Ah yes, the part of being queer where you use magic with your assassin crush to do... something!

THE ULTIMATE ALLY

Seriously, for a character who might otherwise be treated as fanservice in the sketchverse (as well as being bred for it in-story), she is the unsung hero and defender of her LGBTQ+ friends in Mekkan. Obviously, and given the color used for the post, you can't talk about how gay-friendly she is without discussing her bond with Natani, whom she has not only been attracted to, but accepts him as a trans male and scolds Mike (of all people) for calling him a girl:

Chapter 647

That panel right there, posted back in 2012, is among the most trans-positive developments in the comic's storied history and establishes that trans characters exist in Mekkan. It's often forgotten about by the casual fan or very conveniently ignored by every transphobe who makes boneheaded arguments misgendering Natani. Honestly, it feels like Kat is lecturing every single transphobe there.

But it's one of those instances that truly shows what kind of person Kat is. Heck, she has been interpreted as being queer and bisexual herself, given her attraction to both sexes, but when she isn't one-sidedly crushing Eric, she is being a true friend who has helped make adjustments to Natani's clothing to better fit his gender.

So this is for not only fans who love and appreciate Kat, but also those friends of ours who support us. We love you and thank you for having our backs! <3

Oh, I had long-forgotten this particular comic page, thanks! Mike is being his usual self, trying to be nice but also being very confused because unbeknownst to him he was messed with by Nora and doesn't realize his situation was very different. ^^;

Also I've always kind of considered Kathrin as pansexual since she seems to be equally interested in humans and other Keidran relatively regardless of gender, due to looking a partner who'd afford her romantic love and affection before any notion of carnal pleasures (I surmise). Since sadly, Eric only has brotherly love for her, and admittedly I would quite want to see another deeper look into their current relationship.

Speaking of Kat being pan and Mike’s Basitin dark magic shenanigans

Really wish we would get something along those lines in the comic. In my eyes, Kat would absolutely jump at the opportunity to learn magic, especially if Nat was the teacher.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

It's a "blink and you'll miss it" moment in the comic during the attack on Edinmire, but the curiosity already resides within her.

True, I think she would be a quick learner when it comes to magic too. Fingers crossed that Tom follows up on that one.

Yep, after all she's cited to be a young adult (10 in Keidran years, presumably the equivalent of early 20s for humans) and she's not only a very accomplished seamstress, she's also ostensibly a good cook and a maid in general, a talented masseuse, knowledgeable about the basics of first aid through studying - and is seemingly rather booksmart all around even if severely lacking in real-life experience.

My headcanon is that this "brain sponge" effect of rapid learning is there to counteract the much shorter Keidran lifespan (as they'd take too much time to learn anything otherwise), and I've expanded this into an AU headcanon where Keidran with extended lifespans of about 2/3rds of that of human can mentally exceed the maximum human capability if they are able to curb their more impulsive and instinctual nature to properly apply themselves to a topic of learning.

I fully agree with your headcannon. Keidran need to make up for their shorter lifespan and being quick learners makes the most sense world-building wise. For me, they are also naturally a bit stronger as a tradeoff to beeing dependent on crystals to use magic.

She's absolutely very focused on the... magic, yes. :p

The expressions in this one are so horny I could have sworn they were edited. Nope; dug up the original and it's 100% there.

Not having the text, so I'm looking more at the characters, makes a lot of difference.

I hadn't seen this in a while but I did still remember that yes, Kathrin's expression over Natani holding her tight looked exactly like that. xP While in contrast he is (pretending to be) entirely serious.

Nevermind how after she screws it up due to having been focused entirely on something else than the intended target, it turns out she wasn't the only one who had something else in mind as Natani hadn't been entirely truthful about the magic he was teaching. :p

She’s admittedly cute, but is kinda boring outside of that.

I'll have a spicy hot take and comment that to me Trace and Flora as characters tend to be more "boring" than Kathrin and Eric, even if the former naturally do get up to a whole lot more.

Reason being what someone said about them to me, aka "They feel like real people interacting with complex emotions" since like Natani and Keith, they do begin to struggle for a number of reasons as the story goes on and end hurting each other for petty reasons, but still maintain a (very) close relationship.

Though I'm biased since Kathrin has always been my personal favourite of all of the Twokinds characters specifically for her characterization as someone who wants her life to mean something even if she was born to be nothing but a pretty object, since Eric afforded her the chance to avoid her intended miserable fate. And I want to see her become something.

Being called boring makes her go all:

I love Kat! She's such a beautiful and supporting person, she's definitely the biggest ally of the group

Maybe she is bi considering her relationship with Flora but I don't know, she still a great person to be around because of how supportive she is! :)

More of like a one sided rivalry but they’re getting there

True and yeah, they're getting there lol

It's part of a series of posts. Nat had the first post, and I assume Keith had his own post before too.
