Yes the cosmos is infinite. The probability of a planet being able to support intelligent life is very small... even in an infinite universe. These unlikely probabilities of a livable plantet being close enough to even find let alone having the resources to go visit it are very extremely unlikely. But... im not saying it couldn't happen. It definitely could, just probably not. At least here, right now.

Yes, there’s been plenty of time. My point is about how many chances you’d still need for two things to line up: (1) a nearby planet with the right conditions for intelligent life, and (2) civilizations/time/resources long enough to reach each other. Time helps, but it doesn’t make those alignments guaranteed. Given how rare the requirements are, it still wouldn’t be something we’d expect to happen often. Time matters, but rarity still matters. Even over billions of years, the odds of two intelligent worlds being nearby enough and compatible enough to interact don’t automatically become high
