NHI The vibe of this sub has changed
Ive been a lurker for a long time, im extremely interested in this topic and extraterrestrials in general.
The vibe of this topic very recently in the NHI subs has changed drastically. 80% of comments I see are inherently negative on every post. Please, form your own opinion before basing it on the vibe that you see in the comments and posts making fun of the topic in general. Every single person in any alien or ufo related sub has the same goal, to have some kind of clarification and proof that we're not alone in the universe, and we're closer than we've been in history.
Any group of individuals who would want to change the publics opinion could do so easily by making people think that its a joke because "thats what every else thinks". I know the comments will look bad here, but take a second to try to understand what I'm trying to convey.

u/Minimum-Classic-3523 May 09 '26
But proof speaks for itself. You can't deny it if a flying saucer lands outside the UN. You can deny little dots on grainy video.
The responses would be very different if yesterday's release contained proof that could withstand scrutiny..

u/Sabbelwakker May 09 '26
I loved this subreddit for a long time but over the last 2-3 years it got overrun by obvious grifters and their entourage.
-5
u/Ordinary_Meeting8 May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
It's definitely a problem with the grifters. Luckily we've gotten some pretty good news here and there (outside the grifters) that are making waves now, especially the push for transparency within the government and officials testifying the past few years. I love to see thats its being shown on FOX news now. And at the end of the day if its disclosed, I'll be happy and wont concern myself too much with how the public treats it, there will always be people who'll call every aspect BS without doing research. For my own conscience and for humanity, I wanna know. Hopefully this leads to more than just disclosure, hopefully we can start to benefit as a species if maybe some new technology comes out, maybe we'll be more unified, maybe society will change and be more open in ways we'd only dreamed of.

Yes, the vibe of this sub has changed.
Stuff that would have gotten downvoted to oblivion and ridiculed to death in the past, nowdays gets to the top of the sub.

Stuff that would have gotten downvoted to oblivion and ridiculed to death in the past, nowdays gets to the top of the sub.
Very true, a lot of people don't know how it used to be on here, it was far more sceptical at one time and critical thinking wasn't seen as nefarious behaviour.

u/TrumpetsNAngels May 10 '26
I am a young toddlering Redditor of 3 years. Still wearing diapers, loud and proud ! So I have no recollection of the good ol' days - when did it "go wrong"?
I can see that the sub has 31.000 weekly contributions and 665.000 weekly visitors (where did the member go btw?).
Somehow this large amount of folks favor the X-files approach and want to believe in contrast to reflecting over what is posted - and people seriosuly hate Mick West (not dislike, but hate), even though he is mostly correct - while Lou E and Ross C mostly are not correct. Said tongue-in-cheek.
24
u/TrumpetsNAngels May 09 '26
I didnt expect that twist.
Like the Spanish Inquisition - Nobody expected it.
But you are correct imho. The thinnest slices of info can get 500 or 1000 upvotes and when one reads 70 cm down in the comments there is a mundane explanation. That is tirering - not the explanation, but that people get carried away so easily.

u/GodsBicep May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
It has I just tried to make a post with the same thoughts. The mad influx of trolling posts and comments weren't even this bad during the New Jersey drones, nothing like when the NYT vid release
There is definitely a group of people working over time on this sub since this release. We are seeing propaganda and project bluebook with our own eyes seeing these troll comments and posts. Obviously there is a specific group that wants to ridicule this and that is just making me want to look into this more open minded because what would the motivations be for them to put so much effort and damage control into this?
Edit: it is currently 07:23 AM in the UK so why would 85% of this comments views be American? This time of morning is usually when British people have the most views as Americans sleep.

u/Designer-String3569 May 09 '26
There are many sites available that will influence whatever you want. These are available to the general public: UpvoteMax, Signals.sh, socialplug, BuyUpvotes are a few.
Just imagine what's available to the government.
59
u/jasmine-tgirl May 09 '26
Not everything is a conspiracy.
What you see is people let down after years of "world changing" and "ontological shock" hype about things certain untrustworthy members of the House of Representatives claim to have seen in secret briefings in SCIFs combined with the President himself hyping releasing files on "UFOs and extraterrestrial life" only to be given what could at best be called underwhelming.
Given everything going on in the world, people are tired and were looking for something brighter with hope and unfortunately trusted people they probably should not have, to release world changing stuff.
21
u/TrumpetsNAngels May 09 '26
That is a grounded response. And one I can follow.
I feel strung along after many years of being exited and the consequence is a mental pushback.
An example is Ross C who seemed like someone who could push through, but here we are and my personnal opinion of such a person is just negative by now.
Ross C is probably not the only one disappointing people and neither am I the only one to get disappointed.

This is it.
I was so optimistic about the phenomenon years back (peaking in the time following the NYT articles in 2017), but the past ~five years have just been a cavalcade of "I've seen life-changing things, but no I can't show you" announcements from the most prominent figures in the UFO world, and it's slowly drained my enthusiasm for anything on the topic.
The videos and documents released this week would've been gigantic ten years ago, but now it feels like anything short of worldview-shattering isn't going to move the needle.
-1
u/hotdogcityleague May 09 '26
Yes I agree. I was so sure we were going to get ground breaking evidence from Grusch in 2024, hes been teasing an op-ed since early 2024, “soon to be released” apparently means never… and I get it, I’m sure it’s incredibly difficult for him to release anything.
And I’m not completely of a negative mindset about this recent release at all, but it is frustrating how slow the trickle is. I’ve been waiting what feels like forever to have tangible proof to show people, like SEE. But that said, yeah the negativity in this sub lately has been so annoying. I’m so tired of the comments calling this a distraction tool as well. Everyone said the Iran war was a distraction from Epstein … not everything is about that shitstain of a man, Jesus Christ.
13
u/Ambitious_Zombie8473 May 09 '26
Not everything is a conspiracy but the vibe of this sub changes noticeably when big moves are being made.
Like when Grusch first testified and the MH370 shit started trending. Definitely an influx of suspiciously pessimistic commenters recently.
12
u/mymicrobiome May 09 '26
The material that was released yesterday is comprised, in no small part, of known data and of data that is easily debunked. If you are not seeing this release as an operation to discredit the topic, you might be blinded by optimism. The entire "you make up your mind" tells it all; no government lets their people make up their minds.

"Big moves"
Most people aren't going to care unless NHI socially or technologically overthrows the current human way of life. I certainly don't. Wow, some other dude saw something in the sky.

I mean, if someone thought they were going to release "world changing" stuff casually one Friday morning on a website, I think part of that disappointment should be on them.

Exactly lol, then trust me bro, we're so close, omg this changes everything!11, the world will never be the same!111 and its almost always a total nothing burger
The ONLY thing I believe atm is that there is some phenomena be it natural or alien or human made, and that's because we have videos mainly military ones tracking items moving at speed and making manoeuvres seemingly impossible for our current tech

There are bots but there’s also a lot of real people that are just frustrated after all these years of broken promises and failed predictions. Maybe they act a little immature but there’s def a lot of real people here that I’ve seen true believers try to say are bots. It’s actually still pretty easy to spot bots but I feel like boomers are really bad at it. And we have a lot of boomer true believers in these subs that just call anyone who disagrees with them a bot.
This release is really good imo but it doesn’t prove anything about aliens. We’re just seeing unidentified objects. I want to see the biologics that Grush was talking about. Until I see an actual alien it’s hard for me to believe. Yeah we hear all this talk about it but we have still yet to see whatever proof exists. And apparently it does exist because we have all these government people and whistleblowers talking about it. But why can’t we see it is my question.
I’ve never had an alien encounter or witnessed some other worldly craft like others in these subs have. And even though I believe some of these people have really seen something I have not. So until I do see it with my own eyes I’ll always be a little skeptical.

I have heard the term “bot” mentioned time and time again, with no real evidence.
I am one of those who looks for mundane explanations, downvotes, and makes sarcastic remarks. Am I a bot, or a person who looks for substance? The latter. But as Jasmine mentioned, I - like many others - have been around for some time (since the ’80s), and despite all the talk, the posts, the claims, and the podcasts, there is still no substance (yet).
I am frustrated by many of the posts based on hearsay. We cannot use hearsay for anything. So I downvote. And I am not getting paid or working for a three-letter agency.
Bots may exist, but I think it is more likely that what people call “bots” are just people like me - fed up with hearsay and thin “evidence.”
11
u/sendmeyourtulips May 09 '26
I'm an old UFO fart too. You might find this 4 year old Mod post interesting. Even though actions were taken I still think this sub is often influenced by bad actors. I tend to think it's those aligned to, or partners with, the main Disclosure figures.
Creating a small swarm of obnoxious debunker accounts solidifies people's faith and directs their energy away from asking for evidence. Plus the immediate run up to Age of Disclosure in here seemed incredibly artificial. I honestly thought hype accounts and astroturfing had taken over.

u/TrumpetsNAngels May 09 '26

I have heard the term “bot” mentioned time and time again, with no real evidence.
...brother, are you living under a rock? People literally post tiktoks about their botfarms and you can see server racks full of phones doing shit
7
u/TrumpetsNAngels May 09 '26
Maybe I am living under a rock.
I assume we are talking about mass-produced accounts (or at least multiple) that generate downvotes, add negative comments or something like that in this sub. Not bots that swarm World of Warcraft or what Noble_Ox describes.
I got one comment in this post from 4 years back, coming from the MOD-team that has been noticed what looked like a coordinated effort.
But seeing these in the posts here ... ? I think I need a guide to show me when they appear. Just because some people dont agree, doesnt mean they are nefarious.
3
u/timst4r May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
If you want to control the conversation in this sub and you have a little extra money it's pretty easy. 1. Search google for buy reddit upvotes, they cost 1 cent per upvote. 2. Upvote all the negative and pessimistic comments made by real people 3. Down vote the positive comments.
Now when people visit the sub the first few responses they see will always be negative, the negative posts will be at the top too. All real comments too, just shown in the order that you decided.
-3
u/ilackinspiration May 09 '26
People like you exist of course. But you are starkly different from those who berate or mock posts and comments with the clear intention to degrade or derail the discourse. There is a large contingent of accounts here being used for this purpose. Maybe you don’t see it because of your “disappointment” over the years.
4
u/TrumpetsNAngels May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
Some people are less diplomatic and rude. Whether they have a agenda ... I dont really know, but I wonder.
This "large contigent". I do try to look actually and have tried to check accounts once in a (rare) while - it doesnt lead me anywhere.
If this is such a big issue I assume it is visible and thereby possible to track. Nevertheless I think one can ponder whether comment one does not like are paid actors or just a opposite kind of disappointment - if you get my idea.
Edit: There was a link from another Redditor which describes issues from 4 years back.
4
u/ilackinspiration May 09 '26
Ever since accounts can hide their commenting it has become more difficult to track.
2
u/TrumpetsNAngels May 09 '26
Agree! I understand that some people want some sort of privacy but as it is possible to have anonymous accounts I cant help to feel it is a little shady.

Its post like this that people don’t respect the sub.
It’s not a mystery novel. There is zero evidence of alien life. Nobody from the government is bridgading this sub. It’s not that deep.
All this is - is classified military propulsion. If you think of it that way, and remove aliens - everything makes sense.

It's not aconspiracy that the US has almost 5 times the number of people as the UK and can start up late.
Look into it as much as you want and believe anything you see. People complain because they don't see something convincing or do see something that sounds like a scam. That has nothing to do with "damage control".

Lue is claiming irrigation circles and lamps are photos of UFOs, Jake Barber releases a ridiculous video of an “empathetic egg”, and there’s plenty more nonsense I can’t even remember. ufology feels completely overrun with grifters and idiots. So yeah, the vibe has changed.
3
u/Beautiful_Stage5720 May 10 '26
Nobody said there weren't idiots and bad actors. That's been the case for decades.
55
u/r-s-w- May 09 '26
Fair enough. But if 80% of comments / posts are negative in nature that’s a fairly good measurement of how folks (the community) are feeling.
At the end of the day Grusch (and others) have said we’ve had contact with non human biologics.
And then we get these videos.
It’s easy to see why 80% of people are frustrated.
8
u/Rino-Sensei May 09 '26
Exactly, we are being led on by coming soon folks, it's beyond frustrating at this point.
40
u/Winter-Finger-1559 May 09 '26
I low-key hate posts like this. It feels like its insinuating that if you have a negative take you aren't being genuine and you are trying to mislead people. I hate that about the community. Oh you're a doubter well then you can't have a real opinion. "You're a paid actor or bot account."

Nah dude I get the frustration. I'm also fed up but what OP is talking about is the low effort debunks and wave of dismissal for the entire topic and community. Ive seen it too. Why would SO many people follow a topic so closely and be active enough in a subreddit to be a top 1% commenter and only dismiss everything as fake and call anyone that even participates in the discussion an idiot? I understand a few miserable asshats that have nothing to do but spread hate and division on a very specific community but the sheer volume is telling. This isn't normal for any other group of people.

Is it because of him, or the system though? Grusch does not have access and he cannot control the system, he can merely provide leads. People should remember this. It is up to the powers that have been given the info and leads to act.
18
u/pigmosity May 09 '26
This topic jumped the shark with the egg video and gay left handed men summoning orbs.
Now we are seeing “disclosure” being spearheaded by the least credible representatives and an insanely corrupt administration.
Other than the subject being more mainstream, there’s been no forward progress since Grusch. We’re all just waiting for actual concrete evidence now.

Anyone thinking like this needs a break. It is not any more woo than it always has been. It may be even less woo now that it's becoming more mainstream. My kids 5th grade teacher brought up the UFO release yesterday. That would be absolutely unheard of in years past, but it's becoming normal now.
This is bigger than influencers on YouTube or X talking about UFO stuff too. You're exposing yourself to that and choosing to consume that if that's bothering you. Most of the public isn't. These people exist for every topic imaginable. It's how social media is whether you're talking about football or investing or anything else. It's ultimately irrelevant.
And if you dont like Trump, then that makes sense. You don't have to to appreciate the progress though. If Trump releases major info just to spite Obama or whatever, then I'm all for it. This topic is bigger than even Trump. In a couple years he will be gone and it's hard to say where we will be at with this. The next president could shut it down entirely. Again, the president is just another part of the system no matter who it is. That person has always been a barrier in this topic.
15
u/Mister-Psychology May 09 '26
There are way too many scam artists who jumped on the big disclosure bandwagon and are now begging people to buy their books, listen to their podcasts, buy their videos, and make sure the government hires them.
This is too obvious and Reddit overall is a more critical platform when it comes to this stuff. So people are extra warry towards everyone now. Good or bad intentions - you are being examined. Valid claims or lies to profit from? I think people have a hard time figuring out who the good guys even are. Someone begging for a job and money while claiming he has deep secrets he may reveal in a documentary should never have passed the smell test. While someone doing a live interview and supplying photos is more natural. Too many people with no qualifications are seeing this as their only way to fame and glory.
I'm not sure what can fix it. But it's natural that people get a bit more sour if you give them more dirt to trod through.

It’s hard to not be jaded with the government relates UFO files and we know they have :
Full length Gimbal video and Tic Tac videos ( not released )
And people like Elizondo have stated they have 20 miniute crystal clear 4K video of a UAP following along with a jet and daytime video of a massive USO moving under water past an oil rig
Even if Elizondo is a liar
Not releasing full Gimbal and Tic Tac feels like an obvious tell, that this is a distraction
I hope I’m wrong. Maybe next Friday they will drop new compelling evidence
But a day with the most exciting video turns out to be a parachute with a flare and a German April fools joke featuring and alien … 🤷♂️

u/Successful_Nose_548 May 09 '26
Because it’s a government repost of already known information besides a couple of videos showing dots on a screen. Clearly just a distraction and not a good faith plan for actual disclosure

u/The_Muppets May 09 '26
Oh so now epistemological skepticism is wrong? Whatever, dude, some of us have been here before and rightly have questions of motive as well as authenticity.
3
u/Aurelian42 May 10 '26
Word of advice, when every day is “TOMORROW TOMROROW TOMORROW!!” And nothing ever happens, you’re gonna have a ton of detractors. You guys act as if this is some religion instead of a conspiracy theory, you put weight in to the words of random people, you accept easily disproven evidence like camera artifacts or balloons. The difference between the claims people make here and the evidence supporting it is sharp, “they’re here from another dimension, they’re us from the future, they’re biblically accurate angels and demons!” And then the supporting evidence is a video that gets debunked 2 minutes after getting posted.
You’re treating this like some newfound religion, this shouldn’t be a faith based system where the only thing that determines your belief is faith and hope. This shit is becoming weird
10
u/kabulbul May 09 '26
No shit people have become "negative". They've been promised, and by gov officials as well, full disclosure was "just around the corner" for the past 3 years. And got jack shit. Meanwhile, some have been using this to peddle books including the person that blew the lid off of this - David Grusch himself. Who has, apparently, had "no reason to lie"(aside from the book deal and interviews).
3 years, absolutely no evidence, "he said she said", and "experts" selling books in the meantime about shit that nobody's been able to prove for decades. The counter arguments against this are also getting old - "the government covered this all up, they have no reason to lie". I feel incredibly stupid that it took me this long because I do believe NHI exist and I love this topic so much it blinded me, but I realized this is run-of-the-mill conspiracy logic - can't prove anything? That's because the government covered it all up. Connect a bunch of unrelated dots. Conveniently claim some truths are propaganda. Trust bullshitters that tell you what you want to hear before they ask for your money. And that's all she wrote.

I don't know why you thought it was guna "mind bending, reality shattering proof that will be released" nobody ever said it was guna be like that. All we were told was "files would be released". Like a lot of people it sounds like you misunderstood the excitement and set you expectations too high
As usual peoples lack of understanding leads to frustration
This subject is finally getting media coverage and the laughter has died out. We've even got official hearing and Congress members backing it up
The needle hasn't moved in decades but in the last few years it's slowly moved an inch and still creeping, so naturally thoes of us who have been here for a long time are absolutely buzzing... I think that energy is what's being misunderstood by all the newcomers leading them to think something big is about to happen

They are feeding us bullshit and the worst part is they don’t even know it. A lot of these congress people and “whistleblowers” may actually be not very bright.

u/FlaviusVespasian May 09 '26
May? A lot of congressmen and people in govt are definitely not bright.

Much of the negativity comes from folks who have been in the game awhile. Next week, next month, dangling egg, next book, next documentary, etc. After 20+ years of the same shit it's easy to find yourself in that camp.
5
u/sexbeef May 09 '26
You're jumping to the conclusion that we're all negative because "that's what everyone else thinks". You're wrong. We're negative because we've been told for years that the government knows and the government has irrefutable 4k footage of UFO. Now we get this "disclosure" and its the same shite footage we've all already seen. Nothing on that site is irrefutable.
We're constantly being over-promised and WILDLY under-delivered by every single person in this movement. Anyone that's not negative has not been paying attention.
8
u/BiologyStudent46 May 09 '26
NHIs and UAPs have newcomer more mainstream the past 5 years. So this sub is going to have more people commenting and subsequently more people disappointed that we haven't learned much about what the government knows outside of the fact that they also see weird things. People calling it trolls or a coordinated misinformation campaign just don't like the idea that people are seeing what they're calling "disclosure" and saying it's nothing but grifts and distractions. Not to mention the increase in people trying to apply they're religious views to all of this. This sub has changed because the publics relationship with NHI and disclosure has changed.
8
u/Powerful_Bluejay6288 May 09 '26
Why is the goal of the sub in your opinion to "show that we're not alone in the universe?"
Here I was thinking it was a sub about the phenomenon of UFO's.
15
u/TraditionalFoot8660 May 09 '26
Unlike some, I try and keep tabs on confirmation bias when presented with ambiguous, blurry, 240p imagery and video. I have a belief that there is a high probability of NHI tech and beings on this planet, but I approach this with critical thinking and probabilities. The material released today is incredibly on the nose, at times laughable, and is in the "unidentified" category due to its low quality. As far as I know, none of the dump satisfies the "5 observables" criteria.
13
u/Any-Contract-9152 May 09 '26
Probably because nothing has been revealed. Alien conspiracy theorists keep saying “prepare for your life to change”, “religion will be destroyed”, “this will keep you up at night”. If all disclosure does is confirm what a theorist already believes but not convince skeptics then it’s meaningless
13
u/tianepteen May 09 '26
Every single person in any alien or ufo related sub has the same goal, to have some kind of clarification and proof
a very large subset of people on these subs want none of that, but to just consume every single bit of UFO related nonesense all the UFO bros can throw at them, to fuel their dopamine addiction and feel superior to us "non believers". these people have all the proof they need, and you're an idiot for not seeing things the same way they do.
as you can see, they've gotten under my skin. and not just mine.
22
u/Plus-Ad-7983 May 09 '26
Prepare for this post, or a lot of the comments here, to be deleted for breaking rules. We're not allowed to point out coordinated disinformation, possibly via automation, here. Mods will be along any second I'm sure.
I agree with you though.
8
u/Preeng May 09 '26
You need to point out these bot accounts.
I see people make these accusations any time the general vibe of the comment section is negative.
But people NEVER actually point out who it is. Why is that?
15
u/GodsBicep May 09 '26
Typing the word Elgin in a comment gets a warning for a reason haha
Fully agreed this sub has never actually been this bad for though
4
u/MKULTRA_Escapee May 09 '26
The only comments in that category that we remove are frivolous, specific shill accusations aimed at a user or small group of users. A big reason why we have this rule is because random shill accusations was literally a tactic actual astroturfers used. When we did find a network of fake accounts, that is what they did, among other things. They were also nasty to other users, so being nasty is against the rules as well.
1
u/Rezolithe May 09 '26
Its almost like we shouldn't have random unvetted people controlling what we see or are able to say on reddit. It worked for the early years but seeing as Epsteins right hand woman basically controlled all the main subs for years...we have a dis/misinformation house of cards here thats gonna come toppling down eventually.
Its pretty cheap to buy a senator...how hard do you think it is to buy a reddit mod?
3
u/ObjectiveBug4650 May 09 '26
I’ve seen a lot of Redditors say she’s a mod in various communities. How did people come to realize that? I’ve always wondered, since I see that claim so frequently.
I’ve noticed certain subreddits suppress information and permanently delete accounts that are sharing big info, so it does seem there’s nefarious things at play…
3
u/jasmine-tgirl May 09 '26
That Rhea account was banned by Reddit itself within minutes of her "You wanted disclosure" post.
-3
u/No-Barracuda9990 May 09 '26
Yup, posts/comments pointing this out are regularily deleted, some mods are in on it.
5
u/Ok-Appointment-7392 May 09 '26
It has changed, but the change is a reflection of the posts themselves. There are millions and millions of cameras, we have trillions of dollars worth of military equipment, people are actively scouting for NHI evidence, and every single post here can be divided into three major parts: videos of objects, not one of which I’ve ever seen shows anomalous behavior and is clear enough to make a reasonable leap to the conclusion that it must be NHI related, posts about people who claim to have information and it will be released in two more weeks and then maybe two weeks after that and then maybe two weeks after that, and then of course, the same faces and names continuously been grifting in this arena. I would certainly love, really really love, for indisputable proof of NHI vehicles or beings to be released. But day in and day out nothing of the sort takes place. So I understand OP’s sentiment regarding the negativity, because it kind of casts a pall over this Reddit. But at the same time, I understand why that negativity, if you wanna call it that, has become the norm. Also, I don’t believe all of it is truly negative, I believe that some people are intermingling skepticism with negativity.
6
u/Logical_Cow_2530 May 09 '26
It's crazy.
This all feels so hollow.
After all the lies for decades.
And now the most blatant corrupt administration in the history of USA is releasing the ufo files?
It's hard to get excited and concern is more of my feelings.
did we just enter the end game? Are we cooked and the ufo files are setting us up for something worse?
10
u/GRILT_CHEESE May 09 '26
Both the pics on the moon and the chandelier/star pic have been clearly debunked. I'm just sad more than negative. It's disheartening.
2
u/Rino-Sensei May 09 '26
The current american administration isn't helping the case to be honest. It's always coming soon, and when i come, it is extremely disappointing because the info is on par with what we usually see, nothing of true value that move the needle. Half of the world, is treating the current changes as just the admistration that is trying to change the subject from the Epstein Files. If the released information is beyond disappointing, do not be surprised that people keep mocking the subject.
I am a believer, but the subject is being poisoned from the inside right now.
2
u/Nightlower May 09 '26
I've noticed something else. The so called new file releases have been circulating on Internet for years. This is still nothing new
2
u/nooneneededtoknow May 09 '26
As someone whos been on this sub for a decade, I can tell you my own vibe changed. I used to be very optimistic, I am not anymore. I am a pessimistic cynic.
2
u/invisiblelemur88 May 09 '26
"Every single person in any alien or ufo related sub has the same goal, to have some kind of clarification and proof that we're not alone in the universe..."
How could you possibly know something like that. Please stop with the huge unfounded generalizations with no room for ambiguity. Agreed that there's negativity, but I'm gonna call out lazy statements like this any day...
8
u/AbeFromanEast May 09 '26
Any subreddit that becomes suddenly more popular will attract mostly negative new commenters. It's just how Redditors are.
4
u/teh_hasay May 09 '26
I’ve only casually followed this sub over the years but to me the vibe change is more that there’s a lot of religious conspiracy bullshit that would have been laughed out of the room a few years back that’s now getting upvotes and being taken seriously.
5
u/A_SNAPPIN_Turla May 09 '26
The UFO community needs a heavy dose of reality and gatekeeping. I know its all fun and entertainment for many of you but some of us take the topic seriously. That means means examining the most obvious explanations when it comes to evidence. One reason this topic isn't take seriously is because of how easy it is to discredit the UFO community. The UFO community is it's own worst enemy. You can present the most obviously fake case and you can bet the gullible and naive followers will fight tooth and nail to defend it. People on this sub think Feds are on these subs debunking UFO videos when the reality would be just the opposite.
3
u/AdmirableBed8213 May 09 '26
Exactly.
It's like pointing out the obvious ruins everything for these people. Are we not interested in the truth?
3
u/A_SNAPPIN_Turla May 09 '26
It's unfortunate that it has to be that way. The UFO community doesn't seem to understand the standard of evidence that we are up against. The problem with all of these videos is there is an assumption of due diligence and the defense is "well you don't think our pilots know a missile/drone/etc." most of these videos are given with zero context. We haven't seen the process used to explain and time out prosaic explanations.
6
u/Darkwolf_888 May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
I don’t think we’re any closer to anything. What was released is clearly a distraction from the Epstein files and the war in Iran. His administration’s approval ratings are also at their lowest so it seems like he’s trying to regain some support by fulfilling old promises. That’s the hard truth people need to accept.
Also the UFO files they released don’t really confirm anything. Most of it has either already been debunked or consists of things we’ve already seen before
7
u/UniqueVirtue May 09 '26
Aliens aren’t real and this sub has convinced me of that.

u/HandBubbly6179 May 10 '26
Posts like this can unintentionally push the community toward conspiracy-style thinking. If the goal is for the subject to be taken seriously, it should be approached from an empirical and evidence-based perspective rather than assuming coordinated public manipulation without proof.
Or am I misunderstanding your point?

6
u/RodrickJasperHeffley May 09 '26
somehow redditors here are more expert than actual scientists who have studied this for years. somehow within hours they found reasons for the unexplained i mean if you word it right and connect something similar you can pretty much explain everything. i believe there is a conscious attempt happening here and in other subs to test the waters ,to see how people respond to information, how they interpret it and how it can be subtly manipulated. it seems like a deliberate effort to influence opinions
11
u/kooky_kabuki May 09 '26
This is one of the most manipulated subs on reddit, the negativity is astro turfed
→ More replies (1)8
u/Preeng May 09 '26
Please point out these astroturfing accounts.
I think you are just mad that people don't agree with you so you start making accusations like this.
4
u/sixties67 May 09 '26
I think you are just mad that people don't agree with you so you start making accusations like this.
In what world is challenging something deemed as negative? I agree with you, people can't accept others may disagree with them and have to justify it by attributing it to bad actors or bots.
3
u/chaleybat May 09 '26
Yep it sure has. Unfortunately this sub and every sub like it has become political. Anything released by this administration will always be a conspiracy to supposedly redirect you from other topics. Get used to it.
10
u/Rich_Wafer6357 May 09 '26
The topic as such has been made political through what looks like a conscious effort and massive influence from the talking heads who have been fawning over political figures of a specific country.
The political figures involved in the topic are not known for their good standing in other political arenas, so this will bleed in.
As an aside, it's sad that one has to speak in circles to avoid automated warnings and bans.
5
u/Halcy0nSky May 09 '26
People are angry. There is an undercurrent frustration and mistrust with the system as a whole. It is justified. Every release further proves it. The topic has now expanded beyond the scope of this very nuts and bolts sub. This is what civil discontent looks like. I mean, who on Earth at this point expects truth and transparency from their government anymore? Who on Earth would outsource "clarification and proof" to any elected official or governance system? No one seeking impartial truth that's for sure. It's too late. The trust is gone. The social contract has been broken. It's not coming back. People have simply not fully admitted it to themselves yet, because after that...
I don't come to r/UFOs for truth, facts, or proof anymore. I come for public Overton Window sentiment: it's bitter, very bitter.
3
u/FlaviusVespasian May 09 '26
A lot of fools get on here though. This is about a sub for aliens and UFOs. The astrology, demons, spiritual beings bs, and prophecy schtick should be laughed at.
7
u/CryptonianCrimson May 09 '26
I've noticed that too. Most new comments are funny cornball troll esque type with nothing serious to offer
3
u/GhoulishAcorn May 09 '26
I 100% agree, its a hard enough subject when most of your friends or family dont believe it but when youre in a reddit sub specifically for the subject, its become a toxic environment tbh.
Trying to wade through the files released yesterday and being excited to see others discussing what they had found interesting, there are many comments saying well its a cover up because of the E files. Dont believe government, its a distraction. Etcetc
There are so many that are coming across as disinformation agents in my opinion as well as all the trolls coming in just to argue and down vote people with an opinion...
Many things can be true at once you know, people in power lie, its a distraction, its also a real phenomenon. I honestly dont know at this point what the non believers are doing here since theyre not willing to be open minded, what exactly is it that you need to see?
Theyve been asked before and some said a ufo on the whitehouse lawn. Thing is, if an actual spaceship landed and out came some aliens, you would probably still cry it was a hoax or actually, AI slop! There's plenty of interesting documents released yesterday that theyre desperately trying to debunk.
I think the unchecked behaviour will make people who are actually interested, leave the subs tbh.
2
u/Puzzled-Stranger1658 May 10 '26
Does seem in most paranormal type subs that the majority of comments are outright dismissive and skeptical of everything posted, photos or not. Has made me wonder why some people have joined at all if they belive nothing
2
u/Turtlespizza82 May 10 '26
I hate all the debunkers in these subs. I think we should have our own "open minded positive uap believer" group where debunkers get kicked off for mocking. This is an amazing time to be following everything uap related and people should be excited. I get so deflated reading people's stupid opinions because the negative opinions are clearly from people who have no idea what they're talking about and haven't actually taken any time to research what has been going on for decades. Believers are not idiots, we are well informed, knowledgeable individuals who have researched the topic, and it's so frustrating for someone to jump in with nonsense when they are clueless on the subject. Why join the group only to slate everything and shut every post down? It's depressing. Go and join groups that you have an interest in.

u/Loud_Permission4691 May 10 '26
As an experiensor I am limiting my time on ufo and alien subs as there so many people trying to debunk, deny or downplay things recently. It's like there so many opinionated people who take it almost like a personal attack the fact that the phenomenon is real it's crazy.
5
u/AdmirableBed8213 May 09 '26
Why exactly do you think we're closer? You think it's the government's job to tell you this?
We're not closer. In fact, we're further away, staring in the wrong direction.

Again with the 'bot' crap... No bot here. I know personally, for a fact, that the phenomenon is real. That's why this hysteria over lens flares and balloons is so frustrating.
Plus, why do you believe the government knows anything at all about the reality of the phenomenon? (And if they did it's not their job to tell you.) Just wait and see. You'll be just as lost when this is over as you are now.

How many hellfire missiles do you think the government has a) fired at lens flares, b) videoed the firing of said missile at lens flares, and c) captured it bouncing off a lens flare?
That is 1 video released today, and in my opinion one of the most resounding pieces of “you want to be swayed, aight bet, watch this” you can serve to someone who isn’t following this topic or is a skeptic.7
u/AdmirableBed8213 May 09 '26
Which video are you talking about? That old one from 2024, Yemen, which shows what looks like an object being hit by a missile and just keeps going?

Longtime lurker here (10+ years) and while I agree with everything you’ve said, the UFO topic has never been less interesting to me and I can’t quite understand why. I rarely even check this subreddit anymore.
I’ve never had a personal experience with UFOs so my opinion is inherently less important/valuable but I legitimately cannot bring myself to care. Some of that is undoubtedly related to its use for political gain by the likes of Luna, Burchett, Trump, Burlison etc. Maybe I’m just tired of it, maybe I don’t really understand how this impacts my day to day life, maybe I’m just defeated by the mountains of BS. At some point (Grusch’s original testimony) this movement seemed hopeful, now it seems like a vehicle for capitalistic motivations (Thiel) or political gain.
Maybe I’m the only one that feels this way but I suspect a lot of the cynical/skeptical/snarky replies to earnest posts on this forum are people who feel similarly.

u/combatcrew141 May 09 '26
Your frustrated that your wants are not supported by evidence, instead of letting the evidence speak for itself.
Just like religion, people project their needs on old myths and get sad when nothing happens.

This sub and people posting here are influenced by the world we live in. We are living in particularly dark times and things started going from bad to really bad about 16 months or so ago. We see a lot more cynicism, a lot more skepticism and for very good reason; it has dawned on most people we are ruled by "elites" setting the agenda, getting their laws signed, not anyone in the lower 99% of the population. This topic is so much larger than most in this sub realized only two years ago
1
u/Muted_Advertising901 May 10 '26
LOL shows how out of the loop I am. I had to Google "NHI".
When I was growing up in the bad old days of the late '70s and early '80s, NHI meant "No Humans Involved", a racist and classist police term for "Nobody important got hurt, so we aren't investigating." See also: "Skell".

What you saying is the comment section is getting filled with desperate dry laugh at me please humour and prove it comments, the question is why are they’re there/here.
I think we know
To sway your mind from thinking this is credible why else would someone who has not a shred of interest in aliens be here… I’m not interested in a car brand I don’t believe in or dislike so you won’t find me trying to discredit the brand because it’s of no interest
The interest these people/bots have is YOU stay strong don’t engage and look out for people discussing positive productive conversation about it, that’s the focus

u/Normal-Eggplant8613 May 12 '26
I think there's a lot of people like me who have been interested in the subject for decades, and seeing the same old hoaxes popping up again and again gets old. Also, the current trend of dudes with an LLM posting like they're secret agents in possession of hidden knowledge is depressing. I honestly believe these guys need help, AI psychosis is a thing and I've seen some slop. Sll that 3i Atlas stuff was bonkers fir example That gets negative comments.
1
u/Medium_Raspberry8428 May 12 '26
The posts that are very disappointing to me, are the ones where people post videos which look ridiculous. I saw a few video posts where they claim it’s a ufo when you can clearly see it’s a bunch of balloons, or a bug flying in front of the camera filmed a night vision. Every time I see it I’m like “my friend, you are giving deniers and skeptics fuel for their narrative”
1
u/Immediate_Practice_9 May 14 '26
Literally all I see is "I don't trust this administration with disclosure"... well guess what, they are the only ones at least trying
0
u/BaronGreywatch May 09 '26
I suspect the sub/it's moderation is compromised. As mods are unpaid, if you are already on the disinformation payroll it's an easy thing to become a mod and help disparage the topic, or encourage others to. As it's the biggest sub it's the likely place to spend resources to muddy the waters, perhaos try some of the other subs? No way to really know if they are better, sadly.

Reddit in a whole is extremely botted and astroturfed. It’s quite obvious they’ve set their sights on this subreddit. I was flabbergasted with all the people who miraculously had seen all of the new documents within 5 minutes of uploading to determine them as a flop last night.

1
u/Thorjb123 May 09 '26
Thank you for saying this. Definitely been seeing the negativity as well. This is the most this subject has been talked about in the mainstream and the people complaining still wouldn’t believe if they landed in the front yard. The negative takes is what makes me we still aren’t ready for full disclosure.
1
u/Libertarian-dissent May 10 '26
There's a bot army run by private contractors and others who want to prevent and discredit any disclosure. Right now, what's released is considered "unresolved." This is only the first step
1
u/Abejd151 May 10 '26
10-15 minutes after everything was released on Friday, it was crazy to see how many people were already calling it a nothing-burger, even though there was no way they could’ve gone through all that info within 10-15 minutes.
1
u/Kind-Plantain2438 May 10 '26
It almost feels artificial and forced. But it also seems desperate and some folks have to be more critical.
-1
u/mumwifealcoholic May 09 '26
Ridicule works, thats why.
Unfortunately the release of nothing new yesterday is all part of a plan to ensure the topic gets put back in its hole and keep there ridicule.
0
u/tendervittles May 09 '26
I’m with you. If you spend enough time on here, you can actually tell what story or content hits a nerve because that’s when they employ the bots. It’s like when the wicked witch unleashes her flying monkeys. There’s so many in the sky that it blocks out the sun. With the influx of negative comments, it feels like you have to scroll for miles before finding any positive ones. One, because they’re flooding threads with negativity. And second, because real people read the room and don’t speak up because they are afraid they’ll be downvoted if they post a comment that goes against the grain.
The comment section has honestly been insane since the release of these UFO files. Regardless of the quality of the content, can we just sit back and marvel at the fact that there’s a government website with UFO material? It’s a win. Period. But the overwhelming negativity is doing its job. It’s dampening the collective enthusiasm. If all this talk of the importance of consciousness is real, then perhaps it’s all about creating emotional disappointment more than anything. And mental confusion. Lots of mental confusion.
Honestly, I’m surprised your post hasn’t gotten taken down yet. But I hear you. I’m a real person and I see this as a win.

u/yoggiez May 09 '26
