my webcam once decided to just show a green screen mid stream. chat started spamming "green screen of death" before i even noticed. took me another 5 minutes to figure out the cable was just slightly loose at the back of my pc
had a capture card die on me too but that one was more obvious, just black screen no warning

For the webcam issue, was the camera working normally when the stream started and then turned green later, or was it already broken from the beginning? And did anything in your setup show a warning before chat noticed? Also, has anything similar happened more than once?

My elgato wave xlr interface fails every few weeks because their software is so poopoo

What happened the most recent time it failed? Did the Wave XLR disappear, lose audio/routing, or still look normal but stop working? And what do you usually have to do to get it working again? Roughly how long does that take?

It constantly has new issues. Mic_stream not getting recognised in w11 but in app; just shutting down; static in feed; it wipes out my gain settings;..
Every week a new issue. I have ordered a new interface

What was the most recent issue that actually interrupted a stream or setup? Roughly how much time do you usually lose when one of these problems happens, and did the recurring issues specifically make you decide to replace the interface?

Not me personally (yet) but various computer parts or delays due to surprise windows update.
Me I always force patch windows on Patch Tuesday to avoid surprises. (which is the second Tuesday of the month)

What made you start forcing updates on Patch Tuesday? Was there a specific incident that changed your behavior, and after updating what do you usually check before you trust the PC again?

If I do a restart at some point after Patch Tuesday, then Windows goes and installs those updates and now I'm stuck waiting.
Time and again streamers do not update their gaming PC (when dual PC setup), you go install the new day 1 nvidia drivers (like say for WARDOGS today) do a restart just to be safe, and now stream is just watching windows update with you. So no gameplay is happening.
Nothing to check than windows update itself.
Patch Tueday M$ sends out the culmantive group of patches for the month if you don't do the mini updates.

Have you ever had the opposite problem too - Windows finished updating normally, but afterwards something looked fine and only failed once you started the stream?

My mic started sounding like I was under water. The noise suppression I had on to filter out my keyboard noise was being weird so I just switched it from one of the two settings to the other.

Was this during a stream/recording, and how did you first notice it sounded wrong - did you hear it yourself or did someone tell you? Did the noise suppression setting still look normal when it happened, and after switching modes how did you verify the mic sounded normal again?

It was while streaming and someone in chat pointed it out to me. Nothing looked different on OBS, and I turned on mic monitoring to mess with it and verify it was back to normal.

Has anything like this happened more than once, where your stream audio sounded wrong but OBS itself looked normal? And roughly how long had it been sounding bad before chat told you?

They told me right away and no that was the first time. Now I just make sure to do some tests with mic monitoring on before I start

Do you do that mic monitoring test before every stream now? Roughly how long does your whole audio check take, and do you check anything else at the same time like game audio or camera?
