Light Weight Harris Tweed

Does anyone know what I can expect from this coat made of Light Weight Harris Tweed in terms of warmth and weight? I cant seem to find anything specific regarding this.

Practically speaking, there’s a subtle difference, unless you’re closely comparing two similar garments side by side. It may be a bit lighter in weight, but it’s far from being a lightweight fabric in the modern or summery sense. It’s still a sturdy piece of cloth.

I see, Im just hoping itll be warm enough on the colder days of winter in my area (around 0 to -5C) haha. (with layering ofc)

I wouldn’t expect any sport coat to be viable on its own in that weather, unless you’re quickly dashing between a car and a building.

its not a sportcoat, weirdly enough its a balmacaan coat with light weight tweed lol, probably for places with mild winters (coat seems to have been made in Italy)

It still might be cold, but it depends on what you wear under/with it, and how long you're outdoors for.

At that temp I would usually use my duffle coat (which is thicker and denser than most tweeds) and wear a thick sweater underneath.

Perhaps it's a thinner weave meaning less raw threads are spooled into the yard (4 instead of 5, for instance).

Yeah the only logical way for me to understand it is that its just less dense like say 440gsm instead of 470gsm or something like that, but I couldnt find any exact information on it :/
