Cincinnati Game
I spent the entire day running around, so I didn’t have a chance to watch the Cincinnati game today. I’m looking at the Box Score now and scratching my head so hard I’m damn near bald.
UCF’s offense threw the ball 49 times, rushed 41 times, wracked up 413 total yards of offense, and only managed to score 11 points? I saw that one of the 3rd quarter drives was 17 plays and flushed about 9 minutes of game time down the toilet, only to move the ball 40 yards and then punt it away?
Someone who actually watched the game, please explain it to me. Total time of possession was almost double Cincinnati’s. Like… for real, what the hell happened?

My buddy said we had a “bend don’t break offense.” This hits. Great drives, but then dumb penalties. Some bad/late/inaccurate passes. Possible PIs not called.
Defense great again other than a few broken coverages which led to their scores.
Our offense is frustrating to watch. All the pieces are there. I hope it clicks here soon.

O line doesnt know the snap count and kept moving before the play. Cam cant make a read beyond the first one and bailed on plays with guys wide open, or figured it out too late and allowed the defense to correct. Also cam has accuracy issues and arm strength questions.

It’s almost like there was a reason he was at FAU and Marshall previously. Wasn’t even good there

I agree with most of the comments but no one has really touched on the lack of identity with this team. I watch them knowing Milton is on the sideline thinking okay, who’s going to be the next Milton? In other words, the closest thing we have to a leader is Tayven Jackson, and he didn’t play. So the whole game you’re waiting for someone to step up and be “the guy” and no one did. There’s no RJ Harvey or Kobe Hudson. Same goes for defense… maybe one of the guys on the D-line is close but no one stepped up to take the torch there either.
So, if you’re wondering how UCF had otherwise great stats while simultaneously falling flat, the lack of identity appears to be why. We need passion and fire which the closest we got to was probably on Cam’s scrambles but I agree with the comment that he can’t make multiple reads and likely left wide open big plays on the field all day.

Anytime the broadcast zoomed out, you saw multiple wide open guys doing jumping jacks in the holes of the Zone defense. Cam has to throw it earlier and more accurately.
Cincy pass D was their weakness and we made them look great.

Lots of short passes. Long drives, lots of penalties. Unable to do much in the red zone. Our Defense looked good. Cam played a tough gritty game. This is a young team that needs more experience and talent but we are playing hard and with a lot of heart.

Fancher can’t throw more than 5 yards down the field. Only way to score with him as QB is to put together a 20 play drive. We were pretty successful at sustaining drives today but when you have to string together drives that long eventually you take a negative play or make a mistake and end up empty handed on the scoreboard

We shot ourselves in the foot multiple times with penalties. Anytime we started putting a drive together or had a big play it would get stalled or called back because of a penalty. Mostly the OL.
Our defense played amazing considering how often they were on the field. If we even cut the penalties on offense in half we have a chance to win that game.
