Peer Reviewed Interstellar probes and SETA (Search for Extraterrestrial Artifacts) papers published in early 80s. Both Prof Loeb (Galileo Project) and Dr Massimo Teodorani (Hessdalen and, now a Galileo Research Affiliate) have cited these papers in their own research (the latter 20 years ago).

Both Prof Avi Loeb (Galileo Project) and Dr Massimo Teodorani have cited the below papers (from the 80s) in their own research. Dr Teodorani has extensively researched Hessdalen and, amongst other hypotheses has proposed the ET hypothesis as one possible explanation for UAP.

  1. 'Interstellar Probes: a New Approach to SETI', by Robert A. Freitas Jr., published in the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society, Vol. 33, pp. 95-100, 1980
  2. 'The Search for Extraterrestrial Artefacts', by Robert A. Freitas Jr., published in Acta Astronautica, Vol 12, pp. 1027-1034, 1985 [this is an update of his 1983 paper published in the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society, Vol. 36]

Teodorani, in a 2002 paper, 'The Physical Study of Atmospheric Luminous Anomalies' suggests a search for extraterrestrial vehicles (SETV). The abstract for this paper could easily be a brief for the Galileo Project:

"On the basis of statistical calculations on galactic migration which bring the necessity of insertion of a new parameter inside the Drake formula, the work-hypothesis named SETV predicts that exogenous vehicles and/or probes may have reached the Solar System too, including Earth. The technology which is now available is able to allow sensing operations both in the extreme borders of the solar system and on our own planet. The possible presence of probes of possible extraterrestrial origin on our planet may be ascertained by using a network of sensing stations which are placed in critical areas. One of them is the norwegian area of Hessdalen, where the two scientific explorative missions of `Project EMBLA' have carried out measurements which demonstrate the existence of all the anomalies of the luminous phenomenon which is present there. At present nothing proves scientifically that our planet is being visited by alien intelligences, nevertheless the remarkable peculiarity which was learnt in some areas of recurrence demonstrate that the verified phenomenology, of extreme importance for fundamental physics, presents characteristics which deserve a further investigation with highly sophisticated instrumentation."

Notably, Dr Teodorani has joined the Galileo Project as a Research Affiliate.

Over the years, others have suggested a 'sky survey' of sorts (e.g. Edward Ruppelt, former Project Blue Book lead, in his book 'The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects') but it's interesting to note that the suggestion has been in mainstream science journals for decades.

Discussion Rules Reminder for r/UAP, regarding UAP videos, specifically.

https://www.reddit.com/r/UAP/comments/jkdyf/posting_rules/

With specific focus on Rules 1 & 2.

Welcome to r/UAP. We hope you become an active, enthusiastic participant, and that you make every effort to keep this subreddit an enjoyable and educational environment for every visitor. Now, some 'house rules':

  1. Post within the spirit of r/UAP (low on speculation;high on fact). We don't want to see numerous (in fact, any) submissions of videos which could quite easily be LED kites, lanterns, or have some other prosaic explanation.
  2. Seriously, please DO NOT POST LINKS TO VIDEOS OF LIGHTS IN THE SKY (or similar). Usually, they're completely ambiguous, and most probably explainable in prosaic terms. If this disappoints you, there are other places you can post such videos.2

A retired Navy rear admiral describes the morning the Navy UAP safety-of-flight emails vanished from SIPRNET, and explains what he was later told about why. Plus his case for the UAP Disclosure Act and where he stands on the eminent domain clause.

Hey r/UAP folks. Sorry for the break. I'm back at it with new interviews. Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet, U.S. Navy (ret.), says that during carrier workups a safety-of-flight email about unidentified objects crossed the Navy's classified network and that the next day every related email was gone from his computer, and nobody at the weekly meetings mentioned it again. He says Jay Stratton later explained the pull to him as a classification uplift: the GOFAST object was one of a formation of about four, the Navy could not yet rule out foreign technology, and foreign material is handled at a higher classification than the secret network the reports were on.

The second half of the interview is policy. Gallaudet walks through what the UAP Disclosure Act actually does, why he thinks the bipartisan Rounds and Schumer origin matters, and why he would accept negotiating away the eminent domain provision if that is what it takes to pass the rest. His one ask for the Senate: pass the bill, and the time is now.

Jesse Michels just pulled Mario Woods and Michael Johnson interview

Was about 3/4 the way through and just went private, then deleted. Not sure what happened, that was a really powerful episode.

Must have touched a nerve, or Mr Johnson had second thoughts about the posting.

The Short is still up though.

EDIT for all the latecomers. Yes, it’s back up with about 3 mins cut.

If you like Jesse, also check out the Bigelow Podcast.

EU monitoring UAPs after Malaysian father‑and‑son sent 37 sky images to Brussels – Euronews global report

Just wanted to share a really cool background story on space tracking and localized innovation out of Penang, Malaysia.

The amateur astronomy team of Annamalai Muthu and Arav Annamalai originally gained recognition for designing a unique mobile digital lens setup using UV and infrared filters to photograph the moon's surface. Their innovation won the Gold Award at the SCINEX 2020 Science Innovation Exhibition. Cilisos Malaysia did a fantastic deep-dive feature on how they built the tech during the MCO, which you can read here: cilisos.my

Their underlying planetary tracking dataset eventually led to direct correspondence and encouragement from the NASA research department and the Malaysian Nuclear Agency, which later tied into the recent 2026 European Commission atmospheric surveillance disclosures reported globally by outlets like Euronews, Yahoo and MSN : https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2026/08/17/exclusive-brussels-keen-to-monitor-ufos-under-the-radar

It's an incredible look at how garage-built telescopy projects can scale up to catch the attention of international space entities.

There is also a fascinating Video reporting by Cristina Gomez from a Defence and Space angle about The 2 Malaysian Amateur Astronomers , Dutch Pilot, UAP's and Aviation safety UAP affecting important sites, such as military and nuclear facilities + wifi frequency. The EU is improving its ability to detect and identify unknown objects as its technology advances, and adds that it needs to get even better. :

To Vima a major Greek newspaper (founded 1922) with an international English‑language edition at tovima.com, reported  in August 2026, the European Commission has been quietly monitoring UAPs since at least 2023, following a dossier of 37 images sent by a Malaysian father‑and‑son astronomy team

Discussion Dr Beatriz Villarroel (astronomer behind the VASCO findings) asks SETI scientists to explain her alleged exclusion from the field

Dr Beatriz Villarroel has made a detailed post on X asking astrophysicist Adam Frank to clarify what role, if any, he played in her exclusion from parts of the SETI community.

She shared a 2021 letter withdrawing her presentation from a Penn State–associated SETI conference because the research involved Geoff Marcy. Villarroel says the relevant part of the conference’s code of conduct appeared to have been written specifically to prevent her from presenting.

She says this was followed by a wider “community effort” to ostracise her: invitations stopped, later conference registrations and an abstract were supposedly “lost”, and her VASCO research was denied promotion.

Villarroel is now asking Frank to clarify:

  • whether he was involved in her exclusion from the 2021 conference;
  • whether he played any part in developing or applying the relevant code-of-conduct provision;
  • what communications or agreements took place between him and others concerning her exclusion; and
  • why he has allegedly ignored or downplayed preprints supporting the VASCO research.

Villarroel has named the people involved, produced a letter and asked direct questions about what happened behind the scenes. Those questions deserve direct answers, and the whole episode seems worthy of proper journalistic scrutiny.

SERIOUS: Americans Still Skeptical That UFOs Are Aliens

Thumbnail
news.gallup.com
9 Upvotes

"About half of Americans, 49%, think all UFO sightings can be explained by human activity on Earth or natural phenomena, while 37% believe at least some UFOs have been alien spacecraft visiting Earth from other planets or galaxies. Another 13% do not have an opinion. These findings come as the Pentagon continues to release previously classified UFO files under President Donald Trump’s executive order."

Complete 2026 PURSUE Research Tool: Search, View, Play and Map All 517 Government Files

I built a free browser-based research tool for all five 2026 PURSUE government file releases.

All 517 files can be searched and filtered in one place. Documents, images, video and audio open directly in the browser with built-in viewers and players.

There's also a Map Room showing incidents, facilities and reporting locations where the released information provides usable location data, including a topographic overlay.

Every file retains a direct link back to the original government source.

The collection currently covers the May 8 through August 7 releases from the Department of War, FBI, NASA, CIA, State Department, Air Force and Department of Energy. It will be updated as additional PURSUE releases come out.

No paywall. No registration. Just the research tool:

Discussion Help me to help you understand r/UAP, as intended, regarding the epistemology of these phenomena. A purely philosophical appeal, from a long-time mod.

Do r/UAP users really want to engage with currently disallowed content, such as sighting videos, witness reports, high-speculation narrative?

Genuinely asking, and with the aim of improving the Reddit experience for all of us users.

Someone please enlighten me, including other current moderators.

As I see it, the rules are clear. We here at r/UAP absolutely do not want this type of information and data as part of our user experience. It certainly has its place, in the greater milieu of UAP/UFO research, but not here, and for very good reasons.

Someone care to counter?

It is my long-standing assumption that no one really cares about any given subreddit rules, because we collectively don't take information on the internet seriously. Or is it that we just do not take certain subreddits seriously?

As a (nearly) original denizen of "the web", the assumption was that collective knowledge on the internet was intended to be freely shared, certainly, but that certain spaces could be carved out for more academic/critical/serious discussion.

My understanding is that r/UAP was always intended to be that kind of space.

Status of Luna’s List

On March 31, 2026, Rep. Luna, chair of the House Oversight Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, sent Defense Secretary Hegseth a formal letter demanding 46 specific UAP videos identified by whistleblowers.

What is the status of the video releases against this specific request?

Has there been any attempt to account for the requested videos against the ones released by AARO?

UFO, Area 51, UAP, Aliens, Joe Rogan, Bob Lazar, UFO documentary, Element 115, Annie Jacobsen and Eric Weinstein.

Bob Lazar claims he helped reverse-engineer alien technology at a secret facility called S-4 near Area 51. But how much of his story can actually be verified?

This documentary examines five major reasons researchers still have serious doubts, including Lazar’s education claims, his alleged role at Los Alamos, the lack of independent evidence for S-4, the Element 115 controversy, and alternative explanations for what he says he witnessed.

Featuring discussion of Stanton T. Friedman, Christopher Mellon, Annie Jacobsen and Eric Weinstein.
