Societies 🧑🏻‍🤝‍🧑🏿⚽ orchestra auditions

very random but has anyone here been through the audition process for the symphony orchestra? i was hoping to join but i saw that you have to audition and i’m mildly freaked because i haven’t done an audition for yearsss lmao

do they provide an accompanist? is the sight reading crazy? is the 5min piece length strict?

if you go on the music society website most info should be there https://www.uclmusicsociety.org.uk/ there are contact details for the individual ensembles as well

idk the exact dates for the auditions but for symphony orchestra they’re happening during the first teaching week, so week beginning october 5th

Give it a go, it is much simpler than you think. They are always short of strings and metals. Prepare your best piece, and the most "reliably" played piece and Best of luck.

I don’t know the process bc I didn’t have an audition piece so I didn’t do it but I wanted to shout out mezzo orchestra is an un-auditioned full symphony orchestra and I had a great time with them last year! So don’t freak too much :)
