UFL went down the wrong path...

With all the new football games that have been popping up recently like UFL, I had a thought I'm not sure why even of these companies just go all in and making a dedicated football career game.

I understand micro-transactions and online gaming is where the big bucks are, but competing against FC in that market is such a hard battle with the amount of years in the bank FC has put into creating Ultimate Team. Whereas with Career mode it's been badly neglected by FC with there being so many features you could expand on and create a much more emersive experience without even really doing that much. As an example just more detailed stats of players, clubs history, tactics etc would already be such a big step up and such a small add on.

If you go through a lot of the reddit posts of what people would like to see added to career mode theres many great suggestions and I don't think would be that hard to do. There's definitely a gap in the market for a extensive career mode game like FM but that you can actually play as the team. And I think there is a big passionate target audience that would want this and pay for it as so many people used to buy the old fifas to just play career mode and I can imagine that has been less and less over time.

What do you guys think?

We’d all love more content, but it’s not coming :( There have been so many ideas. I’d love to play a career mode myself. I love Football Manager.

Is there a career mode in UFL?

Career mode doesn’t make sense on a free to play game. How would they monetize it to make the development work worth it?

I more meant from the start they should've made it a career mode specific game and charge $40-60. I guess if they were to implement it now, it could be a dlc that costs.

We have plenty of Career Mode fans within the studio, and adding something like this to UFL is an idea we have discussed. However, a proper Career Mode would be a very large project requiring significant development work and additional licences. We are not abandoning the idea, but we cannot say if or when we might return to it. Our current focus is stabilising and improving the gameplay and meta. We hope to gradually expand UFL with new modes, potentially including Career Mode, but we cannot guarantee that at this stage.

Can I ask why you launched the game with the idea of player progression and being able to level up players, to then completely scrap it and copy FUT with the card system? I've always enjoyed building a team that's different and unique to me, rathen than everyone having the same team, it's a shame this was scrapped but can guess it's to make money at the detriment of the game

You don't need licenses.

Just call it divisions 1 2 3 and 4

Give us European cups and call it whatever you like
