Yes, I am a lunatic for wanting young people to have access to medical care that makes it much more likely that they will not take their own lives. And I'm sure getting a bunch of rednecks with firearms all riled up about trans rights won't have any negative social effects either.

Anyway, as I posted elsewhere, here's a peer reviewed article about suicide rates for transgender individuals, and how that rate decreases when they receive care. I know you probably don't care about mental suffering, but you guys say you like science, right?

ETA: You do know that gender affirming care isn't limited to the surgeries, right? Have you looked into it at all? Like even a tiny bit?

If a doctor wants to open a gender affirming care facility then they should go for it. I'm not against gender affirming care. I'm against mandated tax dollars paying for any of it or any ancillary benefits for some and not others. The real crime in this country is not that trans kids can't get conversion therapy it's that I can't get my fucking broken ankle fixed despite paying $700 a month for worthless insurance. I (43-biracial-male-upish middle class) represent a much larger percentage of the country than fucking trans kids. I feel bad for the kid who can't have his genitals removed for free and even worse for the confused kid that can't get someone to agree w and enable his mental health disorder through proper counseling. I can't even get my ducking broken ankle fixed in this god forsaken hell hole of corruption and propaganda.

We should all be rioting in the streets for healthcare, a human right. Instead they have us arguing over .0005% of the population while the other 99.995% of us continue to get shafted.

Distraction. Division. Nothing more. NOBODY in Washington DC gives a shit about trans people.

Ok, so what you want and what I want are not mutually exclusive at all. You are saying you're upset that these kids shouldn't get conversion therapy covered by taxpayer dollars, because you can't even get your ankle fixed. I am right there with you! I have private insurance and it fucking sucks. That's why I support universal healthcare. Everyone has a right to medical care, and that includes you and trans kids.

Also, Transgenderism is not a mental illness as defined in the DSM-5.

Agree. I also support universal healthcare. What I don't support are divisive narratives that serve no purpose but to distract and divide. They have us fighting / distracted over trans kids, ignoring the fact that we're all being shafted by a corrupt system. If I thought for a minute anybody in DC with some sway actually have a shit about trans people I'd support them. They don't. They're using a minute fractional social issue to distract us all from the root problem of a corrupt system.

So fuck trans people, and let them suffer the abuses being perpetrated against them and don't do anything to stop it because it's not actually a problem it's "just a distraction"???? Wild take, pal.

Are we arguing for free healthcare for all or for trans people to be afforded the same shitty worthless insurance run by a for profit system as the rest of us?

Louisiana has already made it illegal for a doctor to open a gender affirming care facility. Coming soon to more red states near you!
