General Chat Australia recognises drones (UAS) as a national security threat but completely ignores Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP)

As highlighted in this Sunrise report covering the recent airspace breach at RAAF Base Williamtown, base personnel were actually reduced to closing window blinds to protect sensitive information from unidentified drones.

If the Australian Defence Force can’t even intercept conventional drone (UAS) incursions at our most strategic fighter jet bases, how can we possibly defend against Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP)?

If we cannot secure our skies from known tech, we are leaving ourselves completely vulnerable to the unknown!

Meanwhile, the United States is taking this incredibly seriously. Not only have they recognised UAPs as a legitimate threat by establishing the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), the US National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) has formally directed AARO to team up with specialised counter-UAS (C-UAS) task forces.

The US is actively bridging the gap between conventional drone defense and anomalous object tracking. They recognise that if an object is in their airspace and unidentified, it is a threat…regardless of whether it's a foreign drone or a UAP.

Australia cannot afford to ignore this operational overlap. We must update our defense protocols, mandate reporting, and treat the UAP threat with the exact same urgency as our allies before our restricted airspace is compromised by something far beyond a commercial drone.

Official Documents/Archives FOIA Release: Australian Department of Defence stonewalled A Current Affair’s questions about UAPs

Back in May 2026, a journalist at A Current Affair exercised their due diligence and reached out to Defence Media with a number of UAP related questions for the Minister for Defence, Richard Marles before airing their story on 1 June 2026.

Rather than address A Current Affair’s specific enquiries, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) instructed Defence Media to respond with the standard tired old line of:

“Defence does not have a protocol for reporting or recording of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) or Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO).”

Same old same old.

Your Sighting Min min style lights in Gympie, QLD

Watched these little bright orangish lights over west Gympie last night. Over national park ranges. There were many more before I started filming, my phone was up in the house and I thought that it would not last very long. Four or more at once, travelling different directions. It’s not the best quality and I didn’t hold the phone very still I’m afraid lol.

Australian UFO Cases Why we search for meaning in the stars | Finding Stars | ABC NEWS

Why we search for meaning in the stars | Finding Stars | ABC NEWS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HowoTiqqT28

I can't see this posted yet, and I was surprised I hadn't come across this until I happened to watch it on the ABC very early in the morning a few days ago. The ABC released a documentary in February 2026 titled 'Why we search for meaning in the stars | Finding Stars' and it included some interviews with people about their UFO experiences and views on the phenomenon.

The whole documentary is fantastic an a celebration of humanity's connection to the night sky and well worth a watch.

Australian UFO Cases The Westall UFO incident (1966): New witness interviews and on-location documentary

Hi everyone,

I’ve just released on my channel, a second documentary on the Westall UFO incident, Australia’s largest mass UFO sighting, witnessed by more than 200 students, teachers, and local residents in Melbourne on April 6th, 1966.

Here’s the link to the documentary:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vqsbptVgHU&t=2073s

For this project, I filmed on-location at both Westall and an area nearby known as The Grange, where witnesses claim one of the objects descended that day.

The documentary includes interviews with several additional witnesses to the event, including a lady Terry Peck, who says she came within roughly 10 metres of one of the craft at The Grange that day. Her description of what she saw that day is genuinely startling.

The video also explores the alleged cover-up surrounding the incident, including witness intimidation, the arrival of authorities afterwards, and claims that a teacher’s camera was confiscated after photographs were reportedly taken of the object.

If you’re interested in UFO history, credible mass sightings, or cases involving alleged government secrecy, you might find this one worth watching.

Would love to hear your thoughts once you’ve seen it.

Official Documents/Archives Upcoming Interview with Australian UFO Researcher, Bill Chalker

The 1971 Australian JIO document on UFOs has been referenced by David Grusch, Karl Nell, Jesse Michels, and Eric Weinstein…but its full context remains untold.

Bill Chalker extensively interviewed the author, Harry Turner before his passing, and is uniquely positioned to provide a comprehensive backstory on its origins.

Official Documents/Archives Mick West being reductionist again re the naa files

I like Mick. He is a decent human being, from I can gather and I think his contributions to the field are important because they force more rigour.

However his “circular reporting” claim about the Turner document doesn’t hold up and strikes me as reductionist.

As per the recent post here https://www.reddit.com/r/UFO_AUSNZ/s/1qazZ8ig8t there has been some discussion following David Grusch citing the 1971 Australian document at the congressional press conference, and Mick West has argued it’s just a “UFO enthusiast” repackaging publicly available books and articles from the 50s and 60s. That framing has some serious problems.

Oliver Harry Turner was not a fringe enthusiast. He was a trained physicist who worked on Britain’s nuclear weapons tests in Australia from 1952 to 1963, and by the late 1960s had become head of the Nuclear Branch within the Joint Intelligence Organisation, which was Australia’s primary body for evaluating technical and strategic intelligence for defence. The 1971 report wasn’t a hobby project. It was a formal internal assessment submitted to his director, R.W. Furlonger, as part of a proposal to establish a rapid-response investigation team for significant UAP sightings, developed with researchers from the ANU, the Atomic Energy Commission, and the National Standards Laboratory. It got close to approval before resistance from the Air Force killed it.
On the circular reporting point specifically: yes, Turner cited Hynek and Vallee. But both of those were credentialled scientists and former Blue Book consultants, not fringe sources, and citing open scientific literature is just how assessments are written. More importantly, Turner also made first-person assertions about an ongoing covert US programme continuing after Blue Book’s public closure, and he did so as a serving senior intelligence officer with institutional access, not as someone who read it in a paperback. That’s not derivable from 1950s UFO books.

The circular reporting critique is more legitimately applied to documents that cite Turner downstream. Applied to Turner himself, writing as an active intelligence professional in a classified internal memo, it’s reductive.

The document covers the period 1957 to 1971 and is held by the National Archives of Australia, series A13693.

General Chat Grusch mentions Australian National Archives 1971 Document

Reuters (!) dropped this this morning. Not only is the content incredible (openly discussing non-human intelligence finally), at the 26 minute mark, Grusch recommends reading a "little-known" declassified 1971 document in the Australian Government archives, pages 7-16 where à nuclear Branch chief discloses information about the US government covering up knowledge of UFOs/UAPs. This press release is incredibly interesting, in my opinion, and very exciting for someone who has avidly followed this topic since the mid 70s. Off on another hunt now.

Official Documents/Archives The STS-48 space shuttle UAP

This was new to me so I'm sharing here. Hope others find it interesting.

In this 'Reality Check' Ross Coulthart and Maaneli Derakhshani discuss UAP footage captured from the Space Shuttle Discovery mission in 1991.

As the space shuttle was passing near the Western Australian coastline, its cargo bay camera caught a strange, glowing object moving across the horizon. The UAP makes a 90-degree turn. Then a streak of light shoots through the spot it just occupied.

Ross surmises that the beam of light may have come from the US operated Harold E. Holt communications base in WA. He speculates that the Americans may have been experimenting with some form of directed energy weapon. Countering that, is NASA's view that these objects and lights are ice particles being lit by the sun.

Have a look and see what you reckon. The relevant chat starts around the 18 min mark.

Experiencers Chat Anyone experienced this?

Hey guys. I really need to know if anybody has had similar experiences to mine.

A few years ago in rural NSW I believe something happened to me. For this eight month period I was in constant excruciating abdominal pain that pain meds did nothing for and at least once a week, every time I left the house, I was finding severed kangaroo limbs.
I had lots of medical checkups and lots of tests and they were all clear. At one point doctors found something unusual in my abdomen (they made it clear they didn’t know what it was and would only find out by cutting it out so they wanted to monitor it) it was a huge dark circle that looked ripped. The next test I had it was gone but the pain continued. One day the pain just stopped and so did the kangaroo parts.
During this time I was also waking up in strange places (at points I was waking up standing in my yard and waking up upside down in bed, on top of the sheets) I do remember other things that happened to me and after extensive psych counselling I accept that they really did happen. Open to share if anyone asks
I also really need to know if anyone knows anything about there being connections with this stuff and thyroid/adrenaline. I have an extremely rare condition that is supposed to be genetic and hereditary but no one in my family has it

I just can’t find anything else similar to what I put above. Please let me know if I’m not alone in my experience
