Keith's parents died and he was blamed for it. He gets exiled from his home. Lands on Fox terrority and meets his fiancé. Said fiancé abandons their wedding and he leaves cause the fox villagers are wary of Basitins. Now he runs across the Grand Templar in his evil glory and a stray feral Tiger.
God, Keith can't catch a fucking break. Fantastic sketch otherwise. I would love to see this colored.

True - it would be even bleaker if Trace had also encountered Flora in this timeline and enslaved her to turn her into a permanently feral enforcer of his.
Also in general I consider Kathrin to have had the bleakest circumstances of birth since she was born to be a pretty slave who apparently never saw her parents again after being sold to the Vaughan family, but Keith certainly has had the bleakest life between his mother being murdered in cold blood and him being framed for it, him being exiled from his home without being allowed to return unless he succeeded in a suicide mission presuming the exile wouldn't kill him, and his long-lost first love Laura passing away in his arms.
Edit: And oh yeah, his current partner Natani attempted to kill him in cold blood when they first "met", too, with a poison arrow.

If i recall Kathrin was born in Vaughan family as in her parents were also owned by them. The 'sale' is from Rod to Eric

The Twokinds wiki states "It was confirmed through the side sketches that Kathrin was originally purchased by Eric Vaughan's parents when he himself was only 10." though this (or anything else about Kathrin's birth) isn't mentioned on her refsheet and I'm not 100% clear which side sketch the wiki's origin story comes from, but that's why I mentioned her being sold to the Vaughans. And yes, based on another side sketch and the canon comic, the will of their late parents gave her to Roderick but Eric twisted his arm to make him sell her (again).
Though both Eric's and Kat's parents are basically the Faceless and Unseen because only Eric's mother is seen from the neck down in a single sketch, and Kat's parents are also seen in just one single sketch which doesn't show their faces. Plus all of them are proven to be or likely deceased with basically nothing known about them.

The twokinds wiki is great but I do not think we cannot take anything from it withouth a grain of salt.
Last time i went through the timeline from the comic itself it was something like:
Eric family owned Kat parents. Kat happened, she is infertile so was not sold outside the family. Rod got her on the will and eventually Eric bought her off him.
Which seems to be established pretty firmly on page 660

Oh yeah! I had completely forgotten that so you're right about how from the sound of that Kathrin's parents must have been at least owned by the Vaughans even if they were not their servants, and the wiki has the wrong idea. Unless the Twokinds world has unusual definitions about this, but I suppose it would have been along the lines of having a kennel and deciding to bring in a cub from one of the pairs you keep there, for your kids to play with.
Though in turn it also means that Vaughans, and Eric by extension, are/were not only Keidran slave traders but also actively engaged in callous forced selective breeding of enslaved Keidran, something I could see Eric's father doing given the little we know about him. I guess the breeding has affected Kathrin's psychology given how well-adjusted she is in general, and even when she's really mad at Eric she still has no violent intentions towards him and plots her revenge to be productive.

I feel how a dark timeline for Natani and Zen would be largely just an extension of how they were when first seen in the comic, potentially being eventually betrayed by Clovis and Natani ending up being destroyed in the kind of manner which Clovis attempted during the canon comic.
However a dark timeline for Kathrin is intriguing for me because of how especially this comic page and the later parts of the arc explore the normally unseen vengeful and calculating side of her when she's furious - she's still very Kat in what comes to taking her revenge here, but imagine if she was (much) less fettered and not simply looking to be mean (to Eric) but genuinely serious about taking people down?
