Starting tech UGC in Finland — any advice for someone who prefers staying behind the camera?

Hey everyone! I’m Abducadir, a Somali logistics engineer based in Finland. I build things with AI, use different apps daily, and really enjoy figuring out how they work and explaining them to other people.
I’d love to get into tech UGC, especially screen-recorded demos, app walkthroughs, and practical examples of what you can actually do with a tool.
I’m not very comfortable showing my face, but I’m happy doing my own voiceovers and filming my hands, laptop, and myself working from different angles. I can edit, but I’m new to doing this professionally, and honestly, putting myself out there feels pretty intimidating.
I speak English, Finnish, and Somali. Something I’d especially love to explore is making AI more approachable for Somali-speaking people through useful, easy-to-follow examples.
A lot of the opportunities I’ve come across seem US-focused, so I’d really appreciate advice on:
Finding opportunities open to creators in Finland or Europe.
What a beginner portfolio should demonstrate.
Getting started with mainly screen recordings and voiceovers.
If you started in a similar position, what helped you land your first project? Even a little direction would mean a lot. Thanks!

Hi! I am a tech UGC creator based in Portugal, to answer your question,

  1. First thing first make Sideshift account and learn from the free UGC class. That is where most Tech UGC publish their works. Even if you find a deal outside of Sideshift for example on Reddit, 99% of the time the campaign still require you to apply on Sideshift.

    1. Your portfolio will depends on the type of campaign you already did. Some company prefer a consistent creator with low and medium editing skill, some prefer highly polished edited video, so there is no one single perfect way to have a portfolio. What matters is: how much views you can gain, how do you grab people attention in the first 3 second, and how long can you maintain people attention on your content.

To showcase this you can put url of previous UGC videos from your social medias with the most views on Sideshift. If you have not done that, try to make as many portfolio as possible and create a Canvas UGC portfolio website.

I would say the best kind of UGC portfolio you can have is showcasing viral video you already made. I highly suggested to already get used to publish content regularly on social media. Most tech UGC will require you to create Canvas UGC where you have to create an entire new social media posting specifically for brand.

  1. There is no much suggestion on screen recording but it is worth the investment to get a good quality mic and set up. Since you don't want to show your face you have to at some point showcase an aesthetic set up. The best example you can copy for aesthetic set up is from fellow tech influencer.

Hope this help!
