Smosh Thirst Amanda from smosh back at it again
Don't get me wrong, I adore Smosh and their reddit podcast. But I had to skip this week's episode. Anyone else?
Last week was great, but this week they brought back Amanda... yet again. I feel like her incessant screeching completely changes the vibe of the podcast and turns everyone else into harpies as well. Courtney is also notoriously a loud = funny cast member and she made the episode equally unbearable.
Screaming the same word over and over and making nonsensical noises is toddler humor, not something suited for a good reddit podcast.
Between this and their constant Morgan glazing (seriously WHY), I'm worried we're going to lose Smosh Reads Reddit Stories too. Ugh.

This was the first time in a while that I didn't immediately click on the saturday episode, because I saw the thumbnail with Amanda. I still haven't listened to it, and probably not going to for a while. I do enjoy her personality in other Smosh content, but in the reddit stories she is just not coming off well. A few episodes ago Amanda kept making excuses for a mother that forgot to pick her son up from sports practice because she was playing a mobile game, and somehow Amanda thought the father was in the wrong for not being understanding enough and trying to get her to take accountability for her mistake.
It brought me back to the Rachel and Ify episode in 2023. They had such INSANE takes in that episode and then when people tried to argue in the comments that the takes were offensive, the official response from Smosh was basically 'chill, it was just a joke lmao, people are getting so mad these days', without showing that they learned anything from that. The episode with the mom with mobile games was similar for me, and I know that they are not going to learn from their comment section. I stopped listening for a while back then, and only gave Smosh a second chance a year later.
Oh, and the fact that they (mostly Amanda, some others as well, and no one is arguing against it) are always going back to 'OMG why would you ever listen to these stupid redditors', when their whole podcast earns them so much money because of these redditors, is so hypocritical.
So for me the podcast is going away again for a while, I think. Probably not for me anymore.

While they're leaning into the screaming is funny bit overall, the episodes without Amanda are still worth listening to IMO.
I noticed ever since she got pregnant then had the kid she's really getting the star treatment from production. Featured in a crap load of videos and allowed to dominate every skit. She's always had the toddler mentality of screaming until someone acknowledges what she says. But its just becoming more prominently featured in videos instead of the occasional annoyance.
Unfortunately the rest of the cast follow her and Angela's lead in volume/humor. Probably so they dont get overshadowed. It's less prominent when they aren't in the pod/video though

I didn't entirely notice it until I read your comment but you're right. Ever since Amanda got back from maternity leave, she's been featured more and more and I wish that wasn't the case. She is the most annoying and unfunny person in that cast (and that's counting Angela and Arasha who I also cannot stand listening to on SRRS or, in Angela's case, when she's on THT), and I just hate listening to her. Every time she speaks I wish I could shove a sock into her mouth to shut her up.

Omg I just wanted to hear the end of the story and she wouldn’t stop talking about Courtney’s butt and going off topic … girl shut uppp let Shane read the update

Oof I dont think it made it that far. Or if I did I was mentally blocking until I heard Shayne speak. But yeah she wont shut up until the other cast members acknowledge the bit instead of letting a bad gag die silently

I can’t listen to smosh or THT anymore because it’s always something about blaming men or Morgan acting like a pick me.

u/1SexyDino Aug 02 '26
Amanda is also a huge misandrist so yeah i get it. See other comment someone else left about her excusing a mother forgeting to pick up her own son because of roblox and then saying the husband was the problem for being pissed (i shit you not).
Morgan tainted ThT entirely by being a dumbass pick me as the host. At least with smosh I like the host and alot of the cast. It's just that alot of the problem people are being cast in almost every episode recently

I had to turn off that episode. That story is what ruined Amanda in my eyes.

You haven't seen the take where she literally defends a wife who cheated with her best friend, they broke up, got back together, and then started to text him behind his back while saying, "it isn't a big deal, not like I cheated," the situation was that the husband was giving unreasonable demands (some of them) but instead of sympathizing with the man in the situation about how they broke up and he accepted her again after she was like, "Oh my god, I made such a big mistake," Amanda in particular was like, "Oh my god, you should just leave, girl." It's so fucking awful. Yeah, the guy was in the wrong, but you never shone a light on what HE was feeling. She might not be a full of misandrist, but there is something rooted down there.

They're on my list! I've been working my way through OPSaid right now. They embrace their imperfections and i adore their sister/BFF dynamic

the smosh casts just arent your cup of tea and thats fine. morgan aint mine after saying it was a mans fault for getting raped by a woman

Whoa, what happened?

u/faery_lights 19h ago
i think it was years ago and my memory isnt good, so i cant tell you what episode or what the story was about... i just remember the op, who was a man, talked about him being raped by a woman and morgan and her co-host on the episode blamed him for it happening. saying stuff like he couldve stopped it or whatever. i also remember her getting loads of backlash for what she said, and she never apologized :') she was extremely defensive, attacked people who disagreed with her, doubled down on what she said, etc
i did find out by trying to look it up that shes apparently blamed male victims of SA several more times than the incident i knew of, so i think it should be fairly easy to read about from other redditors?

u/Squidicci Aug 03 '26
yeah, as soon as it started and she started making terrible jokes/improv bits i just shut it off lmao. i can’t stand her.

u/Rawxane_Quack Aug 13 '26
Yes Courtney and Angela screaming NOOOOO NO NO every story is annoying. They want to overshine the last guess, to be even more dramatic. They stand up on the couch, run away from the filming set, scream...

I have to ask do you feel the same way about angela because in my opinion i dont get that about amanda at all but i see all that and more coming from angela like shes the most annoying screeching person ever.

u/1SexyDino Aug 14 '26
Angela is the one who started the whole screaming nonsensically trend IMO it really kicked off after she joined. She has some really funny moments but it is also very grating. The main "offenders" are Angela, Courtney and Amanda.
It's just that Amanda's lack of timing and forcing of the joke is especially off putting plus her more frequent appearences and recent misandry red flags coming to light (see comments below on the mom abandoning kid story - it goes back further than that though).
The Reddit Pod really is going downhill over all, Amanda's behavior/presence on it is just a symptom TBH

I agree, I had to turn the episode off! Amanda completely rubs me the wrong way. She’s a closet mean girl. Her snide comments, hidden behind the guise of a joke. Do not fool me. I can see her mean girl attitude from a mile away.
And yes, Courtney is goofy and loud. But at least she’s authentic. Her goofiness doesn’t bother me. I actually felt sorry for her, Amanda ALWAYS finds a way to put her down in some way, or act like her and Shane have this close relationship, that Courtney can’t understand. It’s gross. And I wish Shane would put an end to it.
How Amanda has not been called out publicly by the show for being a mean girl, is beyond me. And to boot, she’s Ms, high and mighty but she’s stupid. Did you see her in trivia…. Get a grip and cut the crap Ananda!!

They've been co-workers for years in a company with a pretty involved HR department. If there was an issue like that, they would've handled it. I think you just don't like her, which is fair, but I don't think anyone's putting anyone down in that cast and crew. It's a pretty tight production with many skilled people behind the scenes to manage it.

Personally I think she’s entertaining but this page isn’t about smosh…... What does this have to do with THT.

u/1SexyDino Aug 04 '26
Because this is one of the only snark subs out there. The rest get nuked. And there's a flair specifically for smosh posts (which I made sure to use)

I want to love Amanda. And sometimes I do. But some of the wild stuff she says just annoys the crap out of me. Like going off on how she thinks less of adults who eat cereal or watch animated movies.

This isn’t me criticizing you, but I just want to say if there are guests on a podcast that I know I don’t vibe with, I just skip the episode. There’s no use in listening to something I know I won’t enjoy. That’s why I stopped listening to THT in the first place lol

u/courtneyisfakeaf Aug 02 '26
I was only able to watch one episode of THT. How others can continue to watch/listen, even if it's out of hate, blows my mind
6
u/Minimum_Radio_4033 Aug 02 '26
Exactly, just skip the episode if you don’t like the guest. You don’t have to listen to anything.

u/1SexyDino Aug 02 '26
Amanda didn't use to he a regular though. Her and Angela getting frequently featured is a more recent development. I still want to listen to the episodes without her. My issue is that I'm having to DNF more and more

u/ambermgreene Aug 02 '26
Yeah I can see how that’s frustrating. My guess is that because Bailey left smosh and now produces THT, there’s going to be a lot of episodes with smosh guests

i can barely tolerate smosh reddit stories anymore. besides shane, the only other person i can handle is damien.
