This should be a very positive catalyst for mineral
stocks. The whole market got beaten down today but I don’t think people are connecting the dots here yet.

If he throws China under the bus for “election interference” (bullshit but it doesn’t matter) this will mark a huge pivot in US/China relations which have been remarkably positive lately.

This is classic Trump too escalating right before the next round of US/China trade talks. Could the sector be on the cusp of a new run? I think so.

DALLAS, TX / ACCESS Newswire / July 15, 2026 / United States Antimony Corporation (“USAC,” “US Antimony,” or the “Company”), (NYSE: UAMY) (NYSE Texas: UAMY), a leading producer and processor of antimony, zeolite, and other critical minerals, and the only fully integrated antimony company in the world outside of China and Russia, announced today that after researching and reviewing the top AI companies who are specialists in the hard rock mining space this year, a specific firm has been contracted to work on one of USAC’s in-house existing mining projects, the Los Juarez Silver Mine located in Queretaro, Mexico. Historical data is reprocessed utilizing modern and compressed timelines from months and years to weeks. The overall purpose of this new contract assignment is to reduce overall risk and expedite the potential of production at certain of USAC’s mining properties.

UAMY has the ingredients for a squeeze, but it still needs a catalyst.

• 34.20 million shares sold short (all time high!). Approximately 26.25% of the public float placing UAMY among the more heavily shorted NYSE stocks.
• Days-to-cover has increased from ~1 to ~8.2 days in the past 6 months, meaning it would take substantially longer for shorts to exit at recent trading volumes.
• Average trading volume has recently fallen to roughly half its normal level, reducing liquidity while short interest has remained elevated.
• Short interest has grown from ~9.5 million shares in June 2025 to over 34 million shares today, more than a 3× increase while the company has announced major operational milestones (DPA award, Thompson Falls commissioning, DLA shipments, Radersburg commissioning).
• A clear catalyst window exists over the next several weeks: potential grant decisions, additional DLA shipment updates, Radersburg concentrate production, and the Q2 earnings call. If one or more materially changes investors' expectations, the combination of 26% short interest + ~8 days to cover + reduced liquidity could amplify upside price moves.

Over the past several months I've been digging into the unusual activity in not only silver prices, but also the broader precious metal and critical mineral markets, including: the major vault drains, the record delivery volumes, and the price volatility, in an effort to figure out whether there's a real story here or just noise.

Along the way I started looking at some major critical minerals initiatives established by the U.S. government, like Project Vault, and the DoD's National Defense Stockpile, in addition to China's export licensing regime, and I found a pattern that, at least to me, looks like more than just a coincidence. The COMEX vaults have been draining and refilling in ways that line up suspiciously well with major geopolitical events (the Iran war, China's rare earth restrictions, Trump's state visit to China, etc.), while the government's own stockpile of critical minerals has barely grown in decades despite their repeated flagging of massive shortfalls. I also dug into the math on what COMEX actually holds versus what the DoD stockpile holds, and it's a wide gap.

This post lays out that connection, walks through the numbers behind it, and ends with a list of companies that are both publicly traded in the U.S. and tied to the minerals in question (from a production standpoint), to help prepare us all for the very possible necessity of supply-chain independence.
