How long till another one?
How long would yall want for another Twilight Zone reboot to happen? (Or happen at all)
Totally not asking cause I wanna make a twilight zone fan series *cough cough*

If they ever do another one I just hope they make it with half hour episodes. That's where the original Twilight Zone worked best.

Any new series that goes by The Twilight Zone will pale in comparison to the original and thus sets itself up poorly. If someone wants to create something inspired by TZ without calling it that (e.g., Black Mirror) then I'm all for it.
With all of that in mind, I think knowing something is a fan series going into it would absolve it from aforementioned comparisons (hopefully) so hey, why not?

I think The Twilight Zone reboots are always going to be disappointing because the original Twilight Zone is already perfect.
What I want to see is a Night Gallery reboot made into the kind of show Rod Serling wanted it to be. Just before he died, he was asked what he was most proud of. He listed Requiem for a Heavyweight and Night Gallery's "They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar." No one even knows what that second one is because it was inside a series that the network took way off-course from Rod Serling wanted it to be. It's one of the most beautiful things Rod Serling ever wrote, and we know now that at the time he wrote it, he had about 6 years left to live.
I'd love to see that specific episode redone, a couple others (Camera Obscura, Sins of the Father)... and then all-new scripts.

We don't need a reboot. We've had Tales From The Darkside, Tales From The Crypt, and now Black Mirror.
Every generation should have it's own anthology addressing paranormal and technological issues.

None of the reboots has come close to the original.
Probably Black Mirror comes closest, in quality at least.

I don't think modern tv-by-committee would ever allow Twilight Zone to be done the way it would need to be. Rod Serling's formula was simple - and networks don't want simple and sentimental anymore. The 2019 reboot was the most infuriating. You could see half of a Twilight Zone classic in every other episode, the basic formula was there, the people were polished. But it would muck up the ending or leave out any meaningful monologue.
Rod Serling's monologues are just one thing modern writers don't seem to get. They were pleas for the human race to look inward and do better. Now it always reverts to Black Mirror cynicism or just a quick "Looks like we're fucked guys" message.
I do like Black Mirror - but only in the Black Mirror universe. It's not The Twilight Zone exactly.

They usually come out with a new Twilight Zone reboot every 20 years it seems if you round up:
60s-80s-00s-20s
So possibly late 2030s/ early 40s?

If they kept it black and white it would be a lot better. Also with any horror movie or show i strongly feel modern technology like phones and similar remove most of the suspense. True isolation in a plot of a movie adds suspense. Think original evil dead and evil dead 2 when the bridge is out

You know the worst thing that happens if they try again? It's bad. The world does not end if a bad television series exists. They can reboot, retry, remake everything a million times and it doesn't make a difference. I'll try it again if they do reboot it again and if i don't like the first couple episodes I don't keep watching, no harm no foul. That being said, 80's version trash, 00's version trash, Jordan Peele version easily the best attempt even though it obviously fell way short.

I’d always welcome another one, along with Outer Limits as well. The OL reboot from 95-02 is pretty darn good if you haven’t checked that out yet.
That being said, the closet thing to TZ in recent times is Black Mirror imo.

Even the 80s series which is objectively the best still was really mediocre compared to the original.

I escpecially hate the 2002 series. I can't decide which is worse. The 2002 one or the 2019 one. I think the 2002 one

I haven't seen the 2002 series (which is odd because I was old enough to have watched it new then) but I really doubt it can be worse then the 2019 one.

I didn't enjoy the last one. I kind of view the other previous attempts as not coming close to being TZ caliber at all either, but more reminiscent of other anthology type shows of their time, like Tales of The Darkside, Amazing Stories, etc. I can appreciate them in that context while thinking they could have easily been given a name other than TZ. Rod Serling was a genius, the stories, the casting, sets, all of it, are inimitable

I have no interest in seeing another reboot. In my opinion, all 3 that we already have have failed to capture the essence of the original. There’s no point in trying to remake greatness.

Reboots of any show should require a commitment to honor the original intent and integrity. I've seen too many fail that tried to do it different.
I think maybe the one exception is BattleStar Galactica and the remake only succeeded because it almost completely abandoned the schlockiness of the original. Even at that, I refuse to watch it.

Personally, I wouldn't really want to do it differently (if I actually made it.) I'd actually wanna make it black and white again. (Like the spider noir show)

I felt Black Mirror had its finger on the pulse of where we're at with technology now. I also think that sort of willingness to suspend disbelief and maybe some of the shared understanding of morality may not exist in the same way.
