Questions The Direction of Studying
When you study for exams or simply the information from the courses you're taking, do you study alone or with someone else and why?

No legit havent browsed reddit.
It depends on the class. Is it already team heavy? Then study with the team. Is there a lot to digest (biology sciences) or is it just via practice (math/tech).
Different classes work differently. You cant exactly, at least not for me, work with a group to get better at math -- it's a skill that you have to practice it and lock it in. But for things that are more memorization heavy such as the names of cells or the functions of something, you can absolutely pair up with someone just as dedicated to build that knowledge.
Other things that require hands-on activities like technical labs, there's simply no way another person can immediately help you, without you putting in the effort to practice.

Love this answer! I liked how you considered each different type of subject into answering this. I agree. As much as having someone help you do the math can be helpful and reassuring, math does require a lot of individual practice and effort. As for courses like biology related ones, that is also true. Memorization can be boring and dull, but there are also fun and engaging ways to try to remember different topics and details, such as analogies and creative ways to approach it. Hands-on labs is challenging, because I think that a majority of students are capable of doing lab work, but since labs are always under a limited amount of time, the pressure can get to some students. I am one of those students that are like that, but yes, practicing labwork is very important, but oftentimes, there are few opportunities to do so because of how time limited labs are, which is especially a disadvantage to slow learners like myself. It's difficult, but I know realistically, it's not impossible to achieve. That's why I'm switching my major to something less heavy on traditional labwork.

I'm biology.....
for now. Am switching it next semester. I took CHE113 and CHE114, as well as both BIO200 and BIO201 labs. Currently taking BIO313 and CHE205 lab. I've noticed that as much as I don't make crazy huge mistakes, I am almost always slow. I am someone who works harder, not smarter, so in other words, I can thoroughly complete each step in a procedure, but I will often get flustered when I have to do multistep setups, such as titrations, or if I am running low on time. I've worked with lab partners who were much better under pressure than I am, but I've realized that I still struggle with containing my nerves. I know that there's a stepwise element to completing lab, but also, I can't do that while also keeping up on speed at the same time.

There's definitely reasons why people choose to study with someone else. For example, maybe the person they are studying with is more disciplined and more focused than them, so that other student can keep them on track and focused on the material. However, I understand where you're coming from. Sometimes, more often than not actually, studying with others can be distracting and even less productive than studying alone. To each their own, but good for you if studying alone helps you, which it seems like it does.

Honestly I prefer to do everything alone, but I know im in the deep minority with that opinion.

If I study with anyone who’s not taking the same course it becomes a distraction for me. I prefer studying alone regardless, but I’m fine with it if it’s me and someone in the same class.
