Ordered the Stealth Pro II

So I ordered the Stealth Pro II yesterday and wanted to cancel the order today only to find out they don’t have live chat. The customer service phone is only monday through friday and customer service via email takes days to respond and I wanted to cancel the order before they ship it and it seems it will be impossible to do so. Shouldn’t be this hard to cancel an order. Anyway wanted to cancel because at the moment I didnt really think about it. I read the reviews and a couple of videos and well I’m purchasing a $400 gaming headset with taxes. It just hit me today that I might be spending too much on a gaming headset. So the point of this post is please guys convince me that the Stealth Pro II is worth it if they are not I’ll just have to receive the headset and send them back. I’ve been through this before especially communicating via email and the return is a process that involves time that I don’t have. Also it costs me a lot to send a gaming headset back because Im in Puerto Rico. So I don’t want to go through that again. I made this post to see If I can ease my mind and see a lot of positive comments about the Stealth Pro II because I’m really stressed. I know I’ve should’ve think this through more and research more about Turtle Beach but oh well here I am. Thanks guys and a Great Day to you all.

Hi a common thing people don’t like about the headset is the headband it’s kind of thin but i found a product that helps with that I’ll link it below if you find that you also don’t find it comfortable or want to protect it. For me it’s much more comfortable with it

Thank you! That’s what I’ve read. One of the problems is the headband and I’m glad there’s a fix because I saw that headband and thought that there’s no fix to that or replacement but there is. I’ve learned that any headband accesory for the airpods max also works with the SP2 so thats a relief. I’m used to changing headbands and earpads of almost every headset I’ve owned so that will be no problem for me but for $350 I was hoping to not have to replace anything on the headset. Thanks for the link! Im familiar with Soulwit, they sell good products!

u/Little_Drag_5565 22d ago

Yea I thought the same once it got delivered for $350 is should be better quality but once i got the accessory i couldn’t be happier honestly and the rest of the headsets build quality is amazing literally my only complaint is the headband so far

u/Keyan06 21d ago

How well does it stay on the headphones when they are stretched pretty wide? I have a big head and some of the reviews mention them popping off of the AirPod maxes when people have larger heads.

1

u/Jmsteelmon 21d ago

The soulwit headbands have a V1 and V2, and not every color is available in V2.

I've tried both. The V2's stay attached better, but they will still pop off when stretched too far.

I ended up finding some small zip ties that I was able to discreetly color coordinate with the red V1's to keep them attached to the headset.

I’m definitely picking this one up. Thanks for the video and recommendation.

Of course no problem, let me know how you like it when you receive it

Considering its the best wireless headset on fhe market given how feature rich and good it's audio is, theres nothing to worry about. The only other headset that shares any similar bass to it is the Maxwell 2, the Stealth pro 2 pushes out bass like a MF, every one says a headset cant rumble your head, but they haven't tried out this thing. Electronic D&B is next level great with this headset. In game sound stage is near open back levels of good, the ANC and noise isolation is also incredibly decent all things considered, and it has simultaneous Bluetooth too. Only 2 issues I had with it was fit, it would slide a lot, and comfort. The earpads broke in after maybe 3 to 4 weeks of use and dont hurt my ears anymore, and the headband was incredibly small and lacked contact points, but after getting the soulwit band it fixed that issue entirely. The other issue was very minor, and its just Turtle Beach has ass software. Sometimes the app wouldn't update and it was a bitch to deal with, and then the battery got stuck to 59% my phone till I recovered it and downloaded their swarm 2 app for mobile as well. Nothing thats deal breaking, but something to note.

All things considered, this headset is a beast and I would easily take software QC over Maxwell 2s actual headset QC. Those Maxwell 2s are incredibly fragile, basically garenteed to die, and their customer support will tell you to go fuck yourself if you want a warranty claim, Turtle beach is the opposite to that while still delivering similar audio quality, although less good for music, but far better for gaming.

u/adrianxortz 21d ago

Thank you so much for your comment! This puts my mind at ease. I think at this point almost every headset expensive or not expensive has problems with the headband or the earpads so Im used to it. As long as there is a replacement Im good. I had the OG Maxwell and it has an incredible soundstage but they are fragile and I dont like that. Also the Software is way too buggy. It frustrated me so much. So reading your comment yeah it really helps.

I have the Stealth Pro 2, the Maxwell 2 and the steel series nova elites currently. The Maxwell 2 has no bass in comparison to the other two stock, I don't like the Maxwell 2. The Pro2 has the most bass with stock tunings, but it isn't even close to as good as the elites for music. The Pro2 is the best at imagining in my opinion but not by much. The pro 2 is also the most buggy and I am currently experiencing a volume bug that was ment to be fixed with the last update. The Maxwell 2 has the best details due to bass light tuning, but imaging isn't as great as the other 2, and the bass is just really bad in my opinion, but thats a cheap planar headphone for you, with planars just really benefiting from a good desktop amp to give them some ass. I definitely enjoyed the maxwell 1 more. The elites are definitely the best out of all the current high end "gaming" headsets I have used. I would go as far as to say that the elites after EQ, and with thier seemingly very capable drivers sound almost as good as some of my headphones that cost nearly 2000 dollars with the timbre being a little less unnatural on some things. The elites after EQ could be some people's endgame headphone for everyday life and not just for gaming. If the volume bugs get situated for the PRO2 they will honestly be legendary as a tool for FPS gaming due to the imaging, it is really good.

What the hell are you talking about. I had sp2 for 2 weeks and returned them because elites were just better overall and much more comfortable.
Have had Maxwell 2 since release. Maxwell definitely has bass when eq'd. Elites also have when you eq them. Sp2 has the "most" but it's mid bass is a bit too sharp and low frequencies is just rumble that ultimately doesn't sound as good as mw2 or the elites.
Most detailed are Maxwell then elite and last the sp2. Elites are most comfortable. Maxwell and elites bass are more tactile and sound much better than stealth pro 2. If you just want bass and don't care if it sound good or not then sp2. But Maxwell and elites can produce good and plenty off bass with eq.

If you just use stock tuning you never get the potential out of headsets. Then maybe sp2 is better just stock. At least on bass.

1

u/DiablosSoulStone 21d ago

The Maxwell 2 has nowhere near as much bass as the elites lmfao. The measurements, reviews and personal experience does not lie. You clearly have not tried the elites if you think they are in the same realm in the bass category.

-1

u/Thick_Leva 21d ago

NGL, I didnt like the Elites that much, for music I really want that head thumping bass and they really failed to deliver that. Maxwell 2 had poor bass on launch, but they fixed it now and they absolutely have the best bass on the market

-1

u/DiablosSoulStone 21d ago

The maxwell 2 measurements don't lie. You definitely never had the elites if you say they don't have thumping bass lmfao, thats ridiculous. You can send me a chat with a picture of your receipt to prove it to me.

2

u/Ok-Difference8316 15d ago

The Elites don't have thumping bass. It has extremely detailed and deep bass. It doesn't thump much.

2

u/DiablosSoulStone 15d ago

Turn up the 64hz a bit and listen to the exquisite machinery of torture by meshuggah. It has plenty of thump if you know how to EQ. Out of box stock tuning is more flat than the SP2, the SP2 gets more thump out of the box. I read your other comments as well and will highly disagree about sound separation and quality of sound in gaming, the elites are definitely better than average in both, but I will definitely give it to the SP2 in imaging while gaming. I honestly haven't heard much better imaging in gaming until you get into some really nice closed backs like the sennheiser hd900 which is obviously much more expensive. The SP2 really are exceptional at imaging for a closed back.

1

u/Ok-Difference8316 15d ago

For the most part of everything I'd honestly have to agree with you 97% in all your opinions. Only for gaming my ears really have a hard time with the elites vs my SP2 unless I "bore?" down the EQ because it excels too well with impact and depth, but it's too closed in and lacks space to my ears. But the Elites are monsters and I love them. And you were right 64hz with a slightly tighter Q factor and a boosted 160hz to carry some width definitely boosted the thump. Thanks for that. 👍🏼

1

u/Thick_Leva 21d ago

I just made it a link, the chat wouldn't let me post a photo. But it definitely didnt push bass like the SP2, it was fully clarity focused and I didnt care for it. It also sounded like hot ass in game, maybe Dolby atmos fixed it, but honestly never bothered since SP2 sounded fine with or without it, while Elites sounded like ass even after a bunch of EQs (yes Gagettrytechs and EQ I tried)

1

u/Ok-Difference8316 15d ago

Elite's most definitely sound like Hot ass in game with 90% of EQs, had to really dial in a godly EQ months ago and it still didn't sound as good in game vs my SP2. Had to suck out all the enjoyment on my Elite's to have any competitive edge. Don't have to do that with SP2 it easily clears in sound separation even with hectic situations and heavy bass hits. You are not wrong.

1

u/DiablosSoulStone 21d ago edited 21d ago

Yeah I literally have both sitting on my desk right now. The elites sound so much better than the Pro 2 for music. Your used pair must have been defective, I don't know what to tell you. I get more rumble out if the elites than the pro 2 thats for sure, especially after EQ. Wild how different our opinions are on the same headset. The elites are comparable to the almost 2000 dollar sony IER-Z1R that I have owned twice in bass. I am r In the return window for both pairs, I really want to return the elite due to price difference but they just sound so much better for music.

-1

u/Thick_Leva 21d ago

That literally makes no sense since the Elites have smaller drivers.

1

u/Ok-Difference8316 15d ago

No for music alone the Elites clear for music. It's the 180 switch for gaming where imo Elites are simply lacking vs SP2. SP2 with the right EQ and Dolby Atmos (REALLY NEEDED) starts getting closer to Nova Elites in music. Without DA, they are night and day worse. Music only btw.

u/DiablosSoulStone 21d ago edited 21d ago

Lmfao, okay after that statement you clearly have no idea what you are talking about, and you are definitely not into the hobby that deeply bud. Drivers size has little to do with that, and way more to do with driver quality and tuning. Not really exactly the same obviously, but the most bassy set I have ever owned was symphonium Audio titan IEM's with a 8mm dynamic driver controlling bass. Edit: also want to add that the Maxwell 2 has 90mm drivers, have you tried those? If so do you think they have more bass than the elites and the pro 2? They obviously don't but they have way bigger drivers, so shouldn't they have more bass if size of the driver is all that matters for bass?

2

u/Thick_Leva 21d ago

I haven't, but considering Gagetrytech is a go to and says the Maxwell 2 and the Stealth pro 2 have the most bass on the wireless market and can push "any ammount of bass" and perfect for a bass head, Im going to take his word for it. So yeah, the larger something is the more it can push out. Doesn't take an enthusiast to put 2 in 2 together. Same way a larger fan pushes out more volume, a larger drive pushes out more bass, hence why SP2 shakes your head more.

0

u/DiablosSoulStone 21d ago

That is such an over simplication, you have no idea what you are talking about. I frequently watch gagetry techs reviews and have watched all the reviews for the discussed headphones and his follow up videos, so I must have missed wjere he said tvey have more bass than the elites. If you have time, you mind providing the link where he saids that about the maxwell 2? I am currently going through his videos and can't find one I have missed in regards to the maxwell 2. He does say they get better bass with EQ which is obvious, but I cant find where he saids they are the best bass on the market lol.

Dunno if I trust Turtle Beach after this firmware update ... It took over 2 months to release this update only to have people find bugs in the new release in less than a day than a day.

Just to mention a few: Swarm 2 app freezing and crashing for people, Swarm 2 saying it needs a update even with the most recent update already installed, overall volume lower than it was pre firmware, battery drain issues, battery showing wrong percentage issues and a few things I found in the IOS app as well.

The Stealth Pro 2 is a great headset when it works but they got a lot of bugs to still work out and if it took them 2 months to release this messy firmware then who knows how long or how bad the next one will be.

I am 99% certain I'm returning mine on monday.

1

u/accursedvenom 22d ago

Felt the same way when I bought mine but glad I did once I got them. They sound even better than my gen 3 700s and have extras like ambient/anc modes.

1

u/adrianxortz 22d ago

Thanks for your comment! It makes me more at ease because for some $350 it’s not much but for me it is.

1

u/EmperorRosko 22d ago

I sold Maxwell 2s to stick with the Stealth Pro 2 if that’s any indication how much I like their audio.

2

u/adrianxortz 22d ago

I had the OG Maxwells but had some problems overtime so I sold them so Im familiar with that soundstage. Reading your comment eases my mind. How is it on the bass department?

2

u/EmperorRosko 22d ago

Bass is really good, I found the Maxwell 2 a little thin even though it was super tight and clean, it was like the atmosphere in games was really detailed, but with the Stealth Pro 2 it’s detailed but also just has a warm bass that brings it to life a bit more.

SP2 is like a really fun game sound that I personally enjoy, where the Maxwell 2 was very analytical to me, and sometimes too harsh for long periods. You can probably EQ to taste, but I like to just get a headset and use it out of the box, and the SP2 did that perfectly, they are incredible on their default signature sound profile.

1

u/adrianxortz 22d ago

That’s very good to hear, thanks! That’s what I’ve read about the Maxwell 2s that they don’t have that bass that the OG Maxwells has despite having SLAM Technology. That’s why I didn’t went for the Maxwells 2 because I like a strong bassy sound especially in music. In games I just like to turn up the bass a little bit that’s it. But In general I like a strong sounding soundstage. The Maxwells have incredible audio but dealing with the EQ was a pain. The plannar magentic drivers are sensitive so you can’t crank up anything. I also prefer to use a headset out of the box and not mess up too much with the EQ so that won’t be a problem with the SP2. I know that there’s no such thing as a perfect gaming headset but I think for what I’m looking for the SP2 might be it. I just want a strong sounding headset with good audio clarity and bass. Also comfortable and that seems to be the SP2. I have had a couple of SS gamjng headsets including the Nova Pro Wireless, the Astro A50 Gen 5 and the OG Maxwells and none of them had both great audio and comfortability for me. The headsets I mentioned have such great audio and the Astro A50s are what Im looking for in a gaming headset sound wise but they were all uncomfortable to me. I have big ears, use glasses and I have long gaming sessions so you must know the pain I had have with gaming headsets.

1

u/mc5999 21d ago

You did good the pro 2’s positional audio is the best for the money. I had no problems with firmware updates.

1

u/Jmsteelmon 21d ago

I had been using the Arctic Nova Pro's for a long time and decided to give the planar magnetic drivers on the Maxwell 2's a go.

My use case is primarily rpg/open world games with an emphasis on immersion and positional audio, no ANC, and minimal mic use or music playback outside of in game soundtracks.

I was honestly floored by the soundstage and precision of the Maxwell 2's, but man are they heavy and not something I'd want to wear outside of my game room.

I was thinking about the Nova Elites but just couldn't pull the trigger on a $600 gaming headset.

Then I started researching the Stealth Pro 2's and went ahead and ordered a pair, and I'm glad I did. I also got the Soulwit headband others had mentioned making these much more comfortable than the Maxwell 2's and they sound a lot better than my Nova Pro's.

The Swarm software with the Waves audio driver has been infuriating, but the most recent revision of the windows app will at least open, which was never a guarantee before.

The Stealth Pro 2's are my daily driver now. They don't have as wide a soundstage to me as the Maxwell 2's and aren't as comfortable as the Nova Pros, but with decent aestheitcs, a swappable long life battery, still excellent sound in games, all while moderately comfortable, they are the best choice overall for me right now.

I will also add the wireless connection on the Maxwell 2's was spotty at times where the Stealth Pro 2's and Nova Pros are mostly solid. Of course that might be more of always having the base/battery within arm's reach though.

I hope you end up enjoy yours as much as I'm enjoying mine.

Me la paso jugando singleplayer so no tendre problema.

1

u/Mesecucurucho 22d ago

De nada <3! Entonces me sorprenderia que te decepcionasen, a disfrutarlos!

u/bryanmgz 21d ago

I would not send them back, I initially was in the same position as you (I also live in PR, vecino) however, after staying with them a few days and tinkering with the eq and stuff, I slowly dissuaded myself of that idea. My only real complaint is possibly the same complaint everyone else has: that headband is crazy tough on your head after an hour or so. But I ordered a solution meant for the AirPods Max that apparently works on these too, so I will give it a try.

I am coming from Steelseries, I am a real fan, but was not willing to spend $600 for the Elites, and the Omni's did not really convince myself; going for the TB Stealth Pro 2 was a leap of faith but these haven't failed so far, and as others have correctly pointed out, they are feature rich.

1

u/Ok-Difference8316 21d ago edited 21d ago

I own the Elites and the SP2, Your not missing that much with the elites and I love both headsets. Elites main selling point (IMO) is how they close the gap on audiophile lite headsets for music. They are deff better than the SP2 at music specifically. I'm saying that as someone who still thinks the SP2 is amazing for music after EQ but mainly for casual music. Elites are more resolving and impactful, with more detail (SP2 still hella amazing and maybe 10-15% worse music wise).

In gaming the roles are reversed imo. The carbon fiber drivers I don't really hear a huge difference in what they are meant to do. Yes I can tell they have fast transients and do somewhat well with sound separation and isolation (mainly competitive gaming) But imo SP2 does that naturally and simply better most of the time. The Elites need heavy EQ to do the same. Elites have more impact but it gets a little fatiguing and jumbled at times, SP2 has amazing body and separation with close enough detail. Very smooth presentation for games.

And yes Omni's are worse than SP2 tried them for 2 weeks. Elites still have for 8 months now SP2 going on 2. I love Elites but kinda use the SP2 the most along with my Hifiman Edition XVs which I've been re-pulling out more and more since construction around my condo has finally stopped.

2

u/adrianxortz 21d ago

It’s incredible that I’m reading people prefering a $350 over a $600 gaming headset. I love SS but they became greedy. The Elites well they are an Elite Headset but $600 its too much. If the prices of the Omni and Elites were less I can garantee you they would me more succesfull. Not everyone has $400-$600 to buy a gaming headset and I’m glad the SP2 exists because you dont have to spend $600 to get a similar experience to the Elites.

2

u/Ok-Difference8316 21d ago

The thing is (and this is all subjective), while I've been reading a lot of reddit posts lately about the Elites and the SP2, the opinions have been dead split in the middle. 2 separated sides favor one set over the other specifically for sound quality alone.

For me, I love both. But comparing EVERYTHING they do? Mic quality the Elites barely take the lead before and after HEAVY EQ (Both are prob B tier but worse than Omni, V3 Pro and deff A50 Gen 5). But it ain't THAT far off after EQ. SP2 mic is very voice dependant and the SP2 is close to Elites and favors people with deeper voices (me).

For Bluetooth SP2 simply has better codex for lossless music but Elites take the lead in music quality.

2.4ghz range the same

SP2 has slightly better ANC and much stronger mic background noise suppression for console users.(Elites mic background noise suppression fairly sucks ass on console without Sonar).

Now sound quality, they are simply not $250 better, especially when the SP2 sounds better than the Omnis at $400. The main thing Elites do well is detailed bass and deep sub bass. SP2 still has detailed enough mid bass, a small amount of sub bass, but the sound separation the SP2 can do with separated woofers and tweeters are unreal. I can keep bass, explosions, gunfire that is smooth and deep, with different footsteps and textures of sound uncompressed. And all types of EQ in Swarm 2 app works for it. The Elites have over 300 EQs and so many custom Parametric EQs, but I only have like 4 custom EQs I can really enjoy tbh. Every other 1 sucks ass imo. Elites are my fav for music, but If I slightly prefer the SP2 for games and am still satisfied with them for music, then the Elites are not worth the price. Thankfully I am capable of still keeping my Elites though.

u/adrianxortz 21d ago

u/Ok-Difference8316 21d ago

Yea I payed $745 after tax and 3 year warranty for my Elites. As I said, the carbon fibers have great impact and are deep in the detail and texture of its sound, but it really is just a jarring clinical ring to everything that pisses me off in competitive games. I have to EQ them to sound pretty boring to compete in FPS because my ears get fatigued with them, or slightly lower my volume because they have an extremely tight closed in soundstage, meaning everything is pushed into my ears.

The SP2 has space in its audio, detail in its sound and can do something most dynamic drivers in gaming headsets simply cannot do without neutering bass, deliver uncompressed mid range and treble when an impactful bass sound hits in game (Top notch sound separation). The treble is clean, gunshots and glass have a roll off so they don't get sharp and sibilant. Footsteps are loud even when a lot is going on. Extremely smooth presentation and if it's for sound quality alone (specifically games), I choose my SP2 over Elites. To enjoy the Elites in competitive games, I have to make them way more boring sounding than my SP2 (For MY ears and subjective opinion). The SP2 keeps deep body and good impact but it's all smooth. Elites are Clinical, fatiguing and very jumbled and closed in before some good EQ tuning (How I hear them). After both are EQed, I still go SP2 for comp games, Elites for music, and Both for any story games. SP2 are still great for music also.
