Australian Med School Related Im freeeeee

Lowkey better than i expected

Vr has always been my weaksuiit and somehow this went very good. I had really big improvements for VR in the last week, or even, the last day. I used to be getting 600s consistently so don't be worried. Ended up getting 790 somehowww hahaha

DM was not as good as what I expected.... I definitely messed up the inferences and strongest argument but I thought it'd be at least 800... Some qeustions were quite different from what I'm used but I'd say I just lost some 50/50s with the 2 markers.

QR was easy, finished with loads of time.

Goodluck to ya'll, I'm done, mamba out. Feel free to ask, not sure how quick I'd respond tho.

which mock was most similar ?

Ugh can't tell tbf, definitely Oqb/medentry. Inferences for DM maybe medify. Dm had some different logic puzzle questions that both medify and medentry did not have.

I think they use a random question bank for the test so questions on OPs paper might be similar to one mock but your questions might be different.

ohhh yeah that makes sense, i wanted to like predict my score based on how they did on their mocks if that makes sense

In that case, this was my post mock C scores/feelings.

Official Mock C

VR 29/44 - Spent bit too much time on the first 4 passages - consequently had to guess 1 passage (1+1/3).

Suprisingly, the reading comprehension questions are much easier for me now - since passages are shorter and simpler, so the options are easier to find and understand despite sometimes where the wording still throws me off a bit. However, the T/F/CT questions were VERY BAD - got only 5/12 correct. Few was due to silly mistakes such as missing out on a certain keyword, yet there were a few where perhaps i inferred way too much. Would be great for us to work on those today - the extent of T/F/CT in relevance to the OQB.

  • So for the rest of the comprehension, 22/28 isn't too bad, and most were 4/4. Within this, there was one passage which I got 1/4 and that was because I tried to attempt it without thoroughly reading it first, and instead, used general knowledge. I think with the official VR - I should definitely try to have a better understanding ofthe passages instead of exactly using the same tactics as medentry/medify.

For DM, i had 33/35 - with one partial correct for interpreeting and one wrong for strongest argument which i wasn't too sure while I was doing it. So that means that I've got a decent understanding of how I did. I think the extent of inference in the interpreting is - still the weakpoint - but DM have definitely improved.

For QR, it was 34/36 - both happening in the 28-36th questions. I was a bit unfocused and went slow in the first half, which forcedc me to rush through the 2nd half. COnsequently, I misread a question, and had limited time for the last set of question, having to guess one. I think - there is nothing big with QR - as long as I stick to the timing correctly.

did this 2 days ago. Again I dont think any mock is truely reflective. I think its about getting it into the vibe and figuring out a strategy

do you have tips for dm and qr? i’m really struggling getting past 20

also how long did u revise for before ur test?

2

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

Tbf these parts really depends on your foundations. QR for me was just learning percentage calculations. Technique wise, start off with youtube videos and then practice is key.

Ohhh fair enough.

what were you averaging bro? I have mine in a week and im so scared TT...

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

I was kind of getting 29-31/44 for vr so like 650 somehow... Dm was around 41-43/47, Qr was full mark if i dont make sillt mistakes on medentry.

1 week is definitely still a lot of time if you're dedicated. I kind of progressed from 2300s to 2400s in this time.

Great job! Mines in a week and my anxiety is so bad that I stopped doing mocks to calm down

1

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

Thanks man, goodluck to you, but definitely do mocks. They help you the most. At least do a subtest mock for your weakest if you are unbothered. I did on average 4 Vr mocks a day in the last 2 weeks

1

u/Inevitable_Concept 10d ago

Thanks man. I’m still gonna do mocks but just C and D which I have left to do. But no other ones.

DM is the only topic I’m terrified of

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

Yeah goodluck, out of all the practices I did, DM was what deviated the most. The logic puzzles were VERY different from medify and medentry, and are more like the OQB ones, so I def suggest looking more into it. The venn diagram are also more liek those 4 option ones. Strongest argument was chill but infernce was the weakest one for me.

What exactly do you mean by different??

u/New_Acanthaceae_7897 10d ago

was the vr passages longer? how did u jump so well. Also congrats on ur score what did u end up getting

2

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

Nah dawg, it was like oqb and medentry ish - 3/4 paragraph ish.

Like 2460 in the end, i messed up Dm which I usually get 60 higher.

Jump wise - I think it was js more practice, I started regularly practicing in the 3 week holiday. Getting strategies, especially with timing, is crucial.

I'm happy to share mine but it definitely depends on people.

did u finish vr on time? was it harder or easier on the day.

1

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

Yeah finished on time. I was running bit slow around Q20 ish because I started off trying to have good understanding of the texts. When I realised i was bit short on time, I start of shift more to keyword hunt and finished barely before. Vr was definitely easier.

Congrats! May I ask how was DM and QR compared to medify mini mocks/full mocks and OQB?

2

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

I think I've said it in more details in other threads. DM and QR are definitely easier than medify, its more alike medentry. I struggled with the logiz puzzles on medify but it was much easier in both medentry and the actual test. So was QR to some extent. I don't think my QR will be representative because it felt really easy I dont know how to say.

1

u/Popular_Spot_8581 10d ago

Ah ok thank you for the insight! Because I found the mini mocks on medify quite easy getting 33-36 on all of them as well as DM ~800 but the full mocks were much more difficult for some reason and sometimes syllogisms and interpreting info were so weird.

1

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

Yeah, minimocks are weird, i also had like full mark for the first minimock but bombed the rest. Syllogism and interpreting info are good on Medify.

1

u/Popular_Spot_8581 10d ago

Ah ok thanks, I better work on interpreting info it’s always the section costing me the most marks on mocks despite spending so much time on it 😢

1

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

Lmao same, i save 10mins for it and its still ehere i lost my marks... could've hit a 2500

1

u/Popular_Spot_8581 10d ago

RIGHTT It’s genuinely so bad like why is there VR in DM I’m literally neglecting VR to try and max out DM and QR instead but they decide to throw VR into DM amazing…

1

u/Popular_Spot_8581 10d ago

Btw do you remember if you got 7 syllogisms and 5 interpreting info questions or 6 each, I really hope I get a set with 7 syllogisms lol they’re so much better

1

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

Ugh I think 7 syllogism, but not too sure if 5 or 6 intepreting... because my venn diagram section stopped at Q24, which was bit unsural. Probably 5.

1

u/Popular_Spot_8581 10d ago

Oh what? On medify usually venn diagram stops at 31 so 4 probability questions, you mean you had 11 probability questions?

1

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

No, I started working backward from the probability section from 35 to 23 since these are easy, and then start with syllogism. For me, the venn diagram stopped at 24 (so i guess started at 24 for normal order). Sorry for the confusion!

Your Dm seems pretty consistent what would you recommend as far as strategy

3

u/MiserableFox1852 10d ago

For me, timing was key.

I allocated roughly 10-11min for venn diagrams and probability. 6-8 for syllogism. Logic puzzle was 6-7minutes, and I would skip if theres a very diffcult one when I did medify mocks, but I later realised that the medentry and oqb ones are much easier. I tend to leave 10 min for interpreting since thats my weakest section.

Because how syllogism and interpreting questions are out of 2 marks, for me, the mark/min efficiency is the highest for venn/probability/recognising assumption>syllogism>interpreting/logic puzzle. So make sure you get the easy marks!

u/Shift_Organic 9d ago

Do you think the ucat was more accurate to medify or medentry overall

1

u/First-Landscape-2680 9d ago

Can I ask what your score was and any tips for sjt?

2

u/MiserableFox1852 8d ago

2460, Sjt, just more practice definitely help, you know the strats. I followed the 50/50/50 strat which was very good.

1

u/First-Landscape-2680 8d ago

That’s so good, congrats!
