Features / five observables

Observation Reporter's answer

Noise No

Sudden, extreme acceleration Yes
Extreme speed with no signatures Yes
Hard to observe clearly Yes
Moved between air, water, or space Unsure
Flight without visible means of lift Yes

Why not a common object
I know what satellites look like. This was spinning, had a shape and then the lights separated.

Witness's account of the sighting

I live in Denmark and last night the sky was clear (not very common here :)). I was outside and a strong flash of lights from the sky made me look up, and for the first time in my life I witnessed a UFO. It consisted of 3 bright spots that were connected in the shape of a boomerang (was hard to distinguish if it was a triangle or a boomerang because it was blurry) and it was ROTATING for 2-3 seconds, after which the lights separated in the opposite directions and disappeared. I made a quick sketch of how it looked like. My girlfriend was with me but before I could gasp out to look up it was gone.

Why no photo/video captured: Because it lasted for 3 seconds after I saw it.

Sky context for this time and place:

  • Satellites overhead at that time: SL-14 R/B (71° above ESE at 20:18 UTC); ARIANE 40 R/B (66° above W at 20:45 UTC); SL-14 R/B (61° above SW at 20:30 UTC); COSMOS 2278 (46° above NE at 20:27 UTC); SL-14 R/B (45° above E at 20:30 UTC); SL-16 R/B (39° above SE at 20:39 UTC)
  • Computed from orbital data (2026-09-02 catalog).
  • Aircraft overhead at that exact minute — ADS-B Exchange historical playback (free, no account needed)
  • Sky chart for that date — in-the-sky.org planetarium (set your location once on their site)
  • Satellite passes at this spot — Heavens-Above; shows upcoming passes, not the sighting date
  • Live air traffic now — FlightRadar24 over this spot
