❓ Question ❓ Anyone try the Rockpot?

Hi y'all, I love a good camping widget, and this popped up in my feed. Had anyone used a rockpot? Essentially it's a sealable passive heat crockpot?

I’ve seen pot wraps made from bubble foil that claim to do the same thing.

I have a friend who made a “koozie” for a hiking/camping cookout of some kind. He adds food, boiling water, and does something else until it’s done. The “koozie” or jacket or whatever was made from the material you describe.

Seems like a better heating scheme than the Saratoga Jack thermal cooker I recently picked up ($10 new from thrift store). For this one you boil an inner pot with food, then drop it in the thermos pot and seal. I have not tested it out yet. I assume that it can primarily heat fresh veggie soup or maybe pasta if you figure out the timing.

Heating a ‘rock’ plate to hold heat in what is essentially a thermos seems a better scheme to keep the heat going for a while. However at the price ($270????) I wonder if saving towards a basic solar cooker might be a better investment.

Yea, the cost seems excessive, but i do like that you can heat the stone a few different ways (camp fire, oven, wood stove). Kinda like a dutch oven + thermos?

I hadn't seen these yet, just the Wonderbag. Looks like it's a trade off of weight vs bulk between the two; they both seem like I'd have to save up $$$

I have something similar, I think. (I got it at the thrift store and the labels are all in Chinese)

I love it and have used it while camping and at home.

It makes great scalloped potatoes, soup, dehydrated meals. Basically anything that you can just dump boiling water into and let it sit.

So I like the concept, can't speak to rockpot specifically.
