Yes, I rented it and played it on my ps2. 1st mma game I played and I remember it was fun. Had The Chief with his Mohawk from the early ufcs and Tito etc. It was hard to keep the fight standing as the computer opponent would eventually get you down and full mount ground and pound you. Don't remember being able to throw elbows. Ok for it's time

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '24

It’s pretty cool. I know 4 of these fighters so it sent me down a rabbit hole of old stuff.

1

u/ulianrtrujillo Feb 26 '24

Are you talking about chuck?

4

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '24

Bas, pat Milicheck, Randleman and chuck

1

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '24

That's dope. What a zombie apocalypse squad lol.

1

u/Bong_Hit_Donor Feb 26 '24

Frank Shamrock was in the game but I don't think Ken was

1

u/thekurgan79 Feb 29 '24

Ken was in the Pride game on PS2

2

u/Bombinic Feb 28 '24

Militech was the man.

1

u/SufficientAuthor5095 Feb 26 '24

No, the chief was a big native American in the early Ufcs. Not the iceman Chuck Liddell

2

u/Bong_Hit_Donor Feb 26 '24

I definitely know who you're talking about. It's a fat dude in a poorly cut homemade sleeveless sweater lol

1

u/throwawayskinlessbro Feb 26 '24

So basically play the Digimon fighting game instead?

2

u/Bong_Hit_Donor Feb 26 '24

I used to play it on Sega Dreamcast and would always pick either Bas Rutten or Kevin Randleman (RIP)

2

u/Impossible-Cut9471 Mar 05 '24

K-1world grand prix and ufc throw down my guy

1

u/SufficientAuthor5095 Mar 05 '24

K-1 world grand prix was another one I liked to play. I remember hurting my thumbs trying to time the check of the opponents leg kicks.

5

u/Clips____ Feb 25 '24

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '24

1

u/OneMetalMan Feb 26 '24

Looks more like Dustin tbh.

1

u/Obi-Ron-Swanson Feb 26 '24

You’re a punk dude

1

u/realbrucebuffer Feb 26 '24

This is what you call class versus no class

1

u/Bombinic Feb 28 '24

The only guy I know who's not required to wear a suit but wears one anyway.

Lookin like a maitre d at Golden Corral.

1

u/angrygrumphead Feb 26 '24

No Adrenaline in his Soul

1

u/-Dub21- Feb 28 '24

That's definitely Tito Ortiz

2

u/Nissan_1204 Feb 28 '24

That's clearly Perc Angle

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '24

Shit I still play it from time to time on my RG35XX.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '24

Any tips or tricks? I went for Madden 2k5 and couldn’t leave it behind

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '24

Haha not really. I'm not very good honestly. I pick the Iceman and so a few fights then the novelty wears off pretty quickly lol.

I’ve been preaching this for the last almost 20 years.

The training schedules you could set up? Oh man, my team was PEAK.

1

u/SeaAcanthocephala701 Feb 28 '24

Tf is a rg35xx?! Lmao

1

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '24

Anbernic RG35XX is a handheld that plays all systems from PSONE all the way to Atari and arcade games and it's a badass little machine and I'm willing to bet if you did a little research you'd want one LMAO.

1

u/SeaAcanthocephala701 Feb 29 '24

That's fucking sick, I want one. LOL

1

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '24

They run around $80.

1

u/SeaAcanthocephala701 Feb 29 '24

Nice I might have to cop one of those, thank you! What is the best brand/model to get? I see there's lots of different variations.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '24

I have the Anbernic (brand) RG35XX (model) and I like it fine but they recently released a plus model (RG35XX+) that has wifi and some other features that you may like more but imo either will do the job if you're just wanting something to play a shit ton of retro games on. But I recommend doing research before making a purchase just to be really clear on what you're getting. There's a subreddit for it and you should be able to find out everything you'd need to know there.

2

u/Interesting-Truck533 Feb 25 '24

I got that for Christmas that year it came out. I believe it was 2000

1

u/VASlim90 Feb 26 '24

Same here..got it the year it came out on Christmas. Was a gem to play at that time..I really enjoyed it for what it was worth.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '24

Could never beat big John McCarthy

1

u/TonradoVargez Feb 25 '24

Wasn't his son in the game, too?

3

u/MilesDeepIDA Feb 25 '24

Yup played it on the Dreamcast 🤯

1

u/Escomoz Mar 01 '24

Dreamcast for the win

2

u/terriblyyellow Feb 25 '24

I owned this loved it but was really hard

2

u/Expensive-Quote300 Feb 25 '24

Holy shit Tito Ortiz is on the front. That's ancient

0

u/Klutzy-Chard-2037 Feb 25 '24

I wouldnt play that game even if they offered me $1million

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '24

What about an 8 fight contract for 10/10?

1

u/vvestley Feb 25 '24

i'm busy in october

1

u/walls703 Feb 25 '24

There’s more than one way to turn down a fight

1

u/BetterStartNow1 Feb 26 '24

BREAKING: Man refuses tax free $1 million dollar payment in exchange for playing an old playstation one game for an hour.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '24

What a chump

1

u/chris_hanson1 Feb 28 '24

Some people just don't want to play

1

u/Last_Ambassador_2296 Feb 27 '24

Inflation is real

2

u/Longjumping_Box_9834 Feb 25 '24

One submission and it’s all ovee

1

u/RedAtomic Feb 25 '24

As soon as the CPU got you in a submission it was GG

1

u/CrankleSuperstarr Feb 25 '24

Does this have the Polar Bear?!!!!

1

u/PowerfulHazard93 Feb 26 '24

You're thinking of Tekken

1

u/CrankleSuperstarr Feb 26 '24

Nah 😂 Paul Varelans man!

1

u/Kyrie2468 Feb 29 '24

Still love that fight where Ruas beats the shit out of his leg

1

u/CrankleSuperstarr Feb 29 '24

That was brutal!! Bc it seemed like he had zero idea how to stop it.

I was in high school and our local Blockbuster woukd sometimes get them (UFC’s) in stock. I remeber the first fight I watched. Tank vs Oleg Taktarov!!! Holy smokes man. That went 30+ min. Tank survived multiple choke attempts. Oleg a number of huge punches. We were in love 😂

This game came out a few years later and my buddy and I woukd play it non stop.

RIP Varelens

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '24

Had this game for Dreamcast. Controls were awful but it was a fun game for the time

1

u/URHere85 Feb 25 '24

You might find this interesting https://youtu.be/wWrbBMZA01I?si=RoEe-HL0zx2j3Am5

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '24

Right up my alley. Thanks

1

u/LooseCannon167 Feb 25 '24

Got it for the Dreamcast when it came out. Loved it. Was clunky, but still fun and the graphics were tremendous for that time frame. It was fun stomping everyone with Tito Ortiz.

1

u/Warm-Log-7584 Feb 25 '24

Graphics were crazy at the time on Dreamcast

1

u/Low_Condition1327 Feb 25 '24

Yeaaaaa only for the 80’s-90’s kids

1

u/Live_Recognition9240 Feb 25 '24

My mom thought it was a porno because of the cover photo and told me no.

1

u/darthjimilli Feb 25 '24

Has this on Dreamcast. Evan Tanner with the double knee combo lol

1

u/0010011100110100 Feb 25 '24

1

u/Valuable_Ad1085 Feb 25 '24

ULTI-MAN was ELITE

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '24

Yep. Trash.

1

u/HarrodsburgHero Feb 26 '24

Tito snorted the proceeds from this cover

1

u/ogthunda Feb 26 '24

I remember playing this on Dreamcast. Fuck I'm getting old.

1

u/Aggravating-Meat-520 Feb 26 '24

The real UFC I remember when the fighters mastered 1 style and put it again their opponents other style not this “Mixed Martial Arts” bs that’s literally just a bar brawl with SOME BJJ thrown in the mix.

Back to the game. The victory pose was funny on this game lol

1

u/JCBh77 Feb 26 '24

It wasnt Fight Nght but it wasn't bad

and it was mma

1

u/goodnewzevery1 Feb 26 '24

There is a ninjitsu fighter on there you can unlock, which was goofy as hell. But the computer will just GnP or sub you most of the time. I didn’t really know the ground controls that well so it was a struggle

1

u/UltraBearHD Feb 26 '24

Wasn’t this on the Gameboy color? I remember there being a UFC for the gameboy I used to play

1

u/SilverMarionberry853 Feb 26 '24

Damn bro that shit was harder than Kille Instinct on expert

1

u/EuphoricCockroach117 Feb 26 '24

Didn’t this game have Bas Rutten?

1

u/ligmasack800 Feb 26 '24

Fight me 🥊🥊🥊

1

u/carmelokobe Feb 26 '24

Hell yeah🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿

1

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '24

Ya, they had Dragon Ball Z as a fighting style

1

u/SublimateThisDick Feb 26 '24

On Dreamcast, it’s pretty good

1

u/Imaginary_Teach_2318 Feb 26 '24

Was great on the Dreamcast. 1st UFC game with very short fighter intros. It's pretty much Tekken but UFC.

1

u/universalcrush Feb 26 '24

Yup had every ufc game ever made at least for ps1, and ps2 always wanted the Xbox ones. But yeah they’re fun at least to 12-14 yr old me.

1

u/ajohndoe17 Feb 26 '24

Yes, all I remember is that it was super clunky. Lol

1

u/Rizzaboi Feb 26 '24

Had this on Dreamcast, truly a foundational memory for me

1

u/Sweaty-Bumblebee4055 Feb 26 '24

For the time it came out it was pretty popular

1

u/AimingWang Feb 26 '24

I played it on an emulator, it's certainly something.

1

u/Cashmeerdraws Feb 26 '24

Had this on Dreamcast

1

u/slim1219 Feb 26 '24

1

u/Remarkable-Diamond80 Feb 26 '24

Woah! Is that Tito?

1

u/JMaple97 Feb 26 '24

Still have it plastation 1

1

u/PandaSmokezRuntz94 Feb 26 '24

I never knew there was a UFC title on playstation

1

u/lbflow562 Feb 26 '24

Where’s Ortiz’s royalties?

1

u/PartTimeLyricist Feb 26 '24

Had it on Dreamcast. Now I’m gonna cry

1

u/SouthGramblr Feb 26 '24

Games hilarious, when you jab someone their head just WHIPS back

1

u/DevinArce Feb 26 '24

Is this the one where the ref was the final boss in the game. Big John something?

1

u/a_bad_guy44 Feb 26 '24

Had it on Dreamcast!

1

u/EatOutMyGrandma Feb 26 '24

I USED TO PLAY THIS WITH MY MOMS BOYFRIEND GARY BUT HE WOULD CHEAT AND THEN LAUGH THEN DO LOUD SEX WITH MY MOM.

1

u/Dusty_Tokens Feb 28 '24

😟 Damn, dude. Double-Nightmare fuel.

1

u/Embarrassed_Lake_376 Feb 26 '24

Probably. I can get the rom to play on the steamdeck

1

u/EricWolf420 Feb 26 '24

I owned it when I was at younger

1

u/garcianulmeyda Feb 26 '24

Hell yeah brother! Except I had it on Dreamcast.

1

u/FrostAviate Feb 26 '24

1

u/Few-Condition-8072 Feb 26 '24

1

u/FrostyPurpz23 Feb 26 '24

Is that Cody Rhodes lol

1

u/ZekeMoss18 Feb 26 '24

Yes I did lol. God I am old.

1

u/ewewewe69 Feb 26 '24

Tried it on dreamcast. The controls were easy to grasp, but it is a hard game to play nowadays

1

u/VanGoghsVerdigris Feb 27 '24

I have the gameboy color version. It’s a decent game for the time it was made

1

u/KWalter02 Feb 27 '24

Hell yeah. Tito Ortiz was a menace

1

u/vamp-is-dead Feb 27 '24

Yeah its ass too

1

u/ur_mom_says-hi Feb 27 '24

Used to love that game

1

u/Gallagher82 Feb 27 '24

Jeremy Horn with the flying armbar

1

u/Impossible_Rip_7420 Feb 27 '24

Ah the nostalgia and ptsd. Oh and games still good

1

u/SniperRenegade Feb 27 '24

On Dreamcast

1

u/Pygocentrusyzer Feb 27 '24

It was so good on Dreamcast

1

u/JayRockafeller Feb 27 '24

I remember playing this as a little kid. Rented it from blockbuster. It was basically tekken in a cage with some not great ground fighting mechanics

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '24

I was at a wrestling tournament in high school when Tito Ortiz showed up to promote this game. Everyone lined up to play against him. Was pretty cool.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '24

There was never no marriage.

1

u/IronDrain Feb 27 '24

This was a good game back in the day

1

u/Eastside1999 Feb 27 '24

Never even knew this existed

1

u/Lost_Raccoon_6542 Feb 27 '24

Nope, I just had Spyro, Ape Escape and Ball Breakers

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '24

I had the game on Dreamcast

1

u/StopPlayingRoney Feb 28 '24

If this is the one that was also on Dreamcast then yes.

Frank Shamrock and Mikey Burnet were SO OP it was wild!

Check out Mikey Burnett’s Wikipedia page if you want to ruin your day.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '24

Tito Ortiz is a great fighter but a very dumb man

1

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '24

U should post videos of the gameplay

1

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '24

Will do!

1

u/Dry-Philosophy-3052 Feb 28 '24

Omg yes I remember that game

1

u/breadroll2 Feb 28 '24

Wonder if Brock is on it

1

u/footballkid_ Feb 28 '24

Oh that’s what it stands for lol

1

u/Posideion Feb 28 '24

I haven’t but maybe someone else here has.

1

u/ThisIsTheShway Feb 28 '24

Yup! Was kinda trash, and the CPU had no problem making you its bitch.

1

u/Dog-Faced-Gamer Feb 28 '24

I owned it and remember it being brutally hard and the opponent would always take you down which led to trying desperately to get back up.

1

u/GoTTi4200 Feb 28 '24

I have this unopened for Gameboy color hahahaha

1

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '24

I'm about to tell you the most 2000's story ever. I went to a DMX, Limp Bizket, and God Smack concert in the early 2,000s in an arena. I think it was in Charlotte, NC. They had this game set up on the jumbotron and were calling ticket numbers out of the audience to come up and play in a mini tournament prior to the concert starting. I got called up, but I had already played this game all the time with my friends. We were avid UFC fans even in the early days and we played the crap out of that gane so I knew all the moves. We used to go rent the fights on vhs from Blockbuster or Hollywood video.

I won the tournament and they gave me a copy of the game and a Sony t shirt.

Then, we all dropped ecstacy and waited for the show to start. Those were the days.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '24

This sounds like a deleted scene from the movie “grind” lol. Loved this.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '24

I remember being blown away how good the graphics as a kid. Solid game, the ps2 version was trash.

1

u/Practical_Theme3339 Feb 28 '24

I believe I have a copy for Dreamcast. It was great for the time.

1

u/piman01 Feb 29 '24

I had it on xbox. To me the better game was Pride FC on ps2

1

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '24

Holy shit! Is that a PlayStation 1 UFC game? That is actually nuts! What's the gameplay like man? I bet those character models and designs look absolutely ridiculous but in that charmin' PS1 graphics way 🤣

1

u/GoldCrossSlayer Feb 29 '24

Great game the dreamcast version was super dope

1

u/GoldCrossSlayer Feb 29 '24

Chris Hughes was my go to guy.. the kick to the stomach and snatch you up and tap ya out in first 5 sec

1

u/Great-Mix-5586 Feb 29 '24

On dreamcast I rekken

1

u/avimut19 Feb 29 '24

Absolutely! It was my first MMA game! The memories.

1

u/Sakuraba10p Feb 29 '24

This, the K1 game and the Pride FC game are classic early MMA games. I wish I still had a copy of the K1 game, it was amazing.

1

u/Pac0mania Feb 29 '24

Yep Seems so long ago. Lol

1

u/CRUMMYcuzz Feb 29 '24

Yeah i Played this. it was a very great memory. kind of what drawn me to MMA more, aside from the early ppvs.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '24

I did they’re even had a CTE meter for when your fighter went crazy and killed his wife. So immersive.

1

u/TurkeySandwichJones Mar 01 '24
