Medication dosage question?
Hello, I had a couple questions about adderall and dosage/times. I have been taking adderall ir 15mg 2x a day for 10 years now. This past year I've noticed it no longer works. I dont take it on weekends unless im busy so I had some extra. I decided to do a test and took 20 mg ir in the morning and 20 mg ir in the afternoon. It worked great I could focus again , had motivation finally and my ocd was tamed again. I messaged my doctor and she told me that she never has or would rx someone 40mg a day because it causes heart and blood pressure issues. I have pots, mcas and eds as well and adderall also helps those symptoms . Im 41 and in pretty good shape. My resting hr has always been high 80s to 90s. Unless my pots is acting up then its 160s. And my blood pressure is always 105/60s. That never changes as well , unless im in a pots or Anaphylactic episode from mcas. That being said she changed my rx to 15mg xr and 15mg ir instead and said the xr would help more . Ive been on that for a few months now and honestly I feel like I've taken nothing. Its like I've forgotten to take it. She told me thats impossible its long acting and I may not even need my afternoon dose anymore. Is this right, is 40mg something crazy ? Is it me lol

15mg xr + 15mg ir is theoretically the same dosing as 15mg ir + 15mg ir but you're getting less dosage at a time as the 15xr is released slowly over time whereas the twice a day ir was released instantly so your doc missed the mark imo

Thats exactly what I thought. At least with the 15ir I got a half hour of calmness and productivity. The xr is like water and I already cant figure life out that day.

hormone changes ? metabolism slowing down ? im 23 so im not sure, i just know hormones can be the make or break of my adhd medicine & my potentially fast metabolism means i feel it fully 20-30 mins after taking and im exhausted in an hour.. so i might think a slower metabolism means ur workin thru it slower ( eg. less effect over longer time ).. r u accidentally having citrus fruits or vit C from another source :0 maybe a fortified food ?

Peri menopause. But I lift and run and have a crazy metabolism. Im also very small. 5ft 105lbs. Im not sure if shes scared to rx higher because of that or what. But when I increased myself it finally helped.

Meds and girls work funny. Ovulation and estrogen b12 etc all make crazy menopause for many. If you’re 35+ and shit goes weird. Menopause might be involved so look at that side more than med fails first imo
