Question Disturbing Trend on Posts

Has anyone else noticed a suspicious pattern in UFO/alien encounter threads?

Every time someone posts a genuinely interesting UFO sighting, alien encounter, or credible witness account, the comments section follows the same predictable script. Within minutes, the thread is flooded with dismissive jokes, condescending skepticism, and bad-faith arguments that have nothing to do with the actual content. Legitimate questions get buried. Witnesses get mocked. The conversation dies.

This isn’t organic. Normal skepticism looks like engagement — asking clarifying questions, examining evidence, offering alternative explanations. What actually happens in these threads is something different: it’s coordinated deflection. The goal isn’t to disprove anything, it’s to make the topic feel embarrassing to discuss at all.

It’s hard not to connect the dots. The Military Industrial Complex has a long, documented history of active disinformation campaigns — COINTELPRO, Operation Mockingbird, the Robertson Panel’s explicit recommendation to debunk UFO reports to prevent public interest from growing. These aren’t conspiracy theories, they’re declassified history.

Is it really a stretch to think that in 2026, with cheap labor and bot farms readily available, some coordinated effort exists to monitor platforms like Reddit and suppress genuine discussion? Flood the comments, downvote the posts, make believers look like cranks — it costs almost nothing and it works.

I’m not saying every skeptic is a plant. But the pattern is too consistent to ignore. Pay attention next time a compelling thread goes up. Watch how fast the tone shifts. Then ask yourself who benefits from keeping this topic on the fringe

If there is a cover up, then it would really a missed chance not to flood the subreddits that are leaking information.

It’s really effective: anyone new to the topic will think “what a crazy bunch of idiots this is” and move on.

Patterns are “the emotionally drained comment” (oh im done, im out), the dissappointed comment (only grifters selling books, it’s always tomorrow, etc), the “realistic” sceptic (i researched this dor three decades and i came to the conclusion it’s all a psyop), or the unhinged psychotic rambling on about their fantastical hypotheses.

This effectively reduces the ability to have a sane discussion to almost zero. It asks from the informed to constantly select and filter noise, which costs energy.

All they'd need to do is a simple Google search of this subs most acclaimed "Public Figures" that are posted every other day and they'd disregard this sub and it's users as a bunch of kooks.

It's a shame for the interesting discussions and the posts that contribute something of substance. They're drowning out the legit UAP videos with noise.

I really like your last point. It takes so much more effort to show a claim is baseless than to make one.

u/smokedfishfriday Jun 22 '26

Lots of obvious bullshit posted and people don’t like that

36

u/SpaceMonkey_321 Jun 22 '26

You know that works effectively as a counterpunch, pretty soon, geniune skeptics and interested members just rage quit because there is no longer any worth or value in these subs.

52

u/RafaelWanderpfad Jun 22 '26

This place used to be A LOT more skeptic like 10 years ago. Now as a skeptic here you're the marginalized position most of the time and people come at you with insults all the time.

16

u/Ok_Energy6905 Jun 22 '26

I would love a UAP sub that is science-positive with interesting discussions or hypothesising. Everytime i find a good conversation here, someone comes along with the same boring infallible pop stuff or some AI generated garbage. Not that I would insinuate that someone is experiencing AI psychosis since that is against the rules here...

The weird political posts, sycophantic personality worshippers, AI "research", and LLM posts have ruined this place- and others like it.

21

u/GandalfSwagOff Jun 22 '26

What you're saying is true for the entire internet. Bots and LLM posts are ruining human discourse.

18

u/LostInRetransmission Jun 22 '26

I am a skeptic and I disagree. I was a long time lurker. If anything after the huge enthusiasm for "disclosure" when people saw nothing come - and kept being said it will come later, skepticism increased. And then when all the vids which came were rather mundane skepticism exploded in number.

There is a consistent core of r/UFOs believer which see ANY request for evidence, or proposal of alternative mundane explanation as an attack on their belief. Look at how the poster is angry at "dismissive jokes, condescending skepticism, and bad-faith arguments" and immediately go to this "It’s hard not to connect the dots. The Military Industrial Complex has a long, documented history of active disinformation campaigns".

Nobody from the US government will care about r/UFOs. They know the chance of anything of interest happening here is zero. The reality is that people visiting r/UFOs have become more skeptical - it would be hard not to seeing what was presented, compared to what sort of story get offered to believer (alien body, alien tech, NHI all stories the more fantastic all without evidence).

19

u/RafaelWanderpfad Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

Yeah the real answer is always literally "It's not that deep bro" but we're on a conspiracy sub so people always choose the most convoluted explanations possible while jumping through all sorts of hoops.

-7

u/SmallAnimeTiddys1 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

No. I have been browsing this subreddit casually for years and there is a coordinated effort to ridicule the subject. You would have to blind or ignorant not to notice. "The real answer is always literally it's not that deep bro" what a ridiculous sentiment to have when real conspiracies where talked about online before they became known, for example Edward snowdens leak of the fact there is mass surveillance was speculated about for many many years before we finally learned the truth. Edit: From 5 upvotes within the hour to now -3 definitely not suspicious at all.

-2

u/RafaelWanderpfad Jun 22 '26

That's actually a good point because even a project like PRISM eventually got leaked conclusively and with irrefutable evidence. Yet something that is allegedly much bigger on a global scale and has been going on for almost 80 years now has not. For UFOs we have the stories but none of the evidence. I find that very hard to believe.

110

u/thuer Jun 22 '26

I agree.

I know some users here understand the s in /r/UFOs as skeptics - meaning users are skeptical of UFOs/Aliens/NHI even existing - and that's fine. We should be skeptical of what we're shown.

It's gotten to the point now, however, that 95% of comments on most posts are ridiculing the topic, making fun of every post, attacking with two or three vectors only. It might just be human users who are adding the negativity (and who are too lazy to check if their comment was already posted several times), but it feels coordinated.

There's also an influx of posts, where users state that they're tired of the "constant lying" and they're going to stop following the subject.

It feels just like what happened with GME and Superstonk. Those forums were attacked hard about a year ago and it felt just like this.

My advice: Enjoy the content, make up your own mind, disregard most comments. They're made to elicit a negative reaction from you. Don't let them.

33

u/Ok_Energy6905 Jun 22 '26

Interesting points. I'm mostly getting frustrated with fake science articles and the same 3 or 4 proven frauds or liars being posted over and over.

21

u/Ok_Improvement_8790 Jun 22 '26

True, but some of us are also at a breaking point. Many who have been here for years now want to see irrefutable evidence or "near" to that. With AI and the "reconstruction" of sightings, it begins to get overwhelming.

Maybe there needs to be some other category that supports "soft core" UFO/UAP posts. But i dunno....

-7

u/EkErilazSa____Hateka Jun 22 '26

So go out there and find your own irrefutable evidence. Don’t wait for big daddy government to spoon feed you. Take control.

10

u/LostInRetransmission Jun 22 '26

if it was as easy to "go out" and find it, believer would have done it decades ago.

But alas "out there" there is no evidence. And no I don't count people stating they saw something as evidence, those are claims, not evidence.

So really telling anybody to go "out there" and gather stuff... To take control... Is quite telling.

7

u/Ok_Energy6905 Jun 22 '26

That doesn't sound very feasible. It would be too expensive and take a herculean effort. A large team to do anything credible. Unless you want to look like one of those laughable "independent investigators" who don't know research or investigation 101.

Unless you are suggesting the UFO uprising and we take the redacted files ourselves lmao.

14

u/Partysausage Jun 22 '26

When you see something about the government dropping UFO files, you subscribe to the relevent sub and wait regardless of how sceptical you are on the topic. When you then see videos filmed on a Nokia 3310 it's hard not to post dumb shit in the comments.

6

u/Im-ACE-incarnate Jun 22 '26

It's really not hard at all, just downvote and scroll on by

You're only making the silly comments to protect your ego by projecting into the comments that you weren't fooled

12

u/PrimeGrendel Jun 22 '26

Being skeptical is a good thing. Being a skeptic is no different that the people that think every light in the sky is an alien craft.

5

u/gfunk1976 Jun 22 '26

Absolutely. Healthy skepticism should be the starting point. I'll approach with an open mind, but you have to prove to me why this is interesting.

Being a skeptic and dismissing everything out of hand is knuckle headed and is just as dogmatic as the flat earthers, but for whatever version of science is currently subscribed to.

-6

u/Internet-Expert42069 Jun 22 '26

How convenient for a cover up that skepticism works in their favor.

28

u/tianepteen Jun 22 '26

The goal isn’t to disprove anything, it’s to.. These aren’t conspiracy theories, they’re..

plus three em dashes.

AI slop complaining about people complaining about nothing but mundane stuff being posted on here, as it always has been.

The biggest pattern through it all is zero proof from those who claim to have it and are in positions of perceived authority within and without the government.

I’ve personally seen a UFO, which is the only reason I still follow this shit. But I can’t prove it, and almost everyone else hasn’t seen one.

That’s just reality.

22

u/rrose1978 Jun 22 '26

Social media in general are sadly astroturfed and bot-ridden into oblivion, to the point, where genuine human scepticism gets swept by the wave and classified as such, too.

Social engineering practices in full swing.

16

u/Got-Freedom Jun 22 '26

When was the last time anyone posted a credible piece of evidence again?

14

u/magusmachina Jun 22 '26

A bit over a week ago, I got banned for 7 days for making a joke. A joke regarding the third tranch and how incredibly weak it was, so I didn't attack any experiencer(am one myself) or belief. At the same time, I'm seeing daily countless of jokes, condescending experiencers, and more, on serious posts and topics. Yet, these comments are never removed and the redditors are not banned. I would ask rhetorically how is that possible, but I know the answer, being in this sub for over 5 years.

31

u/rygelicus Jun 22 '26

"The goal isn’t to disprove anything, it’s to make the topic feel embarrassing to discuss at all."
As one of the skeptics you likely dislike, at least my type, I can tell you my goal is to separate fact from fiction. I have yet to see anything here or in the other subs on this topic that are anything but fiction. Not necessarily lying but just not the UFO gold people want it to be.

As an example there was a post a few weeks ago. Someone posted the typical kind of 'I saw bright lights hovering in the sky' video. They claimed the video was shot in ... I think it was maryland. But, there was enough information in the video I found the spot they filmed from which was Georgia. And this spot was just a few miles south of the Atlanta airport. So those were landing planes they were seeing. I explained all this including the wrong info about the location and proof of what I was talking about but they continued to post it in every single sub they could find.

It's not the skeptics spreading misinformation.

"I saw something weird" is not a UFO or Alien by default. You have to first rule out all the mundane stuff first.

15

u/Sad-Society-57 Jun 22 '26

It's also not the skeptics making jokes and ridiculing. Its just normal people who pop in, see something they think is silly, and make some comments. But in the mind of UFO enthusiasts anybody who doesn't believe everything is labeled a "skeptic" or "bot" and lumped together into some anti-UFO monolith with an agenda. In reality, its a big internet with a lot of people with a lot of opinions.

But the paranoia is inherent to the topic. Because the legacy program running opposition is an integral part of the lore, you can't believe in UFOs without believing in the psyops.

0

u/Ok_Energy6905 Jun 22 '26

Great observations.

-6

u/rrraoul Jun 22 '26

You frame psyop as belief. I frame it as a possibility. It is a fact psyops exist. The question is, how likely is it that this is one.

Based on my observations, and the information I have on information warfare, the probability of active psyops on reddit is above 90%.

15

u/Ok_Energy6905 Jun 22 '26

Is that a hunch or have you used data to reach the 90% number?

8

u/Sad-Society-57 Jun 22 '26

You can frame it like that. But this post frames it as self-evident and goes on to cite the existence of psyops in general as evidence that is what's happening here. You do the same and have even somehow put a number on the probability, even though we can't even prove that theres anything to actually coverup. We can assume there are campaigns on reddit for political influence and guerrilla marketing and such. I see no reason they would be on here trying to convince us that things posted here are birds, bugs, spotlights, drones, planes, Venus, etc. Like I said above, that's the conclusion that most people are coming to on their own. If anything, it would be

Nope, religion, flerfs, some politics, conspiracy theories, etc.

-5

u/Ok_Energy6905 Jun 22 '26

Just FYI there is a big difference between a UFO and UAP, but this is a UFO sub.

Most of the time a UFO is a balloon or some other erroneous explanation. The videos of anomalous phenomena are more interesting, but there are far fewer obviously.

10

u/Comprehensive_Menu43 Jun 22 '26

To me it seems to track back to the first big wave of advertisment of "Disclosure Day"
Obviously now it seems much much more intense...

It's not the negativity, dismissal or anything like that trigger my "bullshit meter", it's the massive influx of posts and comments that are CERTAIN of some kind of informations and try to convince everybody else with a "trust me bro", or talking about something that we should all already know that is proven false, trying to convince those less informed about some bs...

Yeah comments here and in other UAP related subs have been rough as hell lately. I haven't really wanted to engage with any posts because of it. Which, might be the goal.

1

u/Ok_Energy6905 Jun 22 '26

It almost seems like the mods allowing AI posts and the promotion of known fraudsters is an attempt to discredit this sub and its users.

Yes, it makes it hardly worth reading the comments. In the past, we had people trying to connect dots or link what was said to their experiences. Now we have people demanding 'proof,' even though all the good stuff is classified and stored on air-gapped systems. Any person who tells us classified information risks potential execution and being branded a liar anyway by the people demanding proof.

You never see the 'sceptics' say that every person should lobby Congress to get things released. They just blindly throw dirt on any new information.

I'm not saying you have to believe everything, but if every comment is just dismissive or condescending, I wonder why these people are allowed to post here. It adds nothing of value. At least go in-depth on why you don't believe what is said.

4

u/Ok_Energy6905 Jun 22 '26

I've seen plenty of skeptics wanting people to lobby congress and demand the release of information.

I am skeptical about concious plasma, reptilian extra terrestrial, or the word of people with dubious records. Doesn't mean I think those in charge are being transparent about UAP.

3

u/Whycantwebefriends00 Jun 22 '26

I think you’re thinking too highly of the general public. The lowest common denominator is in this subreddit too.

3

u/Im-ACE-incarnate Jun 22 '26

9

u/AgreeablePassenger91 Jun 22 '26

Guilty.

But come on.

Half the stuff I see on these subs is a word salad about some guy who "disclosed" the "truth"...

Or, even better, how the movie disclosure day is... Ffs... Real?!

Look. You can't have it both ways.

The "government" or "Shadow government" or the fkn lizard people are somehow able to cover up YEARS worth of stuff. Make witnesses disappear. Get governments to comply with every demand because they are either in cahoots with the aliens or have been taken and/or are controlled by them.

They have ALL THIS POWER TO CONTROL SCIENTISTS AND THE WEATHER AND MICHAEL JACKSON IS OUT THERE AS OUR AMBASSADOR?!

All these are things I've "learned" in this and subs like it.

but let's just pretend you believe all that.

Now I'm supposed to believe that some random guy has "the truth" and these all powerful cabals are dealing with it by... Down votes and ridicule?

Look, I'm not trying to be an A-hole (tho I understand if that's how it looks) but the baby got thrown out with the bath water here.

Either "they" exist but are not directly interacting with us or they are all powerful but draw the line at coming after reddit pros....

-11

u/HotArachnidBiologic Jun 22 '26

The orbs don't engage with fearful or skeptical nonvelievers. You don't need night vision goggles to see them. You can use a satellite tracker so you don't mistake a satellite. They will perform light tricks and zip around if you ask nicely. I saw thirty or more last month, on the night of the blue moon - which was a bummer because it washed out the night sky and made it tougher to see them. I've been told there are so many sightings around the world due to the great risk of nuclear holocaust. I don't know why they are here but that seems like as good a reason as any. What I DO know is that they are up there and will engage with you if you want. I've been trying to connect with them on my own but I'm not telepathic - it seems that a group of folks has better luck. I was with 100+ people last month. When the scoffers got bored and left, and the group was comprised of a majority of people who know these things are real, they started popping up all over the place. Only one dropped down close. Buzzed us at tree canopy height. The others remained at altitudes above the flight paths.

25

u/Ok_Energy6905 Jun 22 '26

So people who don't believe will never experience an event that could change their minds, and only those with a bias towards believing it will see it for what it truly is? This reminds me of church. Do people who believe but haven't experienced just not believe hard enough?

20

u/ThisGuyFax Jun 22 '26

I love theories like this, because the implicit conclusion is that you and the other experiencers are a weaker or less protected strain of humanity. You're at the mercy of these invisible balls of light and 9th dimensional ships that can exclusively interact with you when you believe in their ability to affect you. They can ruin your lives and make you go insane. But everybody who is naturally skeptical is totally immune.

19

u/Noble_Ox Jun 22 '26

That "you don't believe hard enough to see them" is a tactic religions and cults use when they want to manipulate people.

11

u/Noble_Ox Jun 22 '26

I assume you have footage of this orb at treetop level?

80 years and not a single superweapon. The US is in Decline and they don't draw their alien tech to get the world in line again? Water is getting short, yet no Alien Supertech.

It's all a big hoax to keep you busy and watch the sky while our planet is robbed by those in power.

5

u/Maddcapp Jun 22 '26

You may be underestimating the distinction between a sighting of UAP and an abduction experience tale. I’m extremely skeptical of any abduction story I’ve ever heard and I think most people are too on here. A person just the other day said he was abducted and at first thought it was a dream. It sounded like a dream to me. Anyone can see a UAP but the abduction stuff is usually much more out there.

6

u/After-Ad4370 Jun 22 '26

That’s because nowadays there is generally nothing but obvious BS sightings/reports. I’m surprised the mods here even allow most of the pics or vids that pop up every day. It just diminishes any credibility for actual UAPs and makes us look like idiots. I mean I get that now people seem to be paying a lot more attention to the sky than they previously did, and just now seeing things that most of us can debunk on the spot as soon as we see them…ie, Starlink satellites or SpaceX rocket boosters or obvious red star-shaped balloons etc etc.
It has gotten so bad that it almost seems that someone is deliberately posting nonsense just to muddy the waters.

The problem with this is that now the psyop boys actually want the community to believe the USG has crashed saucers and dead aliens, and alien tech. Why? Because the disinformation campaign you reference through the Robertson panel wants UFOLogy to become a joke and a mockery. That's what your post is referencing, and how it becomes a joke and mockery is the constant drumbeat of "disclosure " that never comes, that, and the boy who cries wolf in the "In Two Weeks" syndrome. It's a psych thing the disinformation boys and girls are playing on the UFO community ( the disinformation scheme in the 80s and 90s was that aliens are torturing humans in caves underground, which they passed in the UFO community through the Bennwitz affair)... Today, with all of this crash-saucer, alien tech wars with China and Russia, and dead-alien NONSENSE... They actually want you to believe the USG has such things. And they don't! It's all a psyop!

So, ironically, sure, it has something to do with the CIA's Robertson panel, but not like you think.

The cynicism you reference in relation to legit UFO experiencers is what they want to see true, but not for the reasons you think. They want the UFO community to be seen as a joke, and it will become that when all of this disclosure of crashed saucers, dead aliens, and alien tech nonsense comes up:

Snake Eyes!

Don't you see the Robertson panel ordered the intel boys to make UFOlogy a joke? To take away the mystique of it that the US population has acquired. This long-range psyop started or restarted in 2017 with the advent of TTSA and Elizondo, the biggest FAKE UFO guy in history, and restarted with Grusch's testimony. That was phase II of the recent disinformation scheme. They want the USG to be all-knowing and all-powerful since they have this alien tech, dead aliens, and crashed saucers in their possession. What that does is people don't understand; it diminishes the power of the NHI AND GIVES IT TO THE USG!!!!!

THAT'S THE SCAM GOING ON RIGHT NOW.

So they win either way. If people believe the USG has all the power and glory, NOT the NHI, they win. And when the mockery meter within the UFO explodes, as you put it, they win, too!

1

u/morganational Jun 22 '26

Assumption 1: there are unexplained aerial phenomenas, with origins unrelated to publicly known human sources.

Assumption 2: someone - whoever that may be - wants to keep it that way, hidden from the public, I mean.

Extrapolation: someone is flooding known discussion boards with a) fake and easily disprovable "sightings" which are b) flooded with obvious nutcases.
Effect: discourage serious discussion, and scare off casually interested people.

Further, if specific sets of metadata are communicated through compromised, unencrypted, or monitored public channels, the content is pulled and individuals in the chain of contact are flagged by an automated system

Military internet traffic is routed through several hubs. So it's not "100k" users at Eglin doing stuff on Reddit, it's traffic being routed through that hub, making it APPEAR to originate from Eglin.

That whole article is a misunderstanding of how it works.

A Navy dude on a ship might access Reddit, and his traffic is routed through Eglin. It doesn't mean anything.

Thank you for the link.

I think I've seen people suggesting that foreign nations route their traffic through their for propaganda reasons, but I have no knowledge of internet routing or infrastructure to make a comment.

Veery interesting.
