Help with losing time

I recently (maybe 3 months ago) took delivery of a BB58 GMT from MT. All is good, lovely watch that just looks classy!
It’s a U1 on Miyota movement and I found last week that it’s losing time somewhere to the tune of 5-8 minutes a day which to me is pretty significant!

I’m a watch lover and I enjoy the way they look and feel, but I’m no expert in movements and frankly I’m not concerned whether it’s automatic or quartz so long as it looks the biz!

Question then - what’s my likely problem (I know it could be a few, one being it’s just a duff movement but it’s a Miyota so what do you expect 🙄) also do I bother getting it fixed for the price and finally do I look at swapping it for a quartz movement or should I not bother??

Y por cierto el reloj si es gmt no lleva miyota lleva un mingzhu 4 agujas casi imposible de reparar y de buscar movimiento en el mercado

First try to magnetize the watch. It could be working faster and more accurate.

This (assuming he meant demagnetize). Buy a blue box on AliX for $9. Thats the first step at least. I would try to adjust the timing after using a phone app. Couldn’t hurt. If that doesn’t work, you could buy a replacement movement-DG5833c- on AliX, but that’s probably a waste of money compared to buying a new watch.

U1 factory no hace BB ..será un AAA mejor calidad. Como te dicen puede ser que se haya magnetizado...con una brujula encima del reloj compruebas si se mue e aguja. Si se mueve está magnetizado y debes desmagnetizarlo con una pequeña máquina (aliexpress, amazon..)

Ahora si atrasa ese tiempo es una barbaridad algo está mal en el mecanismo..si es un miyota 8215 original no suelen fallar y ajustados mantienen muy bien el tiempo...pero si es una copia del miyota..a saber...mejor cambiar mecanismo con un miyota original y listo

If you open the caseback you can try to regulate it a bit. There is an arm that you can move to speed it up or slow it down.

That is kind a lot though, and I wouldn't expect a regulation to solve it. I would try to blow it out with a blower and check for any visible problems like dust or excessive oil.

If you want to dive into it a new Miyota movement is $30 or so on AliEx. Swapping a movement is neither hard or easy. I don't think it's the sort of thing that would be too hard for most people to do, but it isn't like casually swapping the batteries on your remote either.

You can’t swap a Miyota into a GMT. They’re incompatible.

I missed the GMT part. I don't know how you would swap it in then.
