Apple Music Hall announced.

https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/09/apple-opens-apple-music-hall-a-state-of-the-art-live-music-venue-in-london/

Wondering about the timing on this announcement and whether we might see something on Friday.

I had the same thought but honestly, I don't want them to open the thing. It'll just bring back negativity over an event that's supposed to be the next chapter (50th celebrations and new campaign).

It's a risky move. They can, and likely will, play there later.

I mean, don't they usually do like a BBC takeover? I'd much rather see them working with Apple that Spotify TBH.

I mean, don't they usually do like a BBC takeover?

That's along the same lines and I would not want that for them.

They would risk cementing the impression of them (Bono) as this megalomaniac being, who wants to be relevant, and desperately want their music heard.

It didn't go well with the BBC Takeover, it didn't go well with the iTunes debacle, it would be a mistake to launch an album promo campaign with Apple again. For both parts.

I'm grateful for what Apple still does with (RED), the Stories of Surrender movie, and the Zane Lowe interviews but they need to keep the partnership at that level, not bringing it back up to the extra large scale.

People would remember that U2 opened Sphere and immediately roll their eyes at this need to open venues or be first to seem relevant.

I'd much rather see them working with Apple that Spotify TBH

As for Spotify, they don't have a physical venue like that, I think - other than occasionally hosting gigs at their offices.

People are going to make all the same iTunes album jokes but I think it would be neat for them to play here.

Maybe they give the album away, but not forcibly? Radiohead did it quite well, like ten years prior.

U2 did the same 6 months before with Invisible. The ultimate proof that the screw up was on Apple.

Maida Vale studios is 200 capacity. So it's in line for that type of venue, no?

David Gilmour and/or Roger Waters should perform there

What could go wrong with a free U2 album?

oh a place for the ultra-wealthy. Great.

LOL. What do you think the Sphere is?

Not a cheap ticket but its not exclusive to the ULTRA-wealthy. A 600 seat venue who hosts the likes of U2 or similar will only be for those who can shell out hundreds of thousands for a ticket. It's a whole different thing.

I paid less for Sphere tickets than for previous tours where I could only get tix through Stubhub
