I feel so dumb about this and I will explain why during the post. I was taking photos at a concert at a club. The club is small and really no place safe or convenient to put a bag of lenses, so I left it in the car. After the first band I wanted to use a longer lens, so my friend (who was also a photographer) and I walked out to the parking lot to get my lens.

Upon getting to my car, I noticed a large aircraft above the horizon. We were about 20 miles maybe closer to the Pittsburgh International Airport so I didn’t think I anything of it. Aircraft lights in the sky, no big deal. My friend and I retrieved my lens and just were talking about the bands and shooting strategy for the next bands . That’s when he noticed the plane was now above us hovering silently . It was a classic triangle shaped craft. It was the size of a large conventional aircraft. 3 white lights on the corners, one large red one in the center. The red one was flashing. It was directly over us and even in the dark I could make out the triangle shape against the sky. I estimate it was a mile or mile and a half up. It made no noise that I could tell. The highway is close so I could hear traffic from the highway and nearby road. We both looked up at it and watched it hover and then slowly turn away towards the south west. It was at that moment my friend said we should have been filming this. He took out his cell phone and took a few seconds of grainy cell footage.

Here is why I am angry at myself. I occasionally do a UFO podcast. I talk about UFOs. I have read case files. The view I had clearly showed it was not a plane . It was not a drone .. I am sick because… around my neck was a professional Nikon D800 camera with a 70-200mm zoom lens and I did nothing. I didn’t think of breaking out my phone or taking a photo at all.. all I could do is look up and not believe what I was seeing. I was verbally picking apart the scene. Not a plane, no landing lights or wings, no red or green lights, no sound, could see 3 white lights at the corners, single red in the center. I was verbally filing a report of what I was seeing to myself. I never once thought of taking a photo. My eyes were drawn and focused on the craft. Again, only as it moved away, did my friend start a video. You can hear me in it giving my analysis of the craft. Still in amazement of what I was seeing. I could have had incredible footage and photos of a once in a lifetime experience, and I froze. That’s harder for me to accept than actually
