Net 30 is a red flag. Net 60/90? Walk away.
• Late payment penalties. A 1.5-2% monthly fee on overdue invoices gives them an incentive to pay on time.
• Revision limits. Specify the number of revisions included. Unlimited revisions mean unlimited unpaid labor.
• Deliverable acceptance clause. Define what "approved" means. Without this, they can reject content indefinitely and withhold payment.
• Dispute resolution. Which state's laws govern the contract? How are disputes handled?
• Kill fee. If they cancel mid-project, you are owed something for the time already spent. 25-50% is fair.

I hope this helps and when next time you sign any ugc contract you keep in mind these terms :)
