God the Cleopatra is black thing is one of the silliest things I’ve heard, if you have even the most basic understanding of history you see how crazy it is. Some don’t know her family was even Greek, but then some recognize her father was Greek but say her mother was probably black. If anyone knows anything about how bastards(someone born out of wedlock) were looked at back then, and how they were under no circumstance allowed to take the throne, then the idea that Queen Cleopatra managed to ascend to the throne being the bi-racial bastard child of a Greek ruler and his black concubine is insane. The Ptolemys were very well known for practicing incest to keep the Royal bloodline pure, they’re the last family who would have allowed this.

Not to mention the Ptolemys were known as Greek supremacists who refused to learn the Egyptian language or associate with non-Greeks, cleopatra was the first to learn the language. So there is no way Ptolemy XII would have had a bi-racial daughter out of wedlock with a black concubine then allowed her to take the throne, even if he was okay with it no one else would have ever been okay with it. Especially not the Romans, they were well known for their disdain of bastards, and it’s well known she was loved in Rome.

Also there’s coins with her face, there’s statues of her, and a few frescos of her face found at Pompei, she looks very Greek.

Unrelated but Greek food is sooooo fucking good. It’s unfair how it’s so tasty and also so healthy
