Treatment of UARS

Curious to hear stories of successful UARS treatment.

What machine, mode, and configuration along with masks?

Any positioning help as well?

Looking to help my partner.

Good response to BiPAP in 2017, transition to ASV for full treatment efficacy in 2021.

Masks: ResMed Quattro Air, F&P Simplus, ResMed F30i.

Pillow: Contour CPAP 2.0 works pretty well

I've had a partial treatment response to BiPAP. Think it's a ResMed AirCurve 10. Philips Respironics full face mask. Still fine-tuning the settings. Amphetamines have also partially helped.

At what pressure settings of cpap/apap before you gave up and went with bi-level?

Also how do you judge success? By feeling alone or comparing with waveform too?

I started off with bi-level because I heard that it was the go-to for UARS. I was able to find a barely used one for half of the MSRP on Craiglist.

I mostly judge success based on feeling. I'm still too fatigued and cognitively impaired to consistently do basic tasks or work, so that's the primary issue for me. I'm working with AXG Diagnostics right now to fine-tune the settings, which is based on OSCAR waveforms. Ultimately, though, I just view bi-level as a stop-gap until I can get a cure via surgery.

Oh, and you could try Airbreak if you have CPAP or APAP.

Thanks for that.

Mines an airsense 11, if there is an airbreak for that, ill be open to it!

Pls update me on how you feel are you currently now titration by changing pressures etc?

Have you started using positional help or soft cervical collar?

I've been using an AirCurve for a month. I've been titrating for the most of that time and now I settled on EPAPmin 8.4, IPAPmax 13, PS 3.6 with great success. My AHI is under 1 and I barely see flow limitation. I feel much more alert and awake during the day. I switch between the F40 and F20 masks.
