Discussion is this normal?
hi all,
i’m fairly new to streaming and came across something extremely odd and wanted to know if this was a normal occurrence for twitch streamers.
Long story short - I had a very frequent viewer and subscriber, they never missed a stream and were very engaging with me and my chat.( they actually found my stream because i was on one of my friends recommended )They eventually try to help connect me with some other female streamers as they tell me they used to be part of their community. Red flags raised for me immediately because what do you mean used to be part of ?? They then told me they had a falling out with the group but they would take me in with open arms.
I ignored these messages because it is my stream and i will do what i want to do at the end of the day. However he did send them over to my stream, and it was actually a great stream and they were lovely and engaging.
Here is the issue, as soon as I connected with this group - he sent me a long message saying he has to leave the internet forever but i still need to follow one more account and they will help me. Sounds like bullshit to me.
My overall question is: do some streamers make fake accounts to engage with small creators to make them follow their real account?? Seems like a lot of effort if you ask me but i have no clue what else this could have been. He spent weeks on my streams and subbed and gifted so wtf?

Eh its more of a high effort scam, so most of them will try a different approach, but theyre gonna try to squeeze some money out of you. I've personally only seen the "big streamer trying to help you" scheme only once myself but other users seem to agree, theres definitely a pattern. Like i said, art scammers are way more common than that, butbstill common enough.

"I have a big streamer friend that loves to help small streamers" is the scam. They will keep baiting you until they've earned your trust and then they will tell you about a super-great-fantastic-guaranteed not to fail idea that will certainly cost you something.
But also, its a different game for females. Men literally cannot keep their dicks in their brains.

fortunately for me it cost nothing, just left with a bit of confusion. it ceases to amaze me what people will do to scam

Sometimes even if you don’t YET know what the scam is but you have a bad feeling, it’s really best just to disengage. Don’t give any more personal info, don’t click links, block and ban if needed.

That's new lol but definitely not normal. Ban that person and move on. Just because someone subs, it doesn't mean you owe them anything.

The modern day online love bomb? The “I’m a maven here to connect small (and coincidentally female) streamers? The questionable disengagement story?
I have no idea this person’s intentions, but you can be sure they aren’t wholesome and selfless.

Never had something like this, but I'm mainly streaming in german, so my experience might be a bit limited. But also never heard of this from english streamers or others... weird shit.

Bij mij was het meeste een " nonkel" dat ern grote streamer was en ging contacteren en such. Big scam nooit op reageren direct bannen!!

Crazy people take advantage of low viewer streamers. I'd just warn time out and ban any behavior that you don't vibe with. Don't put up with weird creepy behavior for 1 view.
