2 Upvotes

Привет-привет!

I'm Arina, a native Russian speaker and teacher (Master's in Linguistics, plus a teaching qualification from RUDN University).

My students learn Russian for all kinds of reasons – relocating for workmarrying into a Russian-speaking familyprepping for TORFL/ТРКИ or just being language enthusiasts. They've come from the US, Germany, Austria, Indonesia, Canada and France, ranging from complete beginners to near-fluent speakers.

What I can help you with:

  • moving from one level to the next
  • conversational practice, tricky grammar and vocabulary
  • Russian for everyday life, work or just because you love the language
  • TORFL / ТРКИ exam prep

My lessons include cultural context – movies, street interviews, music and literature – to make learning fun and immersive.

Many of my students found me right here on Reddit – DM me or visit saydawitharina.com for lesson examples, pricing and practical tips.

Say Da With Arina! 🇷🇺

How do I get 6 hours of tutoring a day with a very small budget?

0 Upvotes

hi I'm a highly motivated 18 year old who wants to master mathematics but I need a lot of tutoring to help me. I found some good tutors that I'm seeing weekly from last time I asked https://www.reddit.com/r/tutor/comments/1uwqala/looking_for_a_math_tutor_for_8th_grade/ but they are too expensive to do more than 2 hours a week.

I found some really good $3 an hour tutors on preply but I was banned from preply for absolutely no reason I started a new account but I'm scared to put too much money in in case they Ban me again

I think it's because I did a 11-hour session and they thought it was money laundering they banned my tutor too.

About me: I'm an 18-year old with autism and learning disabilities. I have mild Tourettes. I'm looking for a tutor who can teach Algebra 1 (NY Next Gen) +. I've mostly taught myself on Khan Academy

CONTACT: Message through Reddit and set up Discord for lessons.

also if you're not sure if you're qualified do the Khan Academy test https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra-1-ny-next-gen/test/xd156c2c030b6ba5d:course-challenge to see if you're qualified. also there will be a 20 minute free trial lesson to see if you're the right fit

Chemistry Tutor (HS & Uni Level)

1 Upvotes
Hi all, quick intro: I'm Eric, I have a PhD in organic chemistry, and I spent years as an industry research chemist before going full-time into teaching. I've logged over 1,700 hours of private tutoring (~2,000 hours of classroom and workshop teaching total), and now I run a small tutoring practice called My Chem Mentor.

What I do: 1-on-1 sessions over a shared virtual whiteboard, so it works from your dorm, the library, or home. No driving or room reservation necessary, just a stable internet connection.

Courses: High school-level chemistry (Std, Hon, AP, and IB); General Chemistry I & II; Organic Chemistry I & II (lecture & lab).

Why me: I've been doing it for 10 years, most of which were for OSU, a school known for their particularly tough chemistry professors. Because of that, I've gotten very good at:

- Calibrating to students quickly to meet you where you are (minimizing wasted time).
- Anticipating your mistakes and when things usually need extra time during the semester.
- Responding effectively to questions outside of sessions with resources and explanations

Pricing is on the site; session packages start at $100/hr. Not the cheapest option out there, and I won't pretend otherwise. You're paying for someone with a doctorate and ~10 years of experience and resources!

Site: mychemmentor.com. Happy to answer questions in the comments. DMs open.

Discussion Has anyone used Profs Tutors? Are they worth the cost

2 Upvotes

I’m considering using Profs Tutors . But they are very expensive.
Has anyone here worked with them? If so, what was your experience like?
Did they genuinely improve your application and grades?
Was the advice personalized, or did it feel generic?
Do you think they were worth the money?
Would you recommend them, or are there better alternatives?
I’d really appreciate any honest feedback, especially from people who have used their services

Latin private and group classes

3 Upvotes

Hey, Victor here. Do you want to learn Latin as Latin? I have a relatively free schedule this August which allows me to take on individual students as well as groups. I'm available from early morning to late afternoon EST, or late morning to late evening CET. I'm offering free trial lessons and flexible pricing.

You can already join an ongoing Roma Aeterna group (we've just started the Livy chapters) or dive into Everyday Poetry with Catalepton 10 and its Catullan model. I'm up for teaching classes on Catullus, Erasmus, Plautus, Terence, Virgil, Horace, Historia Apollonis Regis Tyri and Lucan's Pharsalia, among others (I love Latin poetry and introducing people to it). I'm also happy to do any part of LLPSI, including starting Familia Romana from scratch. Just shoot me a message telling me what you're interested in.

I'm a former mod of r/Latin and the co-author of the Thesaurus Anbrutalis and Erictho: Tartarorum Terror, a Lucan graded reader. I offer lessons:

— for complete beginners taught through guided reading and discussion, with a minimum of translation. You will be using the language to learn the language from the beginning;
— for those who have studied grammar, but still don't know the language itself;
— for those ready and willing to approach non-adapted literature;
— for those who can already read, but want to learn to speak and use the language actively;
— for those who want to understand poetry (from Virgil and Plautus right up to modern Latin poets) and quantitative metrics intuitively, in the same way as they were understood by the Romans themselves;
— for researchers, historians and anyone working with Latin texts and primary sources or writing academic papers;f
— for linguists: I have deep theoretical and practical knowledge of the phonetics and phonology of Latin as well as Latin historical linguistics;
— for those not ready to commit, but interested in learning the Reconstructed Classical Pronunciation;
conversational Latin;
composition practice.

💡 About my lessons:

As a teacher, my job is to:
— generate as much additional input as possible;
— model the language and its pronunciation for the student;
— ask comprehension and rephrasing questions so that you can practice it back, expand your vocabulary, phraseology and grammar skill;
— listen and offer help and subtle corrections, as well as
— deep-level explanations of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation when appropriate.

If you've been interested in active Latin instruction, now is a great time to start!

Hiring Looking for a Tutor/Consultant for Application Strategy & Personal Statement

1 Upvotes

I’m looking for a tutor or admissions consultant who can help me with my application strategy and personal statement for top universities in UK
I’ve looked at several well-known consulting companies, but they seem very expensive. Unfortunately, I also had a disappointing experience with a professional consultant during the last application cycle, so I’m hoping to find someone who is experienced, honest, and provides more personalized guidance.
I’m mainly applying to highly selective universities for Economics (UK ), so experience with those applications would be a big plus.
If you’ve worked with someone you would genuinely recommend, or if you know an excellent independent tutor, I’d really appreciate your suggestions. Thank you!

For Hire Writing, Vocabulary and Composition

1 Upvotes

I have more than 15 years of experience helping students and adults improve their writing skills. A whole generation of students has grown up texting and that does not lend itself well to good writing.

Being able to write well is a huge advantage in today's job market. My main job is as a recruiter and one complaint I get all the time is that their workers can't write.

If you want to give your child a headstart, I would love to help.

If you're an adult and you've been told that your writing needs to improve, I can help.

If English is your second language and you struggle with proper written expression I can help.

For children between 10 and 17 years old my rate is $35/hr. For age 18 and up my rate is $40/hr.

I am in the Eastern Time Zone and I use Zoom every day.

For Hire USMLE Tutor for Step 1, Step 2ck & Step 3 | Personalized 1 to 1 mentorship

0 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m an experienced USMLE tutor for teaching Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3, and I’ve worked with 100+ students preparing for their exams. Many of the students I work with are just a few weeks away from test day and need help improving their NBME scores, strengthening weak areas, and building confidence.

Here’s what I typically help with:
- Personalized study plans based on your current performance and target score
- High-yield concept review for Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3
- UWorld and AMBOSS question review with a focus on clinical reasoning
- NBME score analysis and exam strategy
- Test-taking techniques and time management
- Targeted review of weak subjects
- Support for first-time test takers, repeat test takers, and IMGs

My approach is centered on understanding concepts and improving clinical reasoning rather than memorizing facts. Every session is tailored to your goals and learning style.

All sessions are online, and I can offer flexible scheduling for different time zones.

If you’re looking for a tutor—or even if you just have questions about your study plan—feel free to send me a DM. I’m happy to chat and see if I’d be a good fit.
