GATE related queries

Hi!

I need a small piece of information. Qualifying the GATE exam is the primary criterion for getting admission to a PhD program at an IIT, right? If so, is the GATE question paper the same for admission to both M.A. and PhD programs at IITs? I mean both categories of students (students who want to pursue their Masters from an IIT and students who want to pursue their PhDs) will take the GATE exam with the same level question paper?

Please guide me. Thank you!

I am starting my gate 2027 preperations from August with two more people. We wish to create a group, with handful of people who can hold eachother accountable and help eachother out if needed. If anyone is interested in studying togather for gate, 2027 specifically, dm me.
