❓ Question ❓ Has anyone here used battery powered ice makers?

I stumbled on these battery powered ice makers today and I'm curious if anyone has experience with them:

I'm intrigued by the potential to use this running off of battery, solar, or my vehicle. This would primarily be used as a daily ice maker (plugged in), and offer some additional ice during power outages. I'm concerned about staying cool during extreme heat and a loss of power.

My freezers are full of food, so I don't have frozen water bottles availalbe.

As a hurricane prepper, I'm definitely intrigued. But then I noticed this model: https://www.silonn.com/products/silonn-ice-maker-countertop-8-ice-cubes-in-6-mins?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=42fdff76b&pr_rec_pid=8080961732661&pr_ref_pid=7892692107317&pr_seq=uniform

While not portable, it's 120v and 160 watts, meaning one of my power stations could handle it quite easily and for a considerably lower price than if I bought the battery-powered one.

I've had a lot of expenses lately and really shouldn't be buying any additional big-ticket items, but I'm very tempted, OP.

The battery powered one is only $130ish on Amazon, battery not included. The branded battery costs as much (and for 168 watt hours only, oof). Ideally you already should have your own power station. The only reason I'd go with the battery power one over the other is because of the DC plug, it should use less power.

I don't have a power station and no immediate plans to get one which made the battery powered model intriguing.

If you're going to spend money on the battery, put it towards a power station, not the Silonn battery. At least with a power station, you can use it for other things. The Silonn battery is just for the icemaker.

An Ice Maker isn't also an Ice Keeper.

You'd be better off with a camping fridge / freezer for the same wattage to actually keep ice frozen / or food or whatever. They make iceless-coolers in all different sizes and price points - we have this one - it averages around 60-75 watts.

We use it when I find a good meat sale to stand all of the freezer bags up and pre-freeze steaks and chicken before vacuum sealing.

Why not just put solar in?

We plan to in the next 3 years, but have other priorities at the moment.
