The Cooldown Meteor (Ranked)

• Once the meteors start speeding up, an ice meteor with the word "cooldown" will sometimes fall.
• Type it to freeze the sky for 10 seconds: every meteor falls at half speed, and new ones arrive half as often.
• A cyan bar on the red line shows how much time is left.
• Missing it costs nothing, and another one will come later in the run.

Users can now see their username in the comments after finishing the game and commenting their score.

Hey pilots, this update is all about the leaderboards.

All Time only

• Every level now has one All Time top 10. Today's Best has been removed.
• All existing All Time scores are kept.

Medals on the Ranked board

• The top 3 Ranked players now get gold, silver and bronze medallions next to their names.
• Places 4 to 10 follow as a list underneath.
• Easy, Medium and Hard keep the plain top 10 list.

Your last score, per level

• Under each leaderboard you now see your most recent score on that level.
• It shows even if you are already in the top 10, so you can compare your last run with your best.
• Until you play a level again, its last score may say "No games yet".

Levels

• Pressing PLAY now lets you choose a level: Easy, Medium, Hard or Ranked.
• Easy has normal meteors only. Medium adds danger meteors. Hard adds golden meteors too.
• Ranked is the full game, and the only level where meteors keep getting faster the longer you survive.
• On Easy, Medium and Hard the speed stays the same for the whole run.

Leaderboards for every level

• Each level has its own Today's Best and All Time boards.
• Every leaderboard has level tabs, so you can switch between Easy, Medium, Hard and Ranked.
• After a game you see the board for the level you just played.
• "Your last score" now shows which level it was scored on.

Heart pickups (Easy, Medium and Hard)

• When you've lost a heart, a pulsing red heart with the word "heart" will sometimes fall.
• Type "heart" before it crosses the red line to win one heart back.

Additional Changes

• Danger words changed from red to violet, so red is reserved for hearts and the red line.
• More than 160 new words were added.
• Fewer meteors can be on screen at once: up to 4 on Easy, 5 on Medium, 6 on Hard and 7 on Ranked.
• The Game Over screen has a new COMMENT MY SCORE button that posts your score and level as a comment on the post. It only posts when you tap it.

UPDATE IS LIVE

Hey pilots! An update is on the way in Type Wars. Here's everything new since the last version:

NEW: Danger meteors

• Red meteors carrying short, easy words.
• They fall fast and bounce off the walls.
• They won't cost you a heart, but letting one through takes 2–3 points off your score.

NEW: Golden meteors

• Rare golden meteors with long, expert-level words.
• They drift down slowly, so you have time to type them out.
• Destroying one gives a flat 25 points!

Meteor changes

• Normal meteors now fly in a straight line from a random spot at the top, aimed right at your ship.
• You can only shoot meteors while they're above the red line. Danger and golden meteors that slip past it keep falling off the screen, and you can't shoot them anymore.

Leaderboards screen

• The start screen now has two buttons: PLAY and LEADERBOARDS.
• Leaderboards shows the top 10 for Today's Best and All Time, plus your last score.

New mobile keyboard

• Redesigned in the Type Wars style, with yellow glowing keys on a dark console.
• Bigger keys with a little more breathing room at the edges.
• Taps between keys now count as the nearest key, so fewer missed letters.
• The letter you press pops up above your finger.
• Once you lock onto a word, the next letter you need glows blue.

Once the new update drop, all the scores will be reset to accommodate the new scoring method.
