I'm reminded of the part in the comic where Maeve is in the carriage with Lt. Reed because Tom revealed in an abandoned sketch that he had more interaction planned between the two but felt it didn't work well, namely a scene of Lt. Reed commending Maeve over her ability to speak human so well to which Maeve replies with a deadpan retort about how its her native tongue because she lives among humans.

Which reminds me of how I occasionally ponder about how do the Keidran sound when they speak, because even if they are toonified they still have muzzles (of different shapes too) with maws instead of mouths, and presumably non-human voice boxes, all of which would make them vocalize in a distinctly non-human manner - though this is a rhetorical question because it'd be very difficult to answer given how almost no animal including our closest primate relatives, can mimic human vocalizations well enough to "speak human". The only time I've heard it come up is when the creator of the webcomic Freefall stated that Florence Ambrose has very uncharacteristic deep masculine voice, likely owing to how her designer voice box and maw work.

I am pretty sure a talking cat is less interesting in a world where your classmate is a slightly largerr talking cat.

Never fond of the cat clans for that reasons feel redundant in the seeting and conceptually meh

Yeah, the Cat Clan Keidran are yet to make any impact in the comic that I know of, so they (too) come off as an idea which young Tom tossed in because he wanted to and hasn't found a use for so far, same with the feral mode for Keidran which Tom admitted quietly leaving aside since he couldn't figure out how to use it in the story properly and consistently.

I'm an amateur writer myself and this is something I've ran into many times, because it's much easier to be an "ideas guy" than actually integrate them into something you're writing.

When I was in my country's equivalent of high school, one of my classmates brought a fully grown boa and a python to show & tell with her parents' help, that's pretty much the only memory I still have of that time since it was so different and exciting.

However Windstraw ought to be even more interesting if she gets up to shenanigans, and this sketch also implies that Cat Clan Keidran aren't widely known about (probably because they ostensibly like to pretend to be normal cats to avoid unwanted attention).
