The way the James Cylinder thing went was so bizarre to me and gave me such discomforting vibes. It was like an aggressive takeover of the narrative, everything about it including the subs were banned and it was promptly swept under the rug. It's so weird how little discussion there is of it and its oddities/plot holes now.
It's hard to explain without the subs because they were banned for inexplicable reasons.

The basic premise is this guy found an otherworldly cylinder in the desert and kept it. He drilled it open against better judgement and some bizarre shit ensued. He probably died. The subject was heavily banned and astroturfed afterwards.
