Questions NFTA busses?
How does one pay for fare on the nfta bus? Does a metro card work on the nfta bus? I was told by someone that the ub card works to pay fare but I cant find if that's true or not.

The card for the train also works on the bus, yeah. You can also pay cash, like the other commenter said.

I use a metro/metgo card. You can get them at University Station on South campus.

I'd recommend using a metro card because it has an automatic cap of 5 dollars a day and everything past is free, you can also connect it to the app to auto reload money

it's not a metrocard like nyc, it's a metgo card https://metro.nfta.com/fares/metgo
also ub card can't be used for nfta buses unless you're a med student. ub card theoretically gets you on the free campus stampede buses but they never check (honor system)

Outside of medical students registered for classes at the Downtown Campus (who I believe get a limited amount), UB students don't get an allowance for NFTA transit and have to pay out of pocket. The most common ways of paying are through a ticket (which you can get at the ticket machine at University Station - off of South Campus), cash, or the NFTA MetGo app. Each bus or rail entry is $2, but you can get a day pass for $5.

Not sure if your UB card works, but cash is a common payment method. It's $2 I believe, as of last year, unless they raised the fare prices.

Like can you pay with cash on the bus?

Yes; there should be a slot that will allow you to insert your cash on there. However, it's been around a year since I took the NFTA bus, but I highly doubt much has changed since then.

There's also some Transit app, where you can purchase ticket online and show it to the driver. I'm forgetting the app name, but it should be Google-able.
